 TODAY AT GRACE

TODAY WE REJOICE as we welcome the following new members
into the family at Grace:

Derk & Jenny Hendges with children Eva Marie, and
Devin John
. Derk and Jenny will both make Profession of Faith
in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Derk, Eva, and Devin will
be baptized. (3049 Nursery SW, Wyoming, MI 49519)

Brian Licari & Abbey Berneske with children Isabella,
Sophia, and Lucas Licari and Logan Berneske-Nutter.
Brian will be making Profession of Faith and Abbey will come to
Grace by Re-Affirmation of her Faith. All children are received as
baptized children. (0-332 Fennessy Dr., Walker, MI 49534)

OUR DISCOVERY KIDZ will present their Christmas Program
“Sing a Song of Christmas”. A huge thank you to Heather
Dood, our Children & Youth Coordinator, for her work with our
children. We are so thankful for her love, dedication, energy, and
time! Thanks also to all our kids and the many volunteers who made
it possible. See the separate insert for details of the program.

CAKE AND COFFEE will be served in the narthex following the
service in celebration of the Professions of Faith, Baptisms, and
Children’s Christmas Program this morning! Also, the Hendges are
hosting a celebration for family & friends in the Fellowship Hall.

THE SUNDAY SCHOOL GUIDE CLASS will meet in the
Consistory room following the morning service.
 

 PRAYERS & PRAISE

IN APPRECIATION – Thank you so much for the beautiful poinsettia
plant from the church. It was so nice to visit with Ray Zondervan
and his sons! ~Ann Hoezee

* Many of our elderly members expressed thanks to the church and the
deacons for delivering a Christmas poinsettia this year!

THE FOLLOWING PERSONS were elected to serve on the
Consistory beginning in January 2011:
ELDER: Jerry Vander Wal
DEACONS: Lorie Norden, Luke Nordlund, Ernst Otto
The names of the elected are printed in order that any legitimate
objections may be presented to the Board of Elders for it’s judgement
prior to installation and ordination of those persons.

Join us next Sunday as Pastor Rick will continue the Advent series
“WHEN HEAVEN CAME DOWN” with the message “WHEN
HEAVEN COMES TO STAY”. Our SENIOR CHOIR will present
the Christmas Cantata “Thou Shall Call His Name…JESUS”
during our 10:00 am worship service.

 SPECIAL DATES TO REMEMBER

Tuesday, December 21, 12:00 Noon – ELIZABETH CIRCLE will meet
for a Christmas lunch at the GrandVilla in Grandville. Please RSVP
to Gladys Kessel (878-1101) by December 19. All women welcome!

Saturday, December 25, 10:00 AM – CHRISTMAS DAY WORSHIP
SERVICE. Pastor Rick will present the message: “WAITING
FOR HEAVEN TO COME DOWN”. Our Christmas Offering is
designated for the Grace Building Fund.

Sunday, January 2, 2011 - INSTALLATION & ORDINATION of
newly elected Elder and Deacons will take place.

Sunday, January 9, 2011 – The sacrament of the LORD’S SUPPER
will take place during our morning worship service.

 MISCELLANEOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS

FEARLESS BY MAX LUCADO - Rev. Scott Crane will be leading a
study in January on this book. There are six sessions which will
begin on Wednesday, January 5th. Each session will consist of a five
to ten minute video with discussion afterwards. There is a hardcover
book and a small group discussion guide that participants can avail
themselves of to begin preparation for each session. A sign up sheet
will be on the narthex table for you to indicate if you would like us to
order the book, the study guide, or both.


DISCOVERY KIDZ – The next rotation, “Phillip and the
Ethiopian”, starts January 9. Cooking, drama, games, theater, and
shepherds still needed! See Heather if you can help, or sign up on
the narthex table. 
 

THERE WILL NOT BE A CLASS FOR DISCOVERY KIDZ on
Christmas Day or December 26th. Children are invited to join with
their parents in the sanctuary. ALSO, BE BIG Preschool Class
will not meet on Wednesday, December 15 and NO Nursery will
be available on that night!

DISCOVERY KIDZ are in need of JUICE BOXES. You can bring
your donations to the kitchen. Thanks!

GRACE FAMILY CHRISTMAS TREE – This year we are decorating
our Grace Christmas tree with ornaments collected from YOU!
Would you like to donate a special/favorite ornament from your
family tree? It will be returned to you when the tree is taken down.
Fill out your postcard (extra cards are on the board) and post it on
the poster board in the narthex to share with the congregation.

OUR SPECIAL OFFERING for Christmas Day and also the Month of
December is designated for the GRACE BUILDING FUND.

NEW NURSERY SCHEDULES are being prepared. If you would be
willing to help out in the nursery, even just a couple times, please
sign up in the narthex. If you are already a nursery volunteer, there
is no need to sign up…you will automatically be scheduled. Thanks!

LIVE NATIVITY at the Critter Barn. Imagine what the first
Christmas was like with sheep, goats, and angels. Hands on fun,
photos of Bethlehem, indoors, visit animals in heated barn. More
info on webstite www.critterbarn.org. Cost is $5.00 per person, with
a $20 max per family. Flyers are on the narthex table and downstairs
at the youth desk.

 We praise and thank God today for the Professions and Re-Affirmations of Faith by Derk & Jenny Hendges and Brian Licari & Abbey Berneske.
 We praise God for the baptisms of Derk, Eva, and Devin Hendges!
 We are so thankful today for our children and grandchildren.
 We praise God today for all the volunteers who helped at the Christmas Store yesterday.
 Please be in prayer for Harvey Steensma as he continues with chemo and radiation treatments.
 Also keep Jim Friar in your prayers as he undergoes rehab at Brookcrest.
 Be in prayer for Tama Henderson, a regular visitor at Grace, who will received implants to control her pain this upcoming week.
 We remember all those serving in the military during this Christmas season. Give them comfort and peace.
 We think today of Lucille Sytsema. Pray for encouragement and strength.
 Keep Dick & Ruth Locke’s daughter Amee Bekkering in your prayers as she receives treatment for breast cancer.
 Prayers are requested for Ruth Ver Merris’s son, Larry, age 55, who has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
 Keep Linda Hoezee, daughter in law of Ann Hoezee, in your prayers as she is undergoing chemotherapy.
 Please pray for Connie Maile, sister of Jim Emelander, who is battling cancer.
 Keep these friends and family serving in the military in your prayers: Amie Pierce, Doug Desmarais, Frank Senko,
