TODAY AT GRACE

 

 TODAY we celebrate with our GEMS! The girls will be a part of the worship  

 service and tell us about their theme this year and what they have been doing. 

 Our SPECIAL OFFERING for the month of March is designated for the  

 GEMS organization and will be received TODAY.

 

 9:50 – 11:15 AM DISCOVERY KIDZ MEET.  All children ages 3 years -

 5th Grade meet downstairs by the youth desk.

 

 Following the morning service Y-LIFE is sponsoring a SPAGHETTI

 DINNER!  This will be a fund raiser for our Cran Hill Retreat! Everyone is  

 invited to attend!

 

 A PRAYER GROUP will meet following the service in the sanctuary to pray  

 for ALPHA, Pastor George and CONNECTIONS.

 

 THE ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL GUIDE CLASS will meet in

 the Consistory Room following the morning service today.  This class

 covers various subject matter pertaining to our Christian walk. 

 

PRAYERS & PRAISE

 

HEALTH CONCERNS – Phyllis Vander Sloot is doing well following

surgery and was able to return to her home on Thursday.  For all other prayer requests and praise reports, see the Prayers & Praise Line.

 

OUR CHRISTIAN SYMPATHIES are extended to Wes & Arlene Dekker following the death of his brother, John, on Wednesday, March 19.  Funeral services were held in Lansing, IL.

 

THE GEMS and VICTORS all will be on a retreat this upcoming

weekend!  The GEMS will be at Cran Hill Ranch and the boys are

staying in town!  Please keep the kids and their leaders in your prayers!

 study guide “GOD IS CLOSER THAN YOU THINK”

 NEXT SUNDAY Rev. El Zwart will lead our service and share the

 message at both our morning and evening worship services.  

 

DATES TO REMEMBER

 

 Wednesday, April 2, 6:00 pm WEDNESDAY NIGHT LIVE YEAR-END

 CELEBRATION.  All GEMS, Victors, Be BIG, and nursery kids are invited

 to the big event!  We will kick the night off with a pizza party at 6:00 pm

 followed by Veggie Tales “Veggies in Space” movie event at the Crossing. 

 We look forward to celebrating this amazing year with all of you!  *The class

 “God is Closer than You Think” will meet as usual in for their final session.”

 Tuesday, April 8, 7:00 pm MISSION/OUTREACH Team Meeting.

 

 Saturday, April 19, 10:00 am GRACE ANNUAL EASTER EGG HUNT. 

 Egg stuffers are needed and well as candy donations to fill the eggs

 (think small - peanut free please).  See Heather if you can help fill eggs. 

 Donations can be dropped off at the youth desk.

 ALSO NEEDED:  Help on the day of the hunt.  Needed are greeters,

 prize table workers, and egg placers.  See the volunteer sign-up

 sheet on the narthex table.

 

MISCELLANEOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

 DISCOVERY KIDZ need volunteers for the April rotation.  This is only  

 a 3 week rotation (No Discovery Kidz on Easter Sunday).  Needed are

 teachers for: Art and Cooking.  Also 3 Shepherds.  Sign up in the narthex or

 see Heather.

 

 PARKING LOT RE-CONSTRUCTION – Our parking lot is in dire

 need of attention.  If you would like to help fund this major project,

 donations will be welcomed!  Just designate “Building Fund” on your

 offering envelope. 

 

 

Prayers & Praise Line

March 23, 2014

 

Congregational Prayers and Praise

 

  • We pray today for our GEMS and their Leaders.  We are so thankful for this group of Girls!
  • We pray for Heather and the Y-Life Group as they prepare and serve dinner today.  We pray for them as they continue to meet and plan their upcoming retreat at Cran Hill Ranch.
  • We praise God today for the many opportunities for fun that we can have together.  We pray for the GEMS and Victors as they go on overnight trips next weekend.
  • We praise and thank God for all those who participated in the ALPHA program, in particular the leaders who spent so much time in preparation. 
  • We thank God today for his unfailing love for us.
  • Keep Phyllis Vander Sloot in your prayers as she heals from recent surgery.
  • We pray for all those who are mourning the loss of a loved one.  In particular we pray for Wes & Arlene Dekker and their family.
  • There are many friends and family of our church members that need your prayers this week.  Please continue to pray for Lola De Young and her parents Matt & Lindsey and Jennifer Kirkse, granddaughter of Mary Huizen, as she battles cancer.  Also, Barb, friend of Della Sawyer, undergoing chemotherapy, Jon Stouten after being diagnosed with Crohns disease, Rose Borkowski, mother of Anna, who has discovered a tumor in her throat and Julie, friend of Anna, whose husband has brain cancer; Marie Mc Donald, friend of Esther Hoag, who has cancer.
  • We pray for all those who are serving in the military.  Continue to keep Amie Pierce in your prayers as she is stationed at Fort Riley in Kansas. 
  • Pray for our Shut-in’s: Mr. Ralph Bolt, Mrs Tena DeVink, Mrs. Wilma Kamphuis, Mrs Miriam Schrotenboer, Mrs Ruth Ver Merris.

 

As other prayers are shared, you are invited to write them down and include them in your prayers for our congregation this week. Please keep the church informed of your prayer needs and praise reports.
