WELCOME

A warm welcome to our visitors and members alike during this season of Advent.  As we prepare ourselves to celebrate again the coming of our Lord, let us affirm the joy Christ brought into the world.  May such joy live within us as we worship the Lord.  Please take a moment and sign your name and address on the Fellowship Register as it is passed today.

 

 

TODAY AT GRACE

 

THE DISCOVERY KIDZ will present their Christmas program this

 morning.  Our thanks to Heather Dood, our Children & Youth and

 Crossing Director, for her work with our children.  We are so very

 thankful for her love, energy, dedication and time!  Thank you to all

 the children who were a part of the program this morning.

 

THE TRANSITION TEAM and EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE will

 meet in the Chapel following the service.

 

PRAYER GROUP will meet following the service in the sanctuary to  

 pray for Pastor George, Connections, and the needs and vision at GRC.

 

THE ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL GUIDE CLASS will meet in the

 Consistory Room after the morning service. They cover various

 matters using the Sunday School Guide.  You are welcome to join in!

 

PRAYERS AND PRAISE

 

HEALTH CONCERNS:  Bill Ver Hulst moved to Marywood Health

 Center on Tuesday for a time of rehab.  Jerry Hendrickson continues

 at Butterworth.  Marge Veldheer has returned to her home.

 Denny and Mary Bush have moved to Rose Garden, 3391 Prairie SW

 #109, Grandville, 49418.  For all other praise reports and prayer

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 14, 2017

 7:00 PM WOMEN'S MINISTRY is holding "CUP OF

 CHRISTMAS" event in the Fellowship Hall.  We are asking

 everyone to bring a dozen cookies if you wish to participate in the

 cookie exchange.

 

3rd SUNDAY OF ADVENT

DECEMBER 17, 2017 

 

NEXT SUNDAY Pastor Rick will share the message: “The Gift of

 Growing Missions”. Our Senior Choir will present their

 Christmas Cantata “Sing and Shout for Joy”.

 

6:00 – 8:00 PM Y-LIFE  This is our Christmas celebration night! Our

 theme: Flap Jacks and Flannels!!  Yes that's right come hungry and

 where your best flannel! Also bring a white elephant gift.

 

DATES TO REMEMBER

 

Monday, December 18 - ELDERS AND CONSISTORY will meet.

 

Sunday, December 24, 6:00 pm CANDLELIGHT CHRISTMAS EVE

 SERVICE.  We will also have a traditional 10:00 am service on

 December 24.  There will be no Christmas Day service.

 

Sunday, December 31, 10:00 am – This will be PASTOR RICK’S last

 Sunday that he will be leading us and sharing the message.  We will

 have a time for cake and fellowship following the service.

 

Sunday, January 14 – Pastor Rick’s FAREWELL DINNER will follow

 this service.  This will be a special service honoring his years at Grace.

MISCELLANEOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

LOOKING FOR CROSSING VOLUNTEER – After 17 years of

 volunteering/ministering to our community children, Donna will be

 retiring! Donna your many years of services has been very much

 appreciated. With this being said I would love to have a volunteer to

 fill that spot. 3:30-5:45 pm on Wednesdays. See Heather if you can

 help.

 

At THE CONGREGATIONAL MEETING last week the following

 persons were approved to serve on the Consistory beginning in 2018.

 Wes Dekker (One Year Term)

 DEACON SLATE:  Brian Licari, Lorie Norden

 

OUR SPECIAL OFFERING for the month of December and

 Christmas is designated for Pastor Rick’s retirement gift.  You may

 designate on your regular offering envelope, use a pew envelope, or

 your special offering envelope anytime this month. 

 

SHEETS NEEDED – I am a member of a quilt group at our Arizona

 church. We make quilts for the girls at Mingus Mountain Academy. 

 We are always in need of gently used sheets which we use as a

 backing for the quilts.  The sheets should be full, queen or king sized.

 If you have any to donate, please contact Willie Hiemstra at 532-2213.

Congregational Prayers and Praise

 

  • We thank and praise God today for our Children.  We pray that each one will come to know, love, and serve our Great God.
  • We thank and praise God for the opportunity to give gifts at De Vos Children’s Hospital.We pray for the children that came to the store and for their families.May they feel the love of God through us this Christmas season.
  • We pray today for Heather Dood as she leads the Discovery Kidz and the other youth activities that take here at Grace.  We pray for The Crossing after school program and the families that participate.
  • Please pray for the Holy Spirit’s presence and guidance as Pastor Rick and Donna go through these last few weeks at Grace.  We thank and praise God for their time here and their love for our congregation and community.
  • Please pray for Pastor George and Connections and for the youth and adults that attend each week.  We pray for them as they continue to grow and expand.
  • Please pray for the Search Team as they go about their work.  May the Holy Spirit guide their path. 
  • We pray for Bill Ver Hulst today.  May he feel encouraged and strengthened.
