A warm welcome to our visitors and members alike during this season of Advent.  As we prepare ourselves to celebrate again the coming of our Lord, let us affirm the joy Christ brought into the world.  May such joy live within us as we worship our Lord.  Please take a moment and sign your name and address on the Fellowship Register as it is passed.

TODAY AT GRACE

 

9:50 – 11:15 AM DISCOVERY KIDZ will meet.  All children ages

 3 years – 5th grade meet downstairs by the youth desk.

 

TODAY OUR SENIOR CHOIR will present their Christmas Cantata 

 Noel Celebration.  Thank you to Paul Kerkstra, our Minister of Music,

 for your time and dedication!  Thank you to all the members of the

 choir for your special part in our Christmas celebrations.

 

THE ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS will meet in the

 Consistory room following the morning service.  All are welcome!

 

A PRAYER GROUP will meet following the service in the sanctuary

 to pray for Pastor George & Connections, and the needs and vision at

 Grace Reformed Church.

 

PRAYERS & PRAISE

 

AT THE CONGREGATIONAL MEETING last Sunday, the

 following persons were approved to serve on the Consistory

 beginning in January 2016:

 ELDERS: Jerry Hendrickson, Elaine Martin

Also, Heather Dood will be ordained as an Elder

as required by the Commissioned Pastor Program.

 DEACONS:  Don Schutter, Daniel Stuk

 The Ordination and Installation service will be held on January 10.

 

OUR CHRISTIAN SYMPATHIES are extended to Rev. Rodger

 Dalman, our former Pastor, upon the death of his wife Phyllis on

 Sunday, December 13 at the age of 87.  Services for Mrs. Dalman

 were held on Friday.

 

CALENDAR OF THE WEEK

 

 Candle Light Christmas Eve Service

 Thursday, December 24, 6:00 pm

 

 Join us for a meaningful candlelight service with music, drama, and a  

 celebration of God’s love coming down to earth in a tiny little baby

 that Christmas morning long ago.  Pastor Rick will share the

 message: “Assurance of Salvation:  The Dazzling Light of Christmas”. 

 There are flyers available on the narthex table and sound board 

 that you can pick up and share with your family and friends!

 

There will also be a Christmas Day service at

Faith Reformed Church, 618 – 32nd Street,

Wyoming at 10:00 am.  Our congregation is

invited to join them for this special celebration.

 

NEXT WEEK, DECEMBER 27, 2015

 

NEXT SUNDAY Pastor Rick will share the message “Christ Can Do

 It:  Now Look Ahead” – A Celebration of Reading Through

 the Bible in a Year! We will not have an evening service next

 Sunday.

 

THE SPECIAL OFFERING for the month of December and

 Christmas is designated for the Grace Building Fund – Flat Roof

 repair.  This offering will be received on Christmas Eve and also

 December 27.

 

MISCELLANEOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

CHRISTMAS BREAK – No evening worship service will be held

 December 27.  The Crossing afterschool program will not meet this

 week or next.  They will resume on Tuesday, January 5.  Wednesday

 activities will resume on January 6.

 

THE CELEBRATION OF THE LORD’S SUPPER will be held on

 Sunday, January 3.

 

PRAISE TEAM – Your next practice is Monday, Dec. 28, 7:00 pm.

 

Y-LIFE – Your next meeting will be on January 3.  No meeting will be

 held on the 20th.

 

YEAR END GIVING – Please have all gifts you wish to have credited

 to your 2015 Contribution Statement in by December 27.  Thank you

 to all who have contributed so generously throughout the year!

 

2016 CONTRIBUTION ENVELOPES for Grace members are now

 in your mailbox.  If you are not a member and wish to contribute to

 Grace Church, please call the office at 538-3100 and we will see that

 you receive envelopes.  Online giving is also available.  If you are

 interested in this, see Robin Zondervan or call the office.

Prayers & Praise Line

Congregational Prayers and Praise

  • “Silent Night, Holy Night” – we reflect on the importance of that special night long ago.  Praise God that Christmas holds the answer to eternity for all believers.
  • We thank and praise God today for the gift of music.  We are so thankful for our Minister of Music, Paul Kerkstra.  We also give thanks for our pianists and organists who have given so much of their time throughout the year: Ruth Tacoma, Karen Ver Hulst, Lorinda Vander Werp.
  • We give God thanks today for our Praise Team.  We thank them for their dedication and time!
  • We pray for the Christmas Eve service being held at Grace on Thursday.  We pray that we will have the opportunity to reach someone with the love of God during this special night. 
  • We pray for those who are hurting this holiday season.  May they feel the love of God surround them.
  • We pray today for those who have recently lost loved ones.  In particular we pray for Rev. Rodger Dalman and his family. 
  • We give praise to God for our children.  We thank Heather Dood for all she does with the youth groups at Grace and the Crossing.  We pray for Heather as she continues her studies to become a Commissioned Pastor.
  • We thank God for the ministry of Connections.  We pray for Pastor George as he leads them each week.  We thank God for the lives that are touched by this ministry.
  • Remember Joan Formsma in your prayers following knee replacement surgery.  Also continue to remember Karen Ver Hulst in your prayers.
  • We give thanks that Ed & Kathy De Ruiter’s niece Wendy’s surgery went well.  They feel good about getting all of the cancerous tumor, but are awaiting test results. 
  • We thank God for the good news that Pastor Rick’s sister, Deb Stouten, was able to return to her home.  Thank you for your prayers on her behalf.
  • Thank you for remembering Wes Dekker’s sister, Janet, in your prayers. Please pray that she will develop, through the Holy Spirit, a positive attitude. 
  • Please remember Marie Mc Donald, friend of Esther Hoag, who has cancer. 
  • Please continue to be in prayer for Lola De Young and her parents Matt & Lindsey.  We thank and praise God that there is a real good chance she can come home for Christmas!
  • Pray for our Shut-in’s: Mrs. Tena DeVink, Mrs. Wilma Kamphuis, Mrs. Ruth Ver Merris, Mr. Jim Friar.
