TODAY AT GRACE

 

9:50 – 11:15 AM DISCOVERY KIDZ MEET.  All children ages 3

 years – 5th Grade meet downstairs by the youth desk. Today you will

 join us in worship!

 

A PRAYER GROUP will meet following the service in the sanctuary

 to pray for Pastor George & Connections, and the needs and vision at

 Grace Reformed Church.

 

THE ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL GUIDE CLASS will meet in

 the Consistory Room following the morning service today.

 

6:00 PM MUSIC APPRECIATION SERVICE.  We will honor Paul

 Kerkstra, our Music Director for his 60 years of

 service to Grace Church!  A light supper will be

 served following the program.  The Veterans from the

 VETS facility will also be our guests.  Invite a friend

 and join us for this special service.

PRAYERS & PRAISE

HEALTH CONCERNS –  Mary Huizen was able to return to her home

 this past week!  Doug Grimm underwent hip replacement surgery. 

 Please keep him in your prayers as he begins the recovery and rehab

 process.  For all other prayer requests and praise reports, see the

***Newly Added:

OUR CHRISTIAN SYMPATHIES are extended to:

 The family of Mim Schrotenboer who passed away on Thursday,

 May 1, at the age of 99.  Visitation will be held at the Metcalf &

 Jonkhoff Funeral Home (4291 Cascade Rd. Grand Rapids) on

 Tuesday from 2-4.  A private funeral service will be held.

 

 Also our sympathies are extended to Gladys Kessel following the loss

 of her sister, Nell Vera, age 92, in Iowa.

Next Sunday Pastor Rick will continue the series of messages “I WANT

 TO TESTIFY” with the message:  “The Testimony of Job”.  No

 evening service will be held at Grace.

 

DATES TO REMEMBER

 

GRADUATION SUNDAY – June 1, 10:00 am.  We will honor

 our Discovery Kidz Graduates as well as those graduating from High

 School and College. SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION FORMS are

 available from the office for all Grace High School Seniors. Completed

 forms are due back to the office by May 11.  If you have any questions,

 please contact the Chairman of the committee, Wes Dekker.

 

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL – June 9-12, 6:00 – 8:15 pm 

 Yes! It’s time to start thinking summer!  The theme this year is 

 “FUN FAIR – WHERE GOD’S WORLD COMES

 TOGETHER!”  Sign-ups begin today!  An INFORMATIONAL

 MEETING will be held in the Fellowship Hall on May 18 following 

 the morning service.

 

 

MISCELLANEOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

OUR SPECIAL OFFERING for the month of May is designated for a

 Grace Mission Trip tentatively scheduled for this fall.  This offering

 will be received May 25.  Details will follow soon!

 

VOLUNTEER at Food Truck Distribution Site – Teresa Dood has asked

 for volunteers to help distribute food one day a month at Parkview

 Elementary School.  The cost of the truck is covered by a grant, so

 just volunteer help is the only need!  See the list on the narthex table

 and sign up to volunteer if interested.  Questions?  See Bill Ver Hulst.

 

CHURCH WORLD SERVICE (CWS) Learn and Serve Bus Trip

 to New Windsor, MD and Gettysbury PA November 3 – 7. 

 This is a hands on, educational mission opportunity volunteering in

 the warehouse where CWS kits and blankets are collected, packed,

 and shipped to those in need.  You will also learn about fair trade and

 life changing work of SERRV as you volunteer in the international

 gift shop.  More information is available on the narthex.

Congregational Prayers and Praise

  • We thank and praise God for the gift of music.  We thank God for the 60 years of service of Paul Kerkstra.  We pray for continued health and blessings for him.
  • We thank God today for the children in our lives.  We pray for our Grace Discovery Kidz as they worship today.
  • We pray for Heather Dood as she prepares for this year’s Vacation Bible School.
  • Prayers are offered today for those who have recently lost loved ones. 
  • Please be in prayer for Rowin Mulder who will be traveling to the Netherlands from May 6 – 20.  Also keep Rachel and the children in your prayers.
  • Sandy Farris thanks you for all the prayers for her mom following her ankle fracture.  Praise God for the prayers of the people!
  • We pray for Doug Grimm as he begins rehab following hip surgery.
  • We thank and praise God today for good test results for Anna Borkowski!
  • We pray today for Mary Huizen as she heals following a fall.
  • There are many friends and family of our church members that need your prayers this week.  Please continue to pray for Lola De Young and her parents Matt & Lindsey.  Also, Barb, friend of Della Sawyer, undergoing chemotherapy; Marie Mc Donald, friend of Esther Hoag, who has cancer; and Caitlin, friend of Abbey Licari, diagnosed with Leukemia.
  • We pray for all those who are serving in the military.  Continue to keep Amie Pierce in your prayers as she is stationed at Fort Riley in Kansas. 
  • Pray for our Shut-in’s: Mr. Ralph Bolt, Mrs Tena DeVink, Mrs. Wilma Kamphuis, Mrs Ruth Ver Merris.
