OUR MINISTRY OF MUSIC this morning is presented by Ruth

 Tacoma and her daughter Janet Dekkinga and granddaughters,

 Mandy & Ellie.  We are so thankful to your family for sharing your

 talents with us! 


A PRAYER GROUP will meet following the service in the sanctuary

 to pray for Pastor George & Connections, and the needs and vision at

 Grace Reformed Church.


Join us after the morning worship service for cake and coffee to


 years she has devoted to taking care of “God’s Flower Garden” here

 at Grace.  Karen is retiring from her gardening duties! We thank and

 appreciate the many hours she has spent taking care of the flowers

 and making our gardens so beautiful!

HEALTH CONCERNS –  Please be in prayer for Linda Emelander

 who is hospitalized at Spectrum Downtown with complications

 following treatment for Guillain Barre Syndrome.  Please pray for

IN APPRECIATION -  Thank you to the Grace congregation and to

 Pastor Rick for the prayers, cards, and other expressions of

 sympathy following the death of our sister, Carol.  We appreciate it

NEXT SUNDAY morning Pastor Rick will lead our worship services

 and share the message.


OUR SPECIAL OFFERING for the month of August is designated for

 Western Seminary.  This offering will be received next Sunday.


5:00 PM  A COMBINED SERVICE will be held at Unity Reformed

 Church. Everyone is invited to join! Note the 5:00 start time!  This

 will take the place of our service here at Grace.

Sunday, September 7 – CLUB 3:16 VOLUNTEER MEETING.  All

 volunteers and anyone who may be interested in volunteering for

 Club this fall, please plan to meet at the Crossing following the 

 morning worship service.


Sunday, September 14  FALL KICK OFF!  We will kick off our fall

 season with a pig roast following morning worship.  Come for dinner,

 activities for the kids and fun fellowship.




DISCOVERY KIDZ VOLUNTEERS needed for the first fall rotation

 which includes 3 weeks (Sept 14, 21, 28).  A sign-up sheet is on the

 narthex table.  Needed are 3 shepherds and one teacher each for: Art,

 Cooking, and Science.

Prayers & Praise Line

Congregational Prayers and Praise


  • We thank and praise God today for Karen Ver Hulst.  We are thankful for the many hours of love she has put into the care of our flowers here at Grace. 
  • We are thankful today for family, both near and far.  We are thankful that Rowin Mulder’s parents and his aunt and uncle can be here to visit from the Netherlands.  We pray that they have a good time and safe travels.  We especially pray and think of the family as they travel next weekend to Canada to spend time with a family member that is very ill. 
  • We are thankful today for music.  For Ruth Tacoma and her daughter and granddaughters.  We praise God for their family, their talents, and their witness.
  • We thank God today for the testimony of Luke Nordlund and God’s touch on his life.
  • Please keep Linda Emelander in your prayers.  Pray for healing and a relief of pain associated with Guillain Barre Syndrome.
  • Be in prayer for Mary De Vries, mom of Lisa Braendle.  She underwent surgery this week to remove a cancerous mass from her abdomen.  Pray for healing and strength.
  • Please be in prayer as fall plans are being made.  Pray for willing volunteers and an eagerness to dig in!
  • Please continue to be in prayer for Paul Hoekstra, Vice President of Operations at Talking Bibles, as he recovers following a car accident in Hungary on July 18.  We praise God his life was spared. 
  • We continue to lift up Earl & Clare Reifel and the people they serve in West Africa as they battle the effects of the Ebola crisis there.
  • There are many friends and family of our church members that need your prayers this week.  Please continue to pray for Lola De Young and her parents Matt & Lindsey.  Also, Barb, friend of Della Sawyer, undergoing chemotherapy; Marie Mc Donald, friend of Esther Hoag, who has cancer; and Caitlin, friend of Abbey Licari, diagnosed with Leukemia.
  • We pray for all those who are serving in the military.  In particular we pray for Amie Pierce serving in Kuwait.
  • Pray for our Shut-in’s: Mr. Ralph Bolt, Mrs Tena DeVink, Mrs. Wilma Kamphuis, Mrs Ruth Ver Merris.


As other prayers are shared, you are invited to write them down and include them in your prayers for our congregation this week. Please keep the church informed of your prayer needs and praise reports.
