OUR SPECIAL OFFERING for the month of August is designated for
FAMILY NETWORK OF WYOMING. Due to the fact that children are not
in school and receiving free meals, often the pantry is busier in the
summer months. This special offering will be received on Aug. 29th.

AN OPPORTUNITY – During August 15-21 area churches will be doing an
“Extreme Church Makeover” on Emmanuel Hispanic CRC on
36th Street in Wyoming. If you are interested in helping in some way,
pick up a flyer on the table in the narthex. There is a phone number
there, or contact Shari and possibly we can help as a group.

KLEYMEER, & CHRISTINA KLEYMEER are all participating in the Susan
G Komen 3 Day for the Cure in Michigan August 13-15th? To get the
team back out on the route for day 2 & 3 (miles 30-60!!) they could
use a little motivation and encouragement. The 3 Day has mail boxes
for the walkers and crew and they LOVE to see lots of cards, letters, &
postcards stacked up with their name on it!

To send a card, letter or postcard to your friend or family member
(no packages please!) just send it postmarked no later than August
3rd to: 3-Day for the Cure PO; ATTN: (INSERT NAME OF
PARTICIPANT), P.O. Box 611, South Lyon, MI 48178

We have perfect cards available for you to use! On the narthex table are

packets of encouragement cards that were left over from a
past women’s event. Please pick up a pack and make good use of
them for the 3-day event or for someone else who may need
a note of encouragement~ there are 5 cards in each pack!

COLLECTION OF SCHOOL SUPPLIES: (This is a combined project of the
Mission Team and the GEMS!) During August and into September
we will be collecting school supplies for the over 200 school bags that
Phyllis Vander Sloot has already sewed for this purpose. These
‘School Kits’ will be given to Church World Service. Church World
Service sends these kits around the world to children in
impoverished schools, refugee camps, and other difficult settings so
that children can have the basic tools for learning.
The bags need to be filled with specific items. Each bag will contain the same school supplies:
 One pair of blunt scissors (rounded tip)
 Three 70-count spiral or tape-bound pads of 8” X 10 ½” ruled paper or pads with 200-210

sheets of ruled paper (Please do not provide loose-leaf or filler paper)
 One 30-centimeter ruler (12” )
 One hand-held pencil sharpener
 One large eraser
 Six new pencils with erasers
 One box of 24 crayons (only 24)

Bring the requested school supplies to church. Boxes are in the narthex to collect the

school supplies for filling the bags. As time goes by, you will be informed as to what supplies

we are still in need of and what supplies are not needed any more. Our goal is to fill 200 bags.
