December 11, 2014

Dear Churches and other partner organizations,

Thank You to all the churches, small groups, and organizations who have ‘given’ so that the Wyoming Christmas Store and DeVos Hospital Christmas Store of 2014 could once again be a huge success and a blessing to so many families!  Twelve churches and organizations provided gifts for the stores and about 75 persons volunteered in some way! Every year I write thank you’s and with each passing year I realize that those words do not begin to express my deep gratitude to each person who has given of themselves in small or big ways to make events like this become a reality!  So, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart!!!

In summary, the Wyoming Christmas Store was able to assist about 126 families which represented about 320 children.  It was a wonderful joyful experience for these families but it also brought tears to the eyes of many of us!  People were so appreciative that ‘someone’ would allow them to shop in this special store where they were treated like ‘kings’ and ‘queens’!  Tears were shed, encouragement given, and prayers offered for a mom who lost her son to suicide just recently and a family who was about to be evicted from their home.…. and there were many more stories shared or not shared.

At DeVos Hospital about 60 children were able to select gifts for their immediate family members.  Again, it was such a joyful occasion (in the midst of sadness) because we were able to express love to these ‘hurting’ children and families.  The staff at DeVos Hospital is so supportive and so appreciative of our efforts to bring ‘joy’ to their children.

Thank You for serving with a heart like Jesus!

“God is not unjust; he will not forget your

work and the love you have shown him as you

have helped his people and continue to help them.”

 Hebrews 6:10

Have a blessed Christmas and New Year!

Shari Dood & Karen Besselson

  • We thank and praise God today for our Children.  We pray that they will each come to know, love, and serve our great God.
  • We are so thankful today for Heather Dood and her love and care for our children.
  • We pray for those who are hurting this holiday season.  May they feel the love of God surround them.
  • We pray for the families and children that come to The Crossing.  We pray for Heather as she leads them.
  • Please pray for Pastor George and Connections. We thank God for the lives that are touched by this ministry.
  • Continue to keep MaryLynn Huizen in your prayers as she has entered into hospice care.
  • We pray today for Lucille Sytsema as she submits to surgery Thursday.
  • We pray for Mac Mc Alary at Vista Springs. We pray for encouragement and strength.  We also pray for Mary as she has had some health concerns as well.
  • We continue to lift up Earl & Clare Reifel and the people they serve in West Africa as they battle the effects of the Ebola crisis there.
  • Continue to keep Lola De Young and her parents, Matt & Lindsey, in your prayers.

  • Pray for our Shut-in’s: Mr. Ralph Bolt, Mrs. Tena DeVink, Mrs. MaryLynn Huizen, Mrs. Wilma Kamphuis, Mr. Mac Mc Alary, Mrs. Ruth Ver Merris.

As other prayers are shared, you are invited to write them down and include them in your prayers for our congregation this week. Please keep the church informed of your prayer needs and praise reports.
