 prayer needs that you would like to share, please see the Pastor or

 sanctuary this morning and they are also listed on the back of your

 bulletin. You may also make a notation on the Fellowship Register.

 

WELCOME

A warm welcome to our visitors and members alike during this season of Advent. As we prepare ourselves to celebrate again the coming of our Lord, let us affirm the joy Christ brought into the world. May such joy live within us as we worship our Lord. Please take a moment and sign your name and address on the Fellowship Register as it is passed today.

 

TODAY AT GRACE

9:50 – 11:15 AM DISCOVERY KIDZ MEET. All children ages 3

 years – 5th Grade meet downstairs by the youth desk.

 

A PRAYER GROUP will meet following the service in the sanctuary

 to pray for Pastor George and Connections.

 

THE ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL GUIDE CLASS will meet in

 the Consistory Room following the morning service today. This class

 covers various subject matter pertaining to our Christian walk. 

 

6:00 PM we will combine with Faith Reformed Church (618 – 32nd

 Street, Wyoming) for a special start to the Advent Season. We will

 take a look at Sinterklaas. Join us!

 

PRAYERS & PRAISE

 

HEALTH CONCERNS – Please keep Jane Duthler in your prayers as

 she is at Metro Hospital. For all other prayer requests and praise

 reports, see the Prayers & Praise Line.

 

OUR CHRISTIAN SYMPATHIES are extended to Rev. Roger

 Hendricks, our former calling Pastor, upon the death of his wife

 Barbara on Friday, November 22. Funeral services were held on

 Monday. If you would like to send a card to Pastor Roger his address

 is: 2121 Raybrook St, DeVos 350, Grand Rapids, MI 49546.

 

AT THE CONGREGATIONAL MEETING last Sunday the following

 persons were approved to serve on the Consistory beginning in

 January 2014:

 

 ELDERS: Dennis Bush, George Grevenstuk

 DEACONS: Tim Boeve, Rowin Mulder

 The Ordination and installation service will be held on Sunday,

 January 5.

 POLITICS AND THE NATION – THIS CLASS HAS

 BEEN CANCELLED. Watch for a new adult class to begin

 in January.

 UNDERSTANDING YOUR BIBLE – This class is led by

 Pastor Rick and meets in his office.

 2:30 PM SET UP for the Christmas Store. A light supper will

 be provided. 

 

 7:00 PM THURSDAY EVENING BIBLE STUDY GROUP will

 meet in the Consistory Room.

 

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 7, 2013

 WYOMING CHRISTMAS STORE – If you have not brought the

 gifts you purchased to church already, please do so by

 Wednesday. Everyone who volunteered to help, come 10

 minutes before your assigned time. If you signed up to bring

 cookies, please drop them off sometime before the store opens. 

 See Shari if you have any questions.

 

 

NEXT WEEK, DECEMBER 8, 2013

2nd SUNDAY IN ADVENT

 

NEXT WEEK Pastor Rick will continue the Advent series with the

 message: “Songs of the Soul: The Virgin Mother Kind”

 

6:45 – 8:00 PM Y-LIFE for Middle and High School Youth. You

 also will meet on Dec. 15. Note: there is NO meeting today, Dec. 1

 

DATES TO REMEMBER

Tuesday, December 10 – BEING THE HANDS program at DeVos
 Children’s Hospital. We are in still need of gifts for older youth and

 adults. Gifts of any amount are appreciated. Gifts can be brought to

 the library area by the Christmas tree. A box will be marked for them. 

 If you are interested in going to the hospital on that day,

 please sign up on the sheet in the narthex (even if you mentioned it

 earlier). Shari will contact you with details.

 

 

Sunday, December 15 – The DISCOVERY KIDZ CHRISTMAS

 PROGRAM “Signs of Christmas” will take place during the morning

 worship service.

 

 

Tuesday, December 17 – THE ELIZABETH CIRCLE will meet at the

 Grandvilla in Grandville for lunch at noon. All women at Grace are

 invited to join. Make reservations with Mary Bush at 538-5646.

 

Sunday, December 22 – The SENIOR CHOIR will present the

 Christmas Cantata “Festival of Carols” during the am worship service

Prayers & Praise Line

Congregational Prayers and Praise

 

  • We thank and praise God today for the gift of the Holy Spirit in our lives. We ask that we be filled anew this week that we can share His love with others.
  • We pray for the Christmas Store taking place this week. We praise God for the many who have bought gifts, will work in the store, and those who support in prayer. We pray for Shari Dood as she works this week to put everything in order.
  • We pray for the plans that are being made to host an Alpha Class here at Grace in January. We pray for Rowin & Rachel Mulder as they lead this process. We pray God’s leading was we think of persons to invite.
  • Please pray for Wes Dekker and his continuing issues with medications.
  • Please be in prayer for Jane Duthler at Metropolitan Hospital.
  • There are many friends and family of our church members that need your prayers this week. Please pray for:

 Jennifer Dirkse, granddaughter of Mary Huizen, who has just 

 been diagnosed with cancer.

 Barb, friend of Della Sawyer, just beginning chemotherapy.

 Tobiah Wiese, grandson of Betty Holmes, a newborn with some 

 serious health issues.

 Luke Dieffenbach, father of Juel Grevenstuk, undergoing 

 therapy at Porter Hills. 

 Jon Stouten, nephew of Pastor Rick, who has been diagnosed

 with Crohns Disease.

 Shawn Keener, battling cancer.

 Lola De Young and her family, as Lola continues to receive  

 treatments for a relapse.

  • Continue to keep Amie Pierce in your prayers as she is stationed at Fort Riley in Kansas. 
  • Pray for our Shut-in’s: Mr. Ralph Bolt, Mrs Tena DeVink, Mrs. Jane Duthler, Mrs. Wilma Kamphuis, Mrs Miriam Schrotenboer, Mrs Ruth Ver Merris.

 

As other prayers are shared, you are invited to write

them down and include them in your prayers for our congregation this week.
