2nd SUNDAY IN LENT
NEXT SUNDAY Pastor Rick will begin a new series of Lenten messages
“ANSWERING THE QUESTIONS OR QUESTIONING THE ANSWERS?
See the insert in your bulletin today with all the details. Next Sunday
is also BLANKET+ SUNDAY. Our SPECIAL OFFERING FOR
FEBRUARY will go to the Church World Service Blanket+ program
which is both global and local. When disaster strikes, people often
need blankets – and much more. Our offering will go to Blankets+,
which is first of all blankets, but includes long term needs like food,
shelter, safe water, tools, training, and other resources. Also locally
we are giving out 300 blankets to the homeless and agencies who
work with the homeless.
6:00 PM - THE LENTEN PULPIT EXCHANGE continues next Sunday
evening. Rev. Bruce Osbeck, Pastor of Faith Reformed Church,
will lead our service and share the message. Pastor Rick will be
preaching at Beverly.
TOILET PAPER DRIVE FOR FNOW – Please continue to watch for coupons
and sales and bring in the toilet paper for Family Network of
Wyoming Pantry before March 7.
DISCOVERY KIDZ VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! The next rotations are:
Resurrection - March 14 – April 11 and Jesus Baptized - April
18 – May 16. There are sign up sheets on the narthex table.
EASTER EGG HUNT – Saturday, March 27 This will be fun for our kids as
well as an outreach tool for the neighborhood. Included will be an
Easter video representing the real meaning of Easter to the children.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL – June 15 – 18 (Note the change of date)
This year VBS is going to be a step back to Marketplace 29 AD.
Many hands are needed to get this up and running. There will be
plenty of areas and an opportunity for all to help!!
MISSION WORK TRIP TO CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA - Would you like to
become part of a blitz rebuild in Cedar Rapids Iowa during the
week of May 2-8? In mid-June 2008, the Cedar River that runs
through the heart of Cedar Rapids crested at 19 feet above flood stage
and 24 feet above the average water level. Clean-up and rebuilding
efforts have been underway since then, but the need for
volunteer and monetary support will continue for many more years.
The RCA is joining with 9 other Church World Service communions
to rehabilitate 17 homes over the course of six weeks. (this is an
ecumenical build like we did in New Orleans last year!) Grace is
looking for 15 volunteers so check out the table in the narthex where
there is a sign up sheet and a handout with more details on the
project. Presently, we do not have information concerning the
accommodations. This trip can be completed in less than 7 hours so
we will not need lodging on the way down and back.
HELP FOR HAITI - MAKE A COMPLETE HYGIENE OR BABY KIT before
April 11. A description of the contents for these kits is on the table in
the narthex. The value of the kit is listed on the form so if you cannot
make one by yourself, combine resources with a friend! We recently
found out that several area churches are taking part in this so the
transportation is all arranged!
THE WORLD VISION EXPERIENCE: AIDS -- Step Into Africa exhibit will be
held at Community Reformed Church in Zeeland from February 24 –
March 1, from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM daily. This is a FREE event.
Reserve your 25 minute personal experience at
www.worldvisionexperience.org/lakeshore Step Into Africa is a
2500 square foot multi-media, interactive exhibit that allows
Americans to step into the lives of actual African children affected by
poverty, lack of clean water, and AIDS. Visitors walk through a
replica of an African village and experience the effects of the
pandemic in a real way as they listen to a personal audio track
relating the story of one of four children – and gain a completely new
perspective on the greatest humanitarian crisis of our time.
