It’s ZOO DAYS at DISCOVERY KIDZ! This week:  It’s all about

 the Giraffe.  Giraffes have long necks to reach the tallest branches. 

 Christians should not be content to live as the world does but be

 constantly reaching for heaven.

A PRAYER GROUP will meet following the service in the sanctuary

 to pray for Pastor George & Connections, and the needs and vision at

 Grace Reformed Church.


SUNDAYS AT 6:00 - We will be meeting with Faith Reformed

 Church, 618  32nd Street for the remainder of the summer!  Please

 come join us there!




HEALTH CONCERNS – Lucille Sytsema is home after undergoing

 knee surgery on Wednesday.  Karen Ver Hulst continues to be

 hospitalized at Blodgett. Lynda Ver Merris underwent outpatient

 surgery and is now home. For all other Prayer Requests and Praise

 Reports, see the Prayer insert in your bulletin.


CONGRATULATIONS are extended to Matt Vander Heide (Son of

 Jim & Sheila Mc Elroy) and Lindsay Koning who were married on

 July 25.  May God bless you with many years of happiness together.


IN APPRECIATION – Thank you to Denise Vredevoogd for playing

 the keyboard for our service today!  




NEXT SUNDAY Rev. Cecil Martens will lead our service and share the

 message.  Pastor Rick and Donna will be on vacation through August

 20.  If a need arises, please contact your Elder Representative, Caring

 Shepherd, or call the office and we will contact them for you. 




SAVE THE DATE!  - Discovery Kidz are hosting an all-church

 potluck at the John Ball Zoo on Sunday, September 13 following the

 morning service.  The kidz summer session theme is …at the Zoo, so

 this will be a fun wrap up of that session.  More details to follow.


DISCOVERY KIDZ shepherds are still needed for a couple of August

 dates. It is just a one week commitment.  Won’t you please consider

 helping out?  Sign-up sheets are on the narthex table.  Thank you!


THE SPECIAL OFFERING for the month of August is designated for

 WORDS OF HOPE.  Words of Hope proclaims Jesus Christ

 through broadcasting in the languages of the world's peoples. 

 Along with other partners in ministry they build the church by

 winning the uncommitted to faith in Christ and by encouraging

 Christians in the life of discipleship.  Also, we get the daily

 devotionals from Words of Hope free of charge! This special

 offering will be received on August 30.


FNOW (Family Network of Wyoming) is in urgent need of toilet paper

 once again!  We will be collecting it here for a few weeks if you would

 like to donate. Thanks so much!

Congregational Prayers and Praise

  • We thank and praise God for the beauty of summer.  For long days and warm weather.  We thank God for times of rest and relaxation.
  • We pray today for Karen Ver Hulst at Blodgett Hospital.  We pray for returned strength and healing.
  • Keep Lucille Sytsema and Lynda Ver Merris in your prayers following surgeries this past week.
  • Please continue to be in prayer for Lola De Young and her parents Matt & Lindsey (nee Foster).  We pray that Lola’s match will be found. 
  • Continue to keep Heather Dood in your prayers as she begins the process of becoming a Commissioned Pastor.
  • We pray today for Pastor George and his work at Connections.  We pray for the upcoming Block parties and the many activities and groups at the Crossing.
  • Thank you for praying for Lorie Norden’s cousin Tim who was under hospice care.  Tim passed away on Friday, July 31.  We pray for comfort for his family and friends. 
  • Thank you for remembering Wes Dekker’s sister, Janet, in your prayers. Please pray that they will be able to restrain any cancer left in her system. 
  • Please remember Marie Mc Donald, friend of Esther Hoag, who has cancer.
  • We pray today for Jeff and Chelsea Lampen as they prepare to serve in Romania. 
  • Pray for our Shut-in’s: Mrs. Tena DeVink, Mrs. Wilma Kamphuis, Mr. Mac Mc Alary, Mrs. Ruth Ver Merris.

As other prayers are shared, you are invited to write them down and include them in your prayers for our congregation this week.Please keep the church informed of your prayer needs and praise reports.
