TODAY AT GRACE

 

9:50 – 11:15 AM DISCOVERY KIDZ MEET. All children ages 3

 years – 5th Grade meet downstairs by the youth desk. 

 

A PRAYER GROUP will meet following the service in the sanctuary

 to pray for Pastor George and the new church start.

 

THE ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL GUIDE CLASS will meet in

 the Consistory Room following the morning service today. This class

 covers various subject matter pertaining to our Christian walk. 

 

PRAYERS & PRAISE

 

HEALTH CONCERNS – Fred Hiemstra returned home following an

 appendectomy earlier this week. Nate Zondervan is home after

 undergoing the 2nd of 3 surgeries for repair his cleft palate. For all

 other prayer requests and praise reports, see the Prayers & Praise

 Line in your bulletin today.

 

CONGRATULATIONS are extended to Christy Kleymeer and Lewis

 Hoss who were united in marriage in our Sanctuary on Friday,

 October 12 with Pastor Rick officiating.

 6:00 PM CONNECTIONS gathers at the Crossing for a time of

 Praise Singing, Devotions, and Dinner. 

 

 

NEXT WEEK, OCTOBER 21, 2012

 

NEXT SUNDAY Pastor Rick will share the message, “The

 Resurrection ” from The Story. Please read Chapter 27 in

 preparation. 

 

FOLLOWING the morning worship service a MISSION/OUTREACH

 TEAM meeting will be held in the Chapel. 

 

6:00 PM COMBINED REFORMATION SERVICE to be held at

 Faith Reformed Church. This will replace the service at Grace.

 

6:45 – 8:00 PM Y-LIFE for youth in Middle & High School meets at

 the Crossing.

 

DISCOVERY KIDZ will begin Christmas program practice Sunday,

 October 21st and will continue every Wednesday and Sunday until

 Sunday, December 16 when the kids will perform “Stranger in the

 Manger”. We’ll see how the Stranger in the Manger wasn’t really

 that strange at all, but is all a part of God’s plan of Salvation for our

 lives!

 

SPECIAL DATES TO REMEMBER

 

Saturday, October 27, 8:30 am – 4:00 pm - HABITAT FOR

 HUMANITY WORK DAY at the construction site which is still to

 be determined. We are hoping for 10-15 of YOU to sign up to help

 work on one of the Habitat projects. They have several projects going

 but will not know exactly what stage of construction the homes will

 be in since progress is dependent on all the volunteers before our

 date. The minimum age for volunteers is 16 years, although it is 18

 for the 'deconstruction' phase. Please sign up or contact Shari if you

 are interested. If you cannot give a whole day, please consider 1/2 day.

 

Sunday, October 28 – PASTOR SCOTT CRANE WILL BE

 INSTALLED as Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of

 Dimondale, MI in a special service at 2:00 pm. If you would like to

 join with others to go there and support Pastor Scott, a van will

 depart following the morning service. We will stop for lunch on the

 way down. Sign up on the narthex table or see Tymie Boeve. We will

 not have an evening service at Grace that evening.

 

Monday, October 29, 7:00 pm – PRAISE TEAM PRACTICE 

 Note the change of date!

 

Saturday, November 3 - GRACE VAN TRIP to Birch Run,

 Frankenmuth, and Bronners! We will be leaving church at 7:30 am

 and will stop on the way for a quick breakfast. We can all meet

 together for dinner if you would like. Cost is $10.00 per person plus

 your cost for meals. Sign up in the narthex!

 

MISCELLANEOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

OUR SPECIAL OFFERING for the month of October is designated

 for Cran Hill Ranch and Camp Geneva. This offering will be received

 on October 28.

 

ENJOY THE CITY coupon books are coming in November. The

 Discovery Kidz will be selling them for $20.00 each. They make

 great Christmas gifts!

 

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED to prepare the parsonage for Pastor George

 and Juel to move in. This will include cleaning, painting, and repairs.

 Sign up on the sheet in the narthex and we will contact you.

 

'BELONGING' NEW MEMBER CLASS -  The beginning date for

 the 'Belonging' New Member Class is being postponed until October

 28. Whether the class is held on Sunday following the worship

 service or Wednesday evening after dinner will be decided by those

 attending. The class usually has 6 sessions. Call Shari at 538-3100.

 

POVERTY SIMULATION WORKSHOP – The Poverty Simulation

 is a 2 ½ hour workshop designed to provide insight into what living

 in poverty is like. You will experience what low income families go

 through and some of the barriers they face. It will also encourage

 involvement in poverty reduction activities. It will be held Tuesday,

 Oct. 23, 6:30 – 9:30 pm at Ivanrest CRC, 3777 Ivanrest Ave,

 Grandville. See Shari if you are interested in attending.

Congregational Prayers and Praise

  • We thank God for this community we live in. For the many kind and compassionate persons who give of their time and talents to help those in need.
  • Remember little Nate Zondervan and his parents in your prayers as Nate begins the healing process.
  • Keep Fred Hiemstra in your prayers as he recovers following surgery this past week.
  • We remember in prayer the following family or friends of our members that are ill or receiving treatments: Lola De Young, Curt Boes, Dan De Vries, Brian Benthin
  • We thank and praise God that Amie Pierce, Mitch Dekker, and Brent Wenzel have all returned to the United States after serving overseas. Continue to keep these friends and family serving in the military in your prayers: Adam Simons and Justin Roelofs. 
  • Pray for our Shut-in’s: Mrs Tena DeVink, Mrs Miriam Schrotenboer, Mrs Anne Hoezee, Mrs Ruth Ver Merris.
