ELDERS INVITATION If you have questions, concerns, joys, or
 prayer needs that you would like to share, please see the Pastor or
 an Elder today.  Elders will be greeting at the doors as you leave the
 sanctuary this morning and they are also listed on the back of your
 bulletin.  You may also make a notation on the Fellowship Register.
A warm welcome to our visitors and members alike.  We rejoice at the joy Christ brought to the world so long ago.  May such joy live within us as we worship the Lord.  Please take a moment and sign your name and address on the Fellowship Register as it is passed today.
DISCOVERY KIDZ will NOT meet today. 
 Rev. Howard Moths will be leading our worship service honoring
 Pastor Rick for his service to the Lord and to our church. Pastor
 Howard has served as the Associate Minister of Rosewood Reformed
 Church in Jenison, Michigan since March of 1985. He is a graduate of
 Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa and graduated from
 Western Theological Seminary in June of 1977. He served as the
 Associate Minister of the Bayshore Gardens Reformed Church in
 Bradenton, Florida from 1977 – 1985, before moving back to
 Michigan. He served as the clerk of South Grand Rapids Classis from
 July of 1989 through June of 1996. He has served as the clerk of the
 regional Synod of the Great Lakes from October of 1996 to the
 present. He was hired in December of 2013 to serve as the part-time
 Project Manager of the South Grand Rapids Classis. Howard was
 married to Pamela Stauble on October 6, 1978. They have three
 children: Jessica (29), Jonathan (27), and Amanda (24).
THE ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL class will not meet today! 
A FAREWELL DINNER CELEBRATION will take place in the
 Fellowship Hall downstairs following the service this morning!
HEALTH CONCERNS:  Brielle Wigent underwent an emergency
 Appendectomy with a few complications on Tuesday at DeVos
 Children’s Hospital. Please be in prayer for her as she recovers. 
 Harvey Steensma is home after undergoing back surgery on
 Wednesday. We pray that this surgery will help ease the pain and he
 will not have to go back for more surgery later.  Lillian Vander Veen
 had a heart monitor implanted on December 29 and is recovering at
 home.  For all other praise reports and prayer concerns, see the
 prayers and praise today.
IN APPRECIATION – We would like to thank our Grace Reformed
 Church family for the many calls, cards and prayers offered for Jerry
 through nearly a year’s struggle of poor health. We are comforted that he
 is now home with the Lord.  ~Sincerely, Karen Hendrickson and Family
 Thank you to the Grace Reformed Congregation for all the prayers, calls,
 cards of encouragement during my recent hospital stays. These are all
 heartfelt and welcomed during my recovery! A special thank you to Dale
 Dood for coming over and cleaning my driveway and sidewalks.

OUR CHRISTIAN SYMPATHIES are extended to Judy Klein upon
 the death of her brother-in-law, Jacob Klein, on Monday, January 8,
 at the age of 84.  Services were held on Friday at Thornapple Church.
A BELONGING NEW MEMBERS CLASS is beginning on January
 28th.  This is a 6 week class led by Shari Dood.  If you are interested in
 knowing more about the Reformed Church and Grace Church in
 particular, this class is for you!  This will enable you, but not obligate
 you, to become a member here at Grace.  Sign up in the narthex.  See
 or call Shari (538-7498) if you have questions.
 4:00 PM - CALLING ALL CLEANERS!! We are very excited
 that t he Crossing will have some items updated/installed.
 With this being said we are looking for help getting the
 Crossing cleaned up. We are having a cleaning night prior to
 the carpet/flooring being installed. Please meet at the
 Crossing. We will have some cleaning supplies but certainly
 your welcome to bring your own. With many hands this  
 should only take a couple of hours. If you have any questions
 please call the office.
 1:00 PM THE ELIZABETH CIRCLE will meet in the Consistory
 Room.  We will discuss Amos 4, Lesson 9 in our study books.
 All women are welcome.
 3:15 – 5:45 OR 8:00 PM THE CROSSING for grades 3-6.
 6:00 PM FELLOWSHIP DINNER – Pizza is on the menu!
 6:45 – 8:00 PM
 GEMS (Girls Everywhere Meeting the Savior) for girls in
 grades K – 8th.  Meet in the Choir Room.
 VICTORS – For boys in grades K – 8th
 BE BIG – For Preschool children.  Meet in the Nursery.
NEXT SUNDAY Pastor Jack Doorlag, who will be our interim Pastor,
 will be leading our service and sharing the message I FEAR! from
 Psalm 34:4, Mark 4:35-41.
A TOWN HALL style meeting will be held after the service with the
 BUILDING TASKFORCE.  Come to learn more about plans, start
 praying, and what the next steps will be.

Thursday, January 25, 7:00 pm - WOMEN'S MINISTRY NIGHT
 It's craft night!! We will have 3 different items available. Cost for the  
 night is $10 to cover the cost of supplies.  If interested, please sign up
 in the narthex.
CARING SHEPHERDS – Thank you to all those who have served so
 faithfully!  Updated assignments and family sheets will be sent out
 this week.  If you have any questions, please call the office (538-3100). 
OUR SPECIAL OFFERING for the month of January is designated  
 for THE OTHER WAY.  This offering will be received on Jan. 28.

DRIVER AND VOLUNTEER still needed for the Crossing on
 Wednesday. See Heather ASAP if you can help.
FREE BOOKS – Pastor Rick is clearing out his library.  You will find a
 number of books on the west side of the church library.  Feel free to
 take a look and take what you want.

Congregational Prayers and Praise

  • We thank and praise God today for Pastor Rick and Donna.  We are so thankful for their ministry and love for this congregation.  We pray for continued blessings on their lives as they open this new chapter. 
  • Please pray today for our staff and this congregation as we all go through this transition.  We thank God today for Pastor Howard Moths and Pastor Jack Doorlag who will walk alongside us during this time.
  • Please pray for the Search Team as they go about their work.  May the Holy Spirit guide their path.
  • We thank and praise God today for our Children.  We pray that each one will come to know, love, and serve our Great God.
  • We pray today for Heather Dood as she leads the Discovery Kidz and the other youth activities that take here at Grace.  We pray for the Crossing after school program and the families that participate.

  • Please pray for Pastor George and Connections and for the youth and adults that attend each week.  We pray for them as they continue to grow and expand.
  • Keep Brielle Wigent in your prayers as she recovers from surgery.  We pray for swift healing and a return to her many activities!
  • We offer prayers for Harvey Steensma following back surgery. We pray that this surgery will ease the pain he has been suffering.
  • We pray today for Lillian Vander Veen as she recovers from surgery. 
  • We lift up in prayer Pastor George and Linda Kraft as they undergo therapy following knee surgeries.
  • Also continue to pray for relief and healing for Les VanWyk.
  • We continue to pray for Bill Ver Hulst.  May he feel encouraged and strengthened. 
  • Prayers are requested for P. Zimmerman, currently an unbeliever who is in need of our prayers.
  • Pray for our Shut-in’s: Mrs. Tena DeVink, Mrs. Wilma Kamphuis, Mrs. Ruth Ver Merris, Mr. Jim Friar, Mrs. Betty Figueroa, Mrs. Mary Huizen.

As other prayers are shared, you are invited to write them down and include them in your prayers for our congregation this week. Please keep the church informed of your prayer needs and praises.
