TODAY AT GRACE

 

9:50 – 11:15 AM DISCOVERY KIDZ MEET. All children ages 3

 years – 5th Grade meet downstairs by the youth desk.

 

A PRAYER GROUP will meet following the service in the sanctuary

 to pray for Pastor George and Connections.

 

THE ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL GUIDE CLASS will meet in

 the Consistory Room following the morning service today. This class

 covers various subject matter pertaining to our Christian walk. 

 

BUTTERBRAIDS are here from the GEMS! Please pick yours up

 downstairs in the Fellowship Hall after the morning service. There

 are extras!! If you would like more, or didn’t get a chance to order,

 come on down and pick one up! $12.00 each. 

 

6:00 PM SUNDAYS AT SIX – Join us tonight as we view the newest

 Billy Graham film “My Hope America: The Cross”. Billy

 Graham writes, “Our nation is at a critical crossroads, and “My Hope

 America” charts a new path of hope for our nation. Join us in the

 Consistory room.

 

6:30 – 8:00 PM Y-LIFE for Middle and High School Youth. Please go

 through your closet and find clothes/shoes you no longer wear to be

 donated to those in need!

 7:30 AM be at church to go to DeVos Children’s Hospital for

 BEING THE HANDS. If you have any gifts to donate you

 may put them in the library area, or on the desk in the

 office before Tuesday morning. 

  3:15 – 5:15 PM CLUB 3:16 for Grades 5 & 6.

 

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 11, 2013

 3:45 – 5:45 PM CLUB 3:16 for Grades 3 & 4.

 WEDNESDAY NIGHT LIVE!

 6:00 PM FELLOWSHIP DINNER! 

 On the Menu: Taco Bar! Enjoy dinner and fellowship prior to

 the nights classes!! 

 6:30 PM SENIOR CHOIR PRACTICE.

 6:45 – 8:00 PM DISCOVERY KIDZ Christmas Program

 Practice. This will be a full dress rehearsal, so it is very

 important that your child be there. 

 7:00 – 8:00 PM 

 'BELONGING' NEW MEMBER CLASS – If you have any

 questions, call Shari Dood at 538-7498. 

 UNDERSTANDING YOUR BIBLE – This class is led by

 Pastor Rick and meets in his office.

 

NEXT WEEK, DECEMBER 15, 2013

3rd SUNDAY IN ADVENT

 

NEXT WEEK Pastor Rick will continue the Advent series with the

 message: “Songs of the Soul: O Tidings of Comfort and

 Joy”. The DISCOVERY KIDZ will present their CHRISTMAS

 PROGRAM “Signs of Christmas” during the morning worship

 service. Following their presentation, the kids will head back

 downstairs to celebrate Jesus’ Birthday! Please have your children

 shop for a gift of mittens, gloves, scarf, or hat to place under our

 “Jesus Tree”. They will be donated to those in need. 

 

6:00 – 8:00 PM Y-LIFE for Middle and High School Youth. This will

 be our Christmas Celebration! Please bring a $5 - $10 gift card of

 your choice. Dinner will be provided. Bring along your favorite

 Christmas treat!

OUR CHRISTIAN SYMPATHIES are extended to the family of Jane

 Duthler who passed away on Monday, December 2 at the age of 88. 

 Services were held on Friday with Pastor Rick officiating.

 

IN APPRECIATION – Thanks to the congregation for the prayers,

 calls, and cards following my knee surgery and Randy’s procedures. 

 Thanks to the Wednesday night ladies for the food, and Joan Emaus

 for bringing it to us. Thanks to Pastor Rick for his visits. It’s great

 to belong to a family called Grace. ~Marge & Randy Veldheer

 

AT THE CONGREGATIONAL MEETING last Sunday the following

 persons were approved to serve on the Consistory beginning in

 January 2014:

 ELDERS: Dennis Bush, George Grevenstuk

 DEACONS: Tim Boeve, Rowin Mulder

 The Ordination and installation service will be held on Sunday,

 January 5.

 

DATES TO REMEMBER

 

Monday, December 16, 6:30 pm – ELDERS will meet.

 7:30 pm CONSISTORY MEETING. 

 All newly elected Elders and Deacons are invited to attend these  

 meetings.

 

Tuesday, December 17 – THE ELIZABETH CIRCLE will meet

 at the Grandvilla in Grandville for lunch at 12:00 noon. All women at

 Grace are invited to join. Make reservations with Mary Bush at

 538-5646 before noon on December 16.

 

Wednesday, December 18 GEMS CHRISTMAS PARTY - This year in

 Lieu of gifts, we are asking the girls to bring hats, gloves and mittens

 to the party so we can donate them to local children who need them.

 

Sunday, December 22 – The SENIOR CHOIR will present the

 Christmas Cantata “Festival of Carols” during the am worship service.

 

Wednesday, December 25, 10:00 am CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION! 

 

 Join us here at Grace as Pastor Rick shares the message: “The

Wednesday, January 8, 2014, 7:00 pm – SURPRISED BY HOPE by

 N.T. Wright is subject of the new Adult Class that will meet on

 Wednesdays beginning in January. This class is 6 weeks in length

 and will be led by Keith Van Zoeren. 

 

MISCELLANEOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

SHOVELING HELP needed for the winter months at Grace. 

 $10/hour. Please call the office if you, or someone you know, is

 interested.

The SPECIAL OFFERING for the month of December and also

Congregational Prayers and Praise

 

  • We are so thankful for all those who worked and donated items for the Christmas Store. We pray that we may have touched lives with God’s love through our actions. 
  • Please be in prayer for “Being the Hands” taking place Tuesday at De Vos Children’s Hospital.
  • We pray for the plans that are being made to host an Alpha Class here at Grace in January. We pray for Rowin & Rachel Mulder as they lead this process. We pray God’s leading as we think of persons we can invite. Please pray that people’s hearts will be open to our invitations.
  • We thank and praise God that Shawn Keener is doing well and is back to work at UCOM. Please continue to keep her in your prayers.
  • Please pray for Wes Dekker and his continuing issues with medications.
  • Please be in prayer for those who have recently lost loved ones. In particular we pray for the family of Jane Duthler.
  • There are many friends and family of our church members that need your prayers this week. Please pray for:

 Jennifer Dirkse, granddaughter of Mary Huizen, who has just 

 been diagnosed with cancer.

 Barb, friend of Della Sawyer, just beginning chemotherapy.

 Tobiah Wiese, grandson of Betty Holmes, a newborn with some 

 serious health issues.

  Luke Dieffenbach, father of Juel Grevenstuk, undergoing 

 therapy at Porter Hills. 

 Jon Stouten, nephew of Pastor Rick, who has been diagnosed

 with Crohns Disease.

 Lola De Young and her family, as Lola continues to receive 

 treatments for a relapse.

  • Continue to keep Amie Pierce in your prayers as she is stationed at Fort Riley in Kansas.
