TODAY AT GRACE

TODAY we welcome Alan & Sue Schreuder to our service. Alan and

 Sue Schreuder have served as RCA missionaries with the National

 Presbyterian Church of Mexico since 1980. Thank you, Al & Sue, for

 being at Grace and sharing your story and your ministry with us.

 

9:50 – 11:15 AM DISCOVERY KIDZ MEET. All children ages 3

 years – 5th Grade meet downstairs by the youth desk.

 

THE ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL GUIDE CLASS will meet in

 the Consistory Room following the morning service today. This class

 covers various subject matter pertaining to our Christian walk. 

 

A PRAYER GROUP will meet following the service in the sanctuary

 to pray for Pastor George and Connections.

 

PRAYERS & PRAISE

HEALTH CONCERNS – Luke Dieffenbach was transferred to Porter

 Hills Health and Rehabilitation Center (West) 3600 Fulton St. SE,

 Grand Rapids last Sunday. His recovery therapy is provided by Mary

 Free Bed therapists. He was encouraged to have a goal of a visit

 home for dinner at Thanksgiving and to be home by the holidays. The

 family would like to thank you for the visits, cards and prayers.

 Jen Koster is in Malibu, CA getting her medications adjusted. She

 will be there until about December 4. Please keep Jen and her family

 in your prayers. For all other prayer requests and praise reports, see

 the Prayers & Praise Line.

 

OUR CHRISTIAN SYMPATHIES are extended to Rowin & Rachel

 Mulder upon the very unexpected death of Rowin’s brother in the

 Netherlands this past week. Please pray for Rowin & Rachel as they

 have traveled there for the funeral services. Please pray for

 understanding and peace for the family at this very difficult time.

 POLITICS AND THE NATION – This is a 6 week study

 using a DVD by Charles Colsen. Wes Dekker will lead this

 class that meets in the Consistory room.

 UNDERSTANDING YOUR BIBLE – This class is led by

 Pastor Rick and meets in his office.

 Christmas Cantata “Festival of Carols” during the morning worship

 service. 

 

MISCELLANEOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

HELP NEEDED ON MONDAY, November 11 for CHILDCARE

 during the young adult Bible study. 6 pm – 8 pm. Please see

 Heather or call the office if you can help. Thank you!

 

BUTTER BRAIDS are once again being sold by our GEMS. Cost is

 $12.00 each. You can see one of the girls, or an order form is

 available on the narthex table. Orders are due November 17.

 

The SPECIAL OFFERING for the month of November and also

 Thanksgiving is designated for the RCA CARE Network for

 World Relief. This is the former Reformed Church World Service

 (RCWS). CARE represents Compassionate Action and Relief

 Efforts. This offering will be received on Nov. 24 and Thanksgiving Day.

 

THE HOLIDAYS ARE FAST APPROACHING! Once again we are

 Providing opportunities for you to help those in need!

  • Participate by buying gifts for the Wyoming Christmas Store. This store is set up for low income families of the neighborhood. Parents are able to purchase gifts for their children at ¼ the cost. See your mailbox for more information.
  • Help by purchasing gifts for the “Being the Hands” program that we are once again setting up at DeVos Children’s Hospital on Tuesday, December 10. We are in need of gifts for older youth and adults. Gifts of any amount are appreciated. Gifts can be brought to the library area by the Christmas tree. A box will be marked for these gifts. 
  • Holiday Giving Network – Volunteers are needed to provide a Christmas or Thanksgiving basket for a family in Kent County. If interested, sign up at www.accessofwestmichigan.org. Questions? Call the office here at church 538-3100.

 

ENJOY THE CITY coupon books are being sold by our Discovery

 Kidz! The cost is $20, with $10.00 of that going directly to the

 Discovery Kidz program. Last year they made over $400.00, making

 it the best fundraiser ever! The coupon book has coupons to over 100

 local merchants. A sample book is available on the narthex table.

 This sale will run until Nov. 17. They make great Christmas presents!

Prayers & Praise Line

November 10, 2013

 

Congregational Prayers and Praise

  • We thank and praise God today for Al & Sue Schreuder. We pray for God’s richest blessing on their ministry.
  • We pray for the people of Chiapas and the Tzotzil church.
  • We pray for the plans that are being made to host an Alpha Class here at Grace in January. We pray for Rowin & Rachel Mulder as they lead this process. 
  • We pray for those who have lost loved ones. We pray for Rowin and Rachel and their family in the Netherlands.
  • Please pray for Luke Dieffenbach. May he do well with is recovery therapy. 
  • Please be in prayer for Pastor Rick’s nephew, Jon Stouten. He has just been diagnosed with Crohns Disease.
  • Eva Moore, mother of Sandy Farris, fell on Tuesday and broke her ankle in 3 places. She underwent surgery on Wednesday. Please keep her in your prayers.
  • Please continue to keep Shawn Keener in your prayers.
  • Continue to be in prayer for Lola De Young and her parents, Matt & Lindsey. 
  • Continue to keep Amie Pierce in your prayers as she is stationed at Fort Riley in Kansas. 
  • Pray for our Shut-in’s: Mr. Ralph Bolt, Mrs Tena DeVink, Mrs. Jane Duthler, Mrs. Wilma Kamphuis, Mrs Miriam Schrotenboer, Mrs Ruth Ver Merris.
