TODAY AT GRACE

 

TODAY WE WELCOME Rev. Harvey Hertz who will lead our service

 and share the message. 

 

9:50 – 11:15 AM DISCOVERY KIDZ will meet.  All kids ages

 3 years – 5th grade meet downstairs by the youth desk.  Our theme for

 October is “Use words to build people up, not tear people down”.

 (James 3:3-12)

 

A PRAYER GROUP will meet following the service in the sanctuary

 to pray for Pastor George & Connections, and the needs and vision at

 Grace Reformed Church.

 

THE ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS will meet in the

 Consistory Room following the morning worship service.  They cover

 various subject matter using the Sunday School Guide.  You are

 welcome to join them!

 

6:00 PM JOINT EVENING WORSHIP – For the month of

 October we will be meeting at FAITH Reformed Church

 (618 32nd St SW, Wyoming) for our evening service.  Rev. Harvey

 Hertz will share the message.

 

PRAYERS AND PRAISE

 

HEALTH CONCERNS – Please be in prayer for Emily Mc Elroy who

 was a passenger in a car that was in a serious accident last Saturday.

 Emily’s friend lost her life in that accident.  Emily has broken bones

 in her toes and is recovering.  Please pray for her and the 2 other

 friends who were also in the car. See the Prayers & Praise Line for all

 prayer requests and praise reports.

 

IN APPRECIATION – Thank you to my Grace family for the prayers

 and cards and to Pastor Rick for the visits following my hand

 surgery.  It is very much appreciated! ~Paul Kerkstra

 3:30 – 5:45 or 8:00 PM THE CROSSING for youth in Grades 3 & 4.

 WEDNESDAY NIGHT LIVE!

 6:00 PM FELLOWSHIP DINNER – We will have submarine

 sandwiches and ice cream!  Come out and enjoy dinner and a

 time of fellowship prior to classes.

 6:30 PM SENIOR CHOIR PRACTICE.

 6:45 – 8:00 PM

 GEMS (Girls Everywhere Meeting the Savior) for girls in

 grades K – 8th.  Meet in the Choir Room.

 VICTORS – For boys in grades K – 8th

 BE BIG – For Preschool children.  Meet in the Nursery!

 7:00 – 8:00 PM ADULTS

 FORGIVING THOSE WHO HURT US – Meets in the 

 Consistory room.  This upcoming week we will be studying

 Chapter #4 in Lewis Smedes’ book “The Art of Forgiving –

 When You Need to Forgive and Don’t Know How.”  If you

 need a book or study guide, see Lorinda Vander Werp.

 

NEXT SUNDAY, OCTOBER 23, 2016

 

NEXT SUNDAY Pastor Rick will continue the series “The Contagious

 Community” with the message:  “Building a Community that Loves: 

 A Godly People”.

 

DATES TO REMEMBER

 

Wednesday, October 26, 6:00 pm – TRUNK OR TREAT.  Looking for

 volunteers to decorate your trunks or a table inside (you don’t have to

 decorate for “Halloween”, it can be any type of decoration or bible

 story, etc) and hand out candy to the neighborhood children.  Note

 that this year we will have tables set up inside as well as

 your trunks outside.  Indicate which spot you would prefer when

 signing up on the narthex table. We will also need servers for the hot

 dog dinner that will be provided!  See Heather if you have any

 questions.  ALSO WE ARE IN NEED OF CANDY. Candy can be  

 dropped off in the bin at the youth desk downstairs.

 

MISCELLANEOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

DESSERTS are needed for our Wednesday night dinners.  A sign-up

 sheet is in the narthex if you would be willing to take a turn.  Please

 remember that Grace is a peanut free facility.  Thank you so much!

 

DISCOVERY KIDZ – Volunteer sign-up sheets are on the narthex

 table through December!  Find a place where you can help! 

 

Our SPECIAL OFFERING for the month of October is designated for

 ACCESS.  This offering will be received on October 30. 

 

THANKSGIVING SERVICE – Our Thanksgiving Day service will be held

 at Faith Reformed Church this year at 9:45 am.  This is a part of a

 continuing effort to join with our sister churches for special services and

 activities.

 

FAMILY NETWORK OF WYOMING is in need of the following:

 Toilet Paper, Toothpaste , Toothbrushes, Hand Soap, Lotion,

 Shampoo, Hair Care (Hair Spray/Conditioner), Deodorant (also

 Men’s Shampoo and Deodorant).  We will continue to collect for

 the month of October.

Congregational Prayers and Praise

 

  • We pray as we work through the process of electing Elders and Deacons to serve on the Consistory. 
  • Please pray for our staff here at Grace.  Pray for Pastor Rick, Heather Dood, Paul Kerkstra, Lorinda Vander Werp and Sue Stuk.
  • We pray for Pastor George and Connections and for the youth and adults that attend each week.
  • Keep Emily Mc Elroy in your prayers as she goes through this difficult time.  We pray that her foot heals quickly.
  • Lift up Mary Huizinga in your prayers as she is at Brookcrest for a time of healing.
  • Remember in your prayers the sister of Trena Battjes.  Her sister is really struggling since the loss of her daughter in February at the age of 39.
  • Please keep Shirley De Bruin in your prayers as she continues chemo treatments.  We thank God for his faithfulness to Shirley as she goes through treatments. 
  • Please continue to remember our family members who are in need of healing, comfort, and strength.  We pray for Jackie, daughter in law of Roger and Phyllis Vander Sloot;  Mike Stuk, brother of Dan; Betty Parps, mother of Tymie Boeve; Deb Stouten, sister of Pastor Rick; Brent Kerkstra, son of Paul; Janet, sister of Wes Dekker.
  • Lift up Josh Sawyer in prayer as he is home and stationed in Battle Creek.
