 TODAY AT GRACE

TODAY we welcome Rev. Cecil Martens who will lead our morning
service and share the message. Join us tonight at 6:00 pm at the
Crossing when Rev. Todd Bush will be with us and lead us in
worship.

The CHORAL ANTHEM this morning “I Don’t Need to Understand” is in
memory of Mrs. Wilma Osterink who passed away last week. She
was a dear friend of our choir director, Paul Kerkstra, and sang with
our choir on numerous occasions.

CHILDREN & WORSHIP
All Children ages 3 years – 2nd Grade will meet together
through the summer months in the Fellowship Hall.
Worship Leaders this week are Erika Wigent and
Sue Stuk.

 CALENDAR OF THE WEEK

MONDAY, AUGUST 17, 2009
11AM – 1 PM CROCODILE DOCK REUNION! We will have a fun Bible
story, sing the same VBS songs we learned earlier this summer,
make a craft, play games, and share lunch! SLURP will be our
Bible Buddy & he will teach us that God is love! Fear Not! (if you
attend, you may feel like Christmas came just a bit early…..but just
for one day!!!) Tell your kids, grandkids, neighbors to come out
and join us for this fun time!

HEALTH CONCERNS – Al Grimm is a patient at Kent Community
Hospital, 750 Fuller Ave NE, Grand Rapids. Please keep Al &
Louise and the family in your prayers. See the Prayers & Praise
Line for all prayer requests and praise reports.

THE CONSISTORY IS PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE the hiring of Heather
Dood as our “Coordinator of Children & Youth”. This will
be a 10-12 hour per week position. We will formally introduce her
next week and post the job description. Consistory also approved a
10-12 hour per week position for a “Club 3:16 Coordinator.” Again
the job description will be posted next week. Please be in prayer as
we seek to fill this position.

CHURCH PLANT AT GRACE – The Consistory continues to await your
inquiries. Please write your questions on a piece of paper and place
in the box in the narthex. A question and answer sheet will be in next
week’s bulletin.

CONGRATULATIONS are extended to Ray & Robin Zondervan upon
the birth of a son, Garrett Joshua, on Wednesday, August 12.
We thank God for this precious gift of life and pray
for His blessings on your family!

OUR CHRISTIAN SYMPATHIES are extended to Larry & Bernice Palma
upon the death of Larry’s father, Robert Palma on Saturday, August
8, at the age of 82. Services were held Tuesday at Princeton CRC.

 NEXT SUNDAY – AUGUST 23, 2009

NEXT SUNDAY Pastor Rick will share the message “SEA STORIES: THE
SEA OF NO MORE” from Revelation 21:1-27.

DISCOVERY KIDZ & FAMILIES you won't want to miss out on
the exciting news we have about Fall. Mark your calendars for
Next Sunday, Aug 23rd @ 10am for details. There will be
something special waiting for all Discovery Kidz that day only!!

 MISCELLANEOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS

NEEDED…OLD CD’S for decoration in our children’s center. You can
place your old CD’s on the desk in the office or give them to Heather
Dood. Thank you!

OUR SPECIAL OFFERING for the month of August is designated for
WORDS OF HOPE. This special offering will be received August 30.

THE GRACE BUILDING FUND DRIVE fund drive will continue. You can put
your gift envelope in the offering plate or designate it on your budget
envelope at any time!

LEADERSHIP TRAINING EVENT – Volunteers in Service is sponsoring this
event Thursday, September 24 at Brookside CRC. Many interesting
workshops are being offered. Brochures are on the narthex table.
See Shari if you are interested in attending. Deadline for reservations
is September 13.

Church Plant Prayer Focus

Praise God for a unanimous vote of approval on a first reading
by the Consistory. Watch for updates next Sunday. The next
step is to disseminate information to the congregation.
Pray for God’s clear leading in this process!

Congregational Prayers and Praise

Please call the office if you would like to
share a Prayer Request or a Praise Report.

 We praise and thank God for the birth of Garrett Joshua Zondervan.
 Please keep Lacey Thorner (Wylie) and her baby son in your prayers.
The baby has a cyst located inside of his lung which they are keeping an
eye on at this time. Both the lung and heart are growing at a normal rate.
The baby is due in November.
 Pray for the VBS Reunion taking place tomorrow. Pray for the children who will come.
 Pray for Al Grimm who is now at Kent Community Hospital.
 Pray for those who grieve. In particular the Palma family, Ver Merris Family,
and the family of Wilma Ostrink.
 Praise God that Desmon Munsell, a visitor at Grace, came through her brain
surgery well and is now home.
 Pray for Heather Dood as she begins her work with our children as our new
“Coordinator of Children and Youth” at Grace.
 Keep these friends and family serving in the military in your prayers:
Doug Desmarais, Frank Senko, Matthew Halverson (Lucille Sytsema’s
grandson), Dave Vander Berg, Nick Borkowski.
 Pray for Gretchen Stauffer, daughter of Jane Duthler, who is undergoing treatments for cancer.
 Keep Christy Kleymeer in your prayers as she consults with doctors and prepares for upcoming surgery.
 Pray for our Shut-in’s: Mrs Tena DeVink, Mr & Mrs Ade Peterson, Mrs Miriam Schrotenboer, Mrs June Snyder, Mrs Henrietta TeRonde and Mrs Anne Hoezee.
