 PRAYERS & PRAISE

HEALTH CONCERNS – Al Grimm is back in at Butterworth Hospital. Jan
Higley fell last week and broke her wrist. Thankfully, surgery will not
be required. Tena De Vink will undergo outpatient surgery on
Thursday, May 13th. See the Prayers & Praise Line for all prayer
requests and praise reports.

OUR CHRISTIAN SYMPATHIES are extended to the family of June Snyder
who passed away on Sunday, May 2 at the age of 89. Pastor Rick
conducted funeral services for her on Wednesday at the Ofield
Funeral Home.

IN APPRECIATION – Thank you to the Grace family for the thoughts and
prayers, cards, and kindness shown following my knee surgery.

 NEXT SUNDAY – MAY 16, 2010

NEXT SUNDAY Pastor Rick will continue with his series of messages to
apply the Heidelberg Catechism to every day faith. The message
next week, “I BELIEVE I CAN COME CLEAN” is based on I Corinthians
12:1-11, Ephesians 4:1-6, 5:25-27. The Team on the Mission/Work
trip will share details of their week in Cedar Rapids with us.

TRAINING FOR THE NEXT DISCOVERY KIDZ ROTATION “Jesus feeds the
5000” will be next Sunday, May 16 following the morning service.
Meet with Heather in the Fellowship Hall.

3:00 – 5:00 PM S.O.S. (Service on Sunday) WESTOWN ADVENTURE
This will be a chance to explore “The Other Way” Ministries. An
interactive adventure is planned. You will have the opportunity to
see the 7 properties, hear from staff and neighbors, get a taste of
what it’s like to live, learn, work, grow, and play at “The Other Way”,
and experience firsthand the work God is doing in Westown!
We would like to know how many to plan for,
so please sign up on the sheet on the narthex table.

 MISCELLANEOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS

TWO SHEPHERDS are still needed for the next Discovery Kidz rotation
“JESUS FEEDS THE 5000”. Sign up in the narthex.

SIGN UPS are taking place for the SUMMER DISCOVERY KIDS. These are
only 3 week rotations. We will be studying the FRUITS OF THE
SPIRIT. Sign up in the narthex, or see Heather if you have any
questions.

NEEDED FOR VBS – Used or new flat sheets. You can put your donations
on at the youth desk on the lower level.

JUICE BOXES are needed for Discovery Kidz. If you are able to donate,
please drop them off in the kitchen.

MISSION/OUTREACH TEAM AND CONSISTORY – A combined meeting is
being planned for Monday, May 17 at 7:00 pm.

DEACONS – Please plan to meet on Monday, May 17 at 6:30 pm in
the Chapel just prior to the Consistory Meeting.

THE SPECIAL OFFERING for the month of May is designated for CRAN
HILL RANCH. This offering will be received on May 30th.

 VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL – MARKETPLACE 29 AD
 June 15 – 18 6:00 – 7:45 pm.

Please sign up in the narthex if you can help. This week a couple of new “job descriptions” are printed for you to consider:

KITCHEN CREW
You will be helping prep each day for the "bread making" and
baking the bread for the night for each tribe. You all be helping
prep sack dinners for Friday night family dinner night.

SET-UP CREW
Assist with setting up each tribal class room and all
their props needed as well as setting up marketplace.

We Pray and Trust God
Today is Mother’s Day! Praise God for your mother and
her influence in your life. Ask God to guide you as a
mother in leading your children to Him.

Church Plant Prayer Focus
Continue in prayer as the Mission/Outreach Team meets on
Wednesday and as they meet along with the Consistory on May 17.


Congregational Prayers and Praise
Please call the office if you would like to
share a Prayer Request or a Praise Report.

 We thank and praise God today for our mothers, grandmothers, and the other special women in our lives.
 We continue to pray for all those recovering from illnesses, surgeries or hospitalization.
 We thank you God for your healing powers and love for us.
 We pray today for Al Grimm once again in the hospital. Encourage him and may he feel your presence with him today.
 We are thankful that Jan Higley did not require surgery on her broken wrist. We pray for a speedy recovery.
 We pray for Tena De Vink as she undergoes outpatient surgery this week.
 Please pray for Sandy Farris’ father, Glenn Moore.
 Please pray also for Connie Maile, sister of Jim Emelander, who is battling cancer. Connie is doing quite well. Her tumor is inoperable, but is now stable. She is done with external chemo, but will continue with a chemo pill.
 Keep Ruth Mikula, mother of Marjean Tibbets, in your prayers.
 Keep these friends and family serving in the military in your prayers: Amie Pierce, Doug Desmarais, Frank Senko, Matthew Halverson, Dave Vander Berg, Nick Borkowski.
