A warm welcome to our visitors and members alike during this season of Advent.  As we prepare ourselves to celebrate again the coming of our Lord, let us affirm the joy Christ brought into the world.  May such joy live within us as we worship the Lord.  Please take a moment and sign your name and address on the Fellowship Register as it is passed today.

 

 

TODAY AT GRACE

 

9:50 – 11:15 AM DISCOVERY KIDZ for kids ages 3 years – 5th

 grade meets downstairs by the youth desk. 

 

ELDERS INVITATION If you have questions, concerns, joys, or

 prayer needs that you would like to share, please see the Pastor or

 an Elder today.  Elders will be greeting at the doors as you leave the

 sanctuary this morning and they are also listed on the back of your

 bulletin.  You may also make a notation on the Fellowship Register.

 

PRAYER GROUP will meet following the service in the sanctuary

 to pray for Pastor George & Connections, and the needs and vision at

 Grace Reformed Church.

 

THE ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL GUIDE CLASS will meet in the

 Consistory Room after the morning service. They cover various

 matters using the Sunday School Guide.  You are welcome to join in!

 

5:00 PM – We will join with One Wyoming for the annual Advent

 Unity Service.  This year it will be held at Casa de Oracion,

 1040 – 26th Street SW., Wyoming.  This is a collaborative Christian

 worship service for all!  A free DINNER will be served following the

 service.  Note the 5:00 pm start time!

 

6:45 – 8:00 PM Y-LIFE will meet.

 

PRAYERS AND PRAISE

 

HEALTH CONCERNS:  Continue to be in prayer for Bill Ver Hulst

 who is at Spectrum Butterworth.  Also, Marge Veldheer is a patient at

 Spectrum Blodgett.  For all other praise reports and prayer concerns,

 see the prayers and praise line in your bulletin today.

 

IN APPRECIATION – Thank you for your prayers expressions of

 concern and cards during my recent illness and surgery.  It is very

 comforting to have such a wonderful and caring community of

 believers here at Grace Reformed Church.  Thank you, Pastor Rick,

 will meet. 

 

2nd SUNDAY OF ADVENT

DECEMBER 10, 2017 

 

NEXT SUNDAY Pastor Rick will share the message: “The Gift of

 Caring Community”. The children will present their Christmas

 program “A Tree Lot Christmas”.  This musical will bring to life

 what it means to be a part of God’s family tree and the importance of

 sharing His love with others.

 

DATES TO REMEMBER

 

Thursday, December 14, 7:00 pm WOMEN'S MINISTRY is holding

 "CUP OF CHRISTMAS" event in the Fellowship Hall.  You may

 sign up to either just attend the evening with us or  decorate a table

 for Christmas and invite your own guests.  We are asking everyone to

 bring a dozen cookies if you wish to participate in the cookie

 exchange.  Sign up in the Narthex or email Heather.

 

Sunday, December 17, 10:00 am – The Senior Choir will present their

 Christmas Cantata “SING AND SHOUT FOR JOY”.

 

Monday, December 18 - ELDERS AND CONSISTORY will meet.

 

Sunday, December 24, 6:00 pm CANDLELIGHT CHRISTMAS EVE

 SERVICE.  We will also have a traditional 10:00 am service on

 December 24.  There will be no Christmas Day service.

 

Sunday, December 31, 10:00 am – This will be PASTOR RICK’S last

 Sunday that he will be leading us and sharing the message.  We will

 have a time for cake and fellowship following the service.

 

Sunday, January 14 – Pastor Rick’s FAREWELL DINNER will follow

 this service.  This will be a special service honoring his years at Grace.

 Please mark this date on your calendar!

 

MISCELLANEOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

At THE CONGREGATIONAL MEETING last week the following

 persons were approved to serve on the Consistory beginning in 2018.

 ELDER SLATE: Dale Dood, Rick Postema,

 Wes Dekker (One Year Term)

 DEACON SLATE:  Brian Licari, Lorie Norden

 Written reports are available on the narthex table from Pastor Rick,

 Heather Dood, and Pastor George Grevenstuk.  Copies of the budget

 are also available.

 

SHEETS NEEDED – I am a member of a quilt group at our Arizona

 church. We make quilts for the girls at Mingus Mountain Academy. 

 We are always in need of gently used sheets which we use as a

 backing for the quilts.  The sheets should be full, queen or king sized.

 If you have any to donate, please contact Willie Hiemstra at 532-2213.

Congregational Prayers and Praise

  • Please be in prayer for Heather Dood who will take her exams to become a Commissioned Pastor on Tuesday.
  • We thank and praise God for the many volunteers who took part in the Christmas Store yesterday, and for the many people who donated gifts for the children.  We pray that they will see the love of God working through us.
  • Please be in prayer for “Being the Hands” at De Vos Children’s Hospital Tuesday.  We pray for the children who are hospitalized during this Christmas season and their families.
  • Please pray for the Holy Spirit’s presence and guidance as Pastor Rick and Donna and all of us go through these days of transition. 
  • Please pray for Pastor George and Connections and for the youth and adults that attend each week.  We pray for them as they continue to grow and expand.
  • Please pray for the Search Team as they go about their work.  May the Holy Spirit guide their path. 
  • We pray for Bill Ver Hulst today.  May he feel encouraged and strengthened. 
  • We also pray for Marge Veldheer who is hospitalized.
  • Please be in prayer for Cindy Schutter’s brother Steve.  (Cindy is mom to Don Schutter and Heather Dood)  Steve had to have a second cornea transplant and he is not doing very well.  He is also having a lot of problems with his rheumatoid arthritis and auto immune disease.
