WELCOME

A warm welcome to our visitors and members alike during this season of  Advent.  As we prepare ourselves to celebrate again the coming of our Lord, let us affirm the joy Christ brought into the world.  May such joy live within us as we worship the Lord.  Please take a moment and sign your name and address on the Fellowship Register as it is passed today.

 

TODAY AT GRACE

 

THE DISCOVERY KIDZ will present their Christmas Program this

 morning.  Our thanks to Heather Dood, our Children & Youth and

 Crossing Coordinator, for her work with our children.  We are so

 thankful for her love, energy, dedication and time!  Thank you to the

 children and all those who were a part of the program this morning.

 

THE HANDBELL quartet will be rehearsing in the chapel following

 the worship service this morning.

 

A PRAYER GROUP will meet following the service in the sanctuary

 to pray for Pastor George & Connections, and the needs and vision at

 Grace Reformed Church.

 

THE ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL class will meet in the Consistory

 Room following the morning worship service.  They cover various

 subject matter using the Sunday School Guide. 

 

5:00 PM Y-LIFE - Come hungry to our Christmas celebration!

 

6:00 PM– For the month of December we will be meeting at Beverly

 Reformed Church, 2141 Porter, Wyoming.  Rev. Harvey Hertz will

 share the message.

 

PRAYERS AND PRAISE

 

HEALTH CONCERNS: Mary Huizen underwent surgery to drain

 fluid from her eye on Monday, December 5.  She will be going to her

 daughter Joy’s home for a time of recuperation.  Bill Ver Hulst is back

 at home and had begun dialysis.  For all other prayer requests and

 praise reports, please see the Prayer & Praise line in your bulletin

 today.

 

AT THE CONGREGATIONAL MEETING on November 27,

 the following persons were approved to serve on the Consistory

 beginning in 2017:

 FORGIVING THOSE WHO HURT US – Class meets in

 the Consistory Room.  This upcoming week we will be studying

 Chapter 11 in Lewis Smedes' book "The Art of Forgiving –

 When You Need to Forgive and Don't Know How."  We would

 love to have you join us!  If you need a book or study guide,

 please let Lorinda know.

NEXT SUNDAY Pastor Rick will continue the Advent series

 Christmas Makes Sense, with the message:  “The Sounds of

 Christmas”.  Our SENIOR CHOIR will present their Christmas 

 Cantata “Sing and Shout for Joy”. 

 

 

6:00 PM EVENING SERVICE we will meet at Beverly Reformed

 Church for the month of December.  The Beverly Choir will present

 their Christmas Cantata!

 Christmas”.

 

MISCELLANEOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

SENDING CHRISTMAS CARDS?  An updated list of the addresses

 of our shut in members is on the narthex table. 

 

THE SPECIAL OFFERING for the month of December, Christmas

 Eve, and Christmas Day is designated for the work of Godwin Idogo. 

 Pastor Cecil Martens has spoken of him in the past and will give us

 more information next week!  You may use your special offering

 envelope, designate it on your regular offering envelope, or a pew

 envelope anytime this month.

 

NO CROSSING after school program Dec 20-28th.  We will resume

 January 3rd.

Prayers & Praise Line

Congregational Prayers and Praise

 

  • We thank and praise God today for our Children.  We pray that each one will come to know, love, and serve our Great God.
  • We thank and praise God for the opportunity to give gifts at De Vos Children’s Hospital.We pray for the children that came to the store and for their families.May they feel the love of God through us this Christmas season.
  • Continue to keep Pastor Rick in your prayers as he leads us.  Pray for wisdom, strength and the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
  • We pray today for Heather Dood as she leads the Discovery Kidz and the other youth activities that take place during the week.  We pray for The Crossing after school program and the families that participate.
  • We thank God for the ministry of Connections.  We pray for Pastor George as he leads them each week. 
  • We pray for complete healing and return to health and strength for Bill Ver Hulst.
  • Keep Mary Huizen in your prayers as she recovers at her daughter’s home.
  • We pray for those who have recently lost loved ones.  We pray in particular today for the Newhouse family.  Ruth Newhouse, a former member of Grace, passed away on Saturday, December 3 at the age of 79.
  • We thank God for his faithfulness to Shirley De Bruin as she goes through Chemo treatments. We pray for strength.
  • Please continue to remember our family members who are in need of healing, comfort, and strength.  Larry Ver Merris, son of Ruth Ver Merris; Jackie, daughter in law of Roger and Phyllis Vander Sloot;  Deb Stouten, sister of Pastor Rick; Brent Kerkstra, son of Paul; Janet, sister of Wes Dekker; Lana, granddaughter of Ken & Cindy Wylie.
