TODAY AT GRACE

It’s ZOO DAYS at DISCOVERY KIDZ! This week:  It’s all about

 the Zookeeper.  God is our creator and caretaker.  The Shepherd who loves his people so much he would die for them.

Memory Verse this week:

OUR SPECIAL MUSIC is presented by Hermina Feikema. We thank

 you for being with us today and sharing your testimony in song!

 

THE SPECIAL OFFERING for the month of August is designated for

 WORDS OF HOPE.  Words of Hope proclaims Jesus Christ

 through broadcasting in the languages of the world's peoples. 

 Along with other partners in ministry they build the church by

 winning the uncommitted to faith in Christ and by encouraging

 Christians in the life of discipleship.  Also, we get the daily

 devotionals from Words of Hope free of charge! This special

 offering will be received today.

 

A PRAYER GROUP will meet following the service in the sanctuary

 to pray for Pastor George & Connections, and the needs and vision at

 Grace Reformed Church.

 

SUNDAYS AT 6:00 - We will be meeting with Faith Reformed

 Church, 618  32nd Street for our evening service!  Please

 come join us there!

 

NEXT WEEK, SEPTEMBER 6, 2015

 

NEXT SUNDAY Rev. Cecil Martens will lead our service and share the

 message.

 

5:00 pm JOINT LABOR DAY WEEKEND service at UNITY

 REFORMED CHURCH (4450 Poinsettia Ave SE, Kentwood). 

 There will be a hymn sing (with some requests!), a few musical

 numbers, and will be followed by an ice cream social.

 

SPECIAL DATES TO REMEMBER 

 

Wednesday, September 9, 6:30 pm SENIOR CHOIR – Your first

 practice of the season will take place. Thinking about joining the

 choir?  Now is your opportunity!

 

Sunday, September 13 ZOO POTLUCK  - Discovery Kidz are

 hosting an all-church potluck at the John Ball Zoo following the

 morning service.  Hamburgers, hotdogs, lemonade will be provided. 

 Please bring a dish to pass and your own tableware.  The Hilltop

 Pavilion (enter off Butterworth) is reserved so this is a rain or shine

 event. Discounted tickets will be available for those who wish to go

 into the zoo on that day.

 

MISCELLANEOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

ADULTS…An adult Sunday School class will begin on September 13

 following the morning service.  They meet in the Consistory room

 and will use the Sunday School Guide. 

 

HELP NEEDED – We need your help on Wednesday nights serving

 and cleaning up after dinner. It’s always a fun time!  At least two

 people are needed!  If interested, see or call Tymie Boeve (531-5700

 or 916-9573).

 

DESSERTS – Do you love your desserts??  Then sign up to bring one

 on Wednesday nights!  This helps keep costs down.  A sign up sheet

 will be on the narthex table.  Wednesday activities begin on

 September 16.  Thank you!

 

DISCOVERY KIDZ volunteers needed for the September and October

 rotations!  A sign-up sheet is now in the narthex if you can help.

Prayers & Praise Line

August 30, 2015

Congregational Prayers and Praise

  • We thank God today for refreshing rains, beautiful sunshine, and time to enjoy God’s beautiful creation.
  • We praise God for helping hands.  For our many volunteers who help throughout the week.  We are thankful to those who helped clear the way and build the gaga pit for the youth.
  • We pray for those today who have lost a loved one.  We pray for comfort and peace.
  • Please pray for fall plans that are being made.  Pray for willing volunteers to help make the programs successful.
  • We pray today for Karen Ver Hulst.  We pray for returned strength and healing.
  • Thank you for remembering Wes Dekker’s sister, Janet, in your prayers. Please pray that they will be able to restrain any cancer left in her system. 
  • Please remember Marie Mc Donald, friend of Esther Hoag, who has cancer.  Also Esther’s sister, Wanda, had a mild stroke this past week and is in need of our prayers.
  • We thank and praise God for great improvement for Kaitlyn  Mc Cloud, just 10 years old, who nearly drowned in Pickerel Lake.  She is making great progress.
  • Please continue to be in prayer for Lola De Young and her parents Matt & Lindsey.  We pray that Lola’s match will be found.  Matt & Lindsey’s baby daughter was born this past week.  Mom and baby Willa Rose are doing well.  We praise God for new life.
  • We pray today for Jeff and Chelsea Lampen as they prepare to serve in Romania. 
  • Pray for our Shut-in’s: Mrs. Tena DeVink, Mrs. Wilma Kamphuis, Mrs. Ruth Ver Merris.

As other prayers are shared, you are invited to write them down and include them in your prayers for our congregation this week.Please keep the church informed of your prayer needs and praise reports.
