9:50 – 11:15 AM DISCOVERY KIDZ MEET.  All children ages 3

 years – 5th Grade meet downstairs by the youth desk.

 

A PRAYER GROUP will meet following the service in the sanctuary

 to pray for ALPHA, Pastor George and CONNECTIONS.

 

THE ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL GUIDE CLASS will meet in

 the Consistory Room following the morning service today.  This class

 covers various subject matter pertaining to our Christian walk. 

 

5:00 PM JOINT EVENING SERVICE at UNITY REFORMED

 CHURCH (4450 Poinsettia SE, Kentwood).  We will join with the

 congregations of Faith, Unity and Beverly for this special service as

 we begin Lent.  Please note the start time of 5:00 pm!

IN APPRECIATION – Thank you to my church family for the

 prayers and concerns during my recent hospital stay.  I hope to

 know by this week when the surgery will be to fix the problem.  The

 many phone calls, cards, and visits by Pastor Rick and Tymie Boeve

Tuesday, March 18, 1:00 pm THE ELIZABETH CIRCLE will meet in

 the Consistory room.  We will discuss Chapter 6 in our study book,

 Isaiah 11 & 12.  All women are welcome.

 

Saturday, March 22, Noon to 7:30 pm ALPHA HOLY SPIRIT DAY.

 The entire congregation is invited to join in on this day.  Some of the

 subjects covered are:  Who is the Holy Spirit?  What does the Holy

 Spirit Do?  How Can I Be Filled with the Holy Spirit?  How Can I

 Make the Most of the Rest of My Life?  Meals will be provided! 

 Please sign up in the sheet in the narthex if you would love to be a

 part of this day.

 

Sunday, March 23 – GEMS SUNDAY!  Our girls will be a part of the

 worship service and tell us about their theme this year and what they

 have been doing.  Our SPECIAL OFFERING for the month of

 March is designated for the GEMS organization and will be received

 on that day.

 

Sunday, March 23 – Y-LIFE is sponsoring a SPAGHETTI DINNER

 following the morning worship service. This will be a fund raiser for

 our Cran Hill Retreat!  Please come out and invite your friends!

Saturday, April 19 GRACE ANNUAL EASTER EGG HUNT.  Egg

 stuffers are needed and well as candy donations to fill the eggs (think

 small - peanut free please).  See Heather if you can help fill eggs. 

 Donations can be dropped off at the youth desk.

 

MISCELLANEOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

Y-LIFE YOUTH – We will meet on Friday, March 21 at 6:00 pm to

 prep and get things ready for the Fund Raiser dinner on Sunday

 the 23rd.  Everyone please plan to be there!  Also you will need to be

 at church on the day of the dinner at 9 am!! 

 

PARKING LOT RE-CONSTRUCTION – This snow will be going

 away at some point in time!!  Our parking lot is in dire need of

 attention.  If you would like to help fund this major project,

 donations will be welcomed!  Just designate “Building Fund” on your

 offering envelope.  You may also use pew envelopes with “Building

 Fund” designated.

 

ALPHA MEALS –  See the sign-up sheet in the narthex for a spot that

 will work for you.  You can volunteer to bring a salad, dessert, for part

 of the main dish.  Thank you all so much for helping! 

 

TOILET PAPER is being collected for FNOW.  Boxes are at the

 entrance doors for your donations.

Prayers & Praise Line

March 9, 2014

 

Congregational Prayers and Praise

  • We thank and praise God for the gift of eternal life for all who believe.
  • Today we thank God for the people in our lives who have taught us about Jesus.  We are thankful for Christian parents and grandparents, our pastors, Sunday school teachers, youth directors, VBS volunteers, Club 3:16 leaders and the many, many others who have influenced our journey.
  • We pray today for the Sawyer family following the loss of Sharon Sawyer’s mother, Katheryn, last Sunday. (Sharon is the daughter-in-law of John & Della)
  • Please be in prayer for the Alpha Classes as they continue. We thank God for the participants, the volunteers, all those who are a part of these classes.  We pray for the plans being made to invite many others to attend the Holy Spirit day.
  • There are many friends and family of our church members that need your prayers this week.  Please continue to pray for Lola De Young and her parents Matt & Lindsey and Jennifer Kirkse, granddaughter of Mary Huizen, as she battles cancer.  Also, Barb, friend of Della Sawyer, undergoing chemotherapy, Jon Stouten after being diagnosed with Crohns disease, Rose Borkowski, mother of Anna, who has discovered a tumor in her throat and Julie, friend of Anna, whose husband has brain cancer; Marie Mc Donald, friend of Esther Hoag, who has cancer and John Dekker, brother of Wes, as he is facing sight loss.
  • We pray for all those who are serving in the military.  Continue to keep Amie Pierce in your prayers as she is stationed at Fort Riley in Kansas. 
  • Pray for our Shut-in’s: Mr. Ralph Bolt, Mrs Tena DeVink,Mrs. Wilma Kamphuis, Mrs Miriam Schrotenboer, Mrs Ruth Ver Merris.

 

As other prayers are shared, you are invited to write them down and include them in your prayers for our congregation this week. Please keep the church informed of your prayer needs and praise reports.
