 prayer needs that you would like to share, please see the Pastor or

 an Elder today.  Elders will be greeting at the doors as you leave the

 sanctuary this morning and they are also listed on the back of your

 bulletin.  You may also make a notation on the Fellowship Register.



A warm welcome to our visitors and members alike during this season of Advent.  As we prepare ourselves to celebrate again the coming of our Lord, let us affirm the joy Christ brought into the world.  May such joy live within us as we worship the Lord.  Please take a moment and sign your name and address on the Fellowship Register as it is passed today.




9:50 – 11:15 AM DISCOVERY KIDZ will meet.  All kids ages

 3 years – 5th grade meet downstairs by the youth desk. 


TODAY OUR SENIOR CHOIR will present their Christmas Cantata 

 “SING AND SHOUT FOR JOY”.  Thank you to Paul Kerkstra, our

 Minister of Music, for your time and dedication!  Thank you to all the

 members of the choir for your special part in our Christmas



A PRAYER GROUP will meet following the service in the sanctuary

 to pray for Pastor George & Connections, and the needs and vision at

 Grace Reformed Church.


THE ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL class will meet in the Consistory

 Room following the morning worship service.  They cover various

 subject matter using the Sunday School Guide. 


6:00 – 8:00 PM Y-LIFE  This is our Christmas celebration night! Our

 theme: Flap Jacks and Flannels!!  Yes that's right come hungry and

 where your best flannel! Also bring a white elephant gift.




HEALTH CONCERNS:  Pastor George Grevenstuk will undergo knee

 replacement surgery tomorrow.  Linda Kraft will also have knee

 surgery Wednesday at Blodgett Hospital.  Please continue to be in

 prayer for Lorinda Vander Werp who fell and injured her right hand. 

 Bill Ver Hulst is at Marywood Health Center but expects to go home

 on December 22.  On Tuesday Jerry Hendrickson moved to

 Waterford Place Rehab in Jenison.  For all other praise reports and

 prayer concerns, see the prayers and praise line in your bulletin






 6:30 PM ELDERS will meet.

 7:30 PM CONSISTORY meeting.



 3:15 – 5:45 OR 8:00 PM THE CROSSING for grades 3-6.




DECEMBER 24, 2017 


NEXT SUNDAY Pastor Rick will share the message: “The Gift of

 A Loving Savior” at the 10:00 am worship service. 


Join us at 6:00 pm for a CANDLELIGHT CHRISTMAS EVE

 SERVICE. This will be a service of Lessons and Carols.




Sunday, December 31, 10:00 am – This will be PASTOR RICK’S last

 Sunday that he will be leading us and sharing the message.  We will

 have a time for cake and fellowship following the service.


Sunday, January 14 – Pastor Rick’s FAREWELL DINNER will follow

 this service.  This will be a special service honoring his years at Grace.

 See the insert in your bulletin today!





 volunteering/ministering to our community children, Donna will be

 retiring! Donna your many years of services has been very much

 appreciated. With this being said I would love to have a volunteer to

 fill that spot. 3:30-5:45 pm on Wednesdays. See Heather if you can



At THE CONGREGATIONAL MEETING last week the following

 persons were approved to serve on the Consistory beginning in 2018.

OUR SPECIAL OFFERING for the month of December and

 Christmas is designated for Pastor Rick’s retirement gift.  You may

 designate on your regular offering envelope, use a pew envelope, or

 your special offering envelope anytime this month.


YEAR END GIVING – Please have all gifts you wish to have credited

 to your 2017 Contribution Statement in by December 31.  Thank you

 to all who have contributed so generously throughout the year!


2018 CONTRIBUTION ENVELOPES for Grace members are now

 in your mailbox.  If you are not a member and wish to contribute to

 Grace Church, please call the office at 538-3100 and we will see that

 you receive envelopes.  Online giving is also available.  If you are

 interested in this, see Robin Zondervan or call the office.


CHRISTMAS BREAK – No Wednesday classes, Discovery Kidz, or

 Crossing Afterschool program will be held from December 19 –

 January 9 (with the exception of senior choir practice which will meet

 December 20 & January 3).  Wednesday family night and Crossing

 after school program will resume January 10.

Congregational Prayers and Praise


  • We thank and praise God today for the gift of music.  We are so thankful for our Minister of Music, Paul Kerkstra.  We also give thanks to Lorinda VanderWerp, Ruth Tacoma, and our Praise Team.  We thank them all for their dedication and time!
  • We pray for those who are hurting or away from home this holiday season.  May they feel the love of God surround them.
  • We thank and praise God today for our Children.  We pray that each one will come to know, love, and serve our Great God.
  • We pray today for Heather Dood as she leads the Discovery Kidz and the other youth activities that take here at Grace.  We pray for The Crossing after school program and the families that participate.

  • Please pray for the Holy Spirit’s presence and guidance as Pastor Rick and Donna go through these last few weeks at Grace.  We thank and praise God for their time here and their love for our congregation and community.
  • Please pray for Pastor George and Connections and for the youth and adults that attend each week.  We pray for them as they continue to grow and expand.
  • Please pray for the Search Team as they go about their work.  May the Holy Spirit guide their path. 
  • We lift up in prayer Pastor George and Linda Kraft who both will undergo knee surgery this week.
  • We pray for Bill Ver Hulst and Jerry Hendrickson today.  May they feel encouraged and strengthened. 
  • Please continue to remember our Grace members and members of their families who are in need of healing, comfort, and strength:  Esther Hoag, Char Otto, Shirley De Bruin, Brent Kerkstra, son of Paul;  Janet, sister of Wes Dekker; Lana, granddaughter of Ken & Cindy Wylie; Amee, daughter of Dick & Ruth Locke; Matthew Marshall, brother of Rick Marshall; Mel & Virgil Vander Sloot, brothers of Roger Vander Sloot; Jonathan and Robbie Stouten, nephews  of Pastor Rick; Rev. Al Schreuder, and Tom Cook and his family.
