 TODAY AT GRACE
 
TODAY we will celebrate communion with Christians around the
 world on World Wide Communion Sunday  We invite all those who
 are members of Christ’s Church and have found forgiveness of sins in
 Him, to participate in this supper.  If you are aware of someone who
 is not here today, but would like to receive this sacrament, please
 contact the church office.
 
 CHILDREN & WORSHIP
 Children ages 3 & 4 years meet in Room 1 in the Discovery
 Kids hallway with Worship Leader Heather Dood. 
 Children K – 2nd Grade meet in the choir room with
 Worship Leaders Lynda Ver Merris and Amy Grimm. 
 You will be dismissed during the offering time. 
 
DEACONS WILL RECEIVE YOUR NOMINATIONS for Elders & Deacons this
 morning as you leave the sanctuary at the conclusion of the morning
 service.  Nomination slips are provided in today’s bulletin (extras are
 available on the sound desk).
 
THE BELONGING (New Members Class) will not meet this week.  We will
 have class two on October 8 during the Sunday School hour.
 
11:20 AM–12:20 PM SUNDAY SCHOOL - There are classes
 available for all ages three years old and upward.  A nursery is
 available for those children under the age of three. 
 
ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES
 Sunday School Guide Class will meet in the Consistory Room.  Join
 them for lively discussions relating to our Christian walk.
 Spiritual Warfare in the Old Testament – Brad Class will lead this  
 group in the Chapel. 
 You Were Shaped For Serving God – Taken from the 40 Days of
 Purpose materials, this Dood/Zondervan Bible Study Group will
 meet in the main room at The Crossing each week. 
 
SUNDAY’S AT SIX - Join us in the CHAPEL for the evening worship
 service.  A time of discussion will follow the message.
 
 PRAYERS & PRAISE
 
HEALTH CONCERNS – Marge Veldheer was hospitalized for a couple
 days and is awaiting test results, but feeling better.  Curt Boes is
 scheduled for heart bi-pass surgery on Tuesday, October 3rd.  Barb
 Engels  underwent surgery last Monday and is now at home
 recuperating.  See the Prayers & Praise Line today for all the Prayer
 Requests and Praise Reports.
 
IN APPRECIATION –Thank you to Pastor Rick for his visits and my Grace
 family for all the calls, prayers, and other acts of kindness following
 my recent surgery.  It is wonderful being a part of the Grace family.

 neighborhood giving away 9 volt batteries for smoke detectors

 Church and Life with the message “The Standard of Structure” ~

ALASKA CHALLENGE MEETING – More persons are welcome to join the
 group going to Alaska July 21-31, 2007 for the Spiritual  &
 Leadership Development trip.  The second informational meeting
 will be held next Sunday.  Contact Shari Dood or Ray & Robin
 Zondervan for more information.
 
SUNDAYS AT SIX – Pastor Rick will share the message “The Promise of
 the Canaan Land” from the series Where Sin and Sacred Meet. 
 Discussion will follow the message.

Saturday, October 14, 9:00 am COUNTY WIDE FOOD DRIVE – Volunteers
 are still needed for the County Wide Food Drive.  More adults and
 youth are needed to be part of a carload to pick up food donations in
 our neighborhood…both drivers and runners (or walkers).  A sign up
 is in the narthex.  If you have any questions, call Shari.  Remember
 the fun begins with a Praise Rally in the sanctuary at 9:00 am. 
 Following the Rally, cars go out to get the food.  Then volunteers sort
 & box the food for the pantries.  Usually most of the work is done by
 1:00 pm, but feel free to pick your own hours to work.
 YOUTH…we need your help too!  Please sign up in the narthex if you
 can help.  See Darrell if you have any questions.
 
Tuesday, October 17, 7:00 pm MISSION/OUTREACH TEAM meeting.
 
Tuesday, December 5th WOMENS CANDLELIGHT CHRISTMAS.  Save the
 date.  Sandy Bennett will be our guest speaker.  A special evening is
 being planned for your family & friends!  Dessert will be served in the
 Fellowship Hall.  Once again tables will be festively decorated by the
 hostesses.  You won’t want to miss this annual holiday event.  Start
 thinking about being a hostess!
 
 MISCELLANEOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS
 
URGENT FOOD COLLECTION!  The Food Pantries are either out or have
 a very low supply.  In the past Grace has really come through to
 help so PLEASE bring all food donations to church anytime from
 now until the  County Wide Food Drive on October 14th.  Thank you! 
 
MEN – If anyone is interested in playing in a BASKETBALL LEAGUE at
 Beverly Reformed Church on Tuesday nights, see Darrell or email
 him at darrell@gracewyoming.org.  The first session will begin on
 October 17 and run for 10 weeks.  A second session will begin in Jan.
 
WOMEN OF GRACE – You are invited to attend the THRIVE! Simulcast to
 be held Saturday, November 4 from 9 – 5 at Brightside Community
 Church in Caledonia.  Set aside one day for this unforgettable
 women’s conference and learn how to be intentional in your
 relationships.  By making time for the connections that refill and
 refresh you, you’ll be equipped to thrive in all your
 relationships!  We will meet at church and all go together.  Cost is
 $25.00 per person which includes morning refreshments and lunch.

BOOKS IN THE LIBRARY – Have you checked out the church library
 lately??  There are many new books! Older youth…check out the
 library upstairs for books by Laura Ingalls Wilder; the Mandie
 Mystery Series, the Cedar River Daydreams Series, the Cooper Kids
 Adventure Series for Kids by Frank Peretti, and also the Left Behind
 Series for Kids. Adults…new books by Lynn Austin, Francine Rivers,
 Lori Wick and more!  The Children’s library is located in the
 Discovery Kids Hallway.  Video’s as well as books are available there!
 
THE GEMS are doing OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD this year as a service
 project.  We are in need of shoe boxes in good condition.  Please put
 them in the kitchen downstairs.  Items needed to supply needy
 children a gift box for Christmas are:  small toys (such as match box
 cars, hand held toys, etc.) small stuffed animals, color books, hard
 candy, toiletries (such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, combs, brushes,
 wash cloths, kleenex, etc).  You may also make monetary donations to
 help cover the cost of shipping these boxes.  Boxes will be placed in
 the narthex and downstairs for your donations.
 
A LIST OF SNACK ITEMS needed for the children’s Sunday School is on
 the narthex table.  Any donations appreciated. 
 
TOOLS NEEDED FOR THE CADETS! If you have any hand or power tools
 that you would like to donate to the Cadets, contact Jayme Dood at
 534-1794.
 
WOULD YOU LIKE TO BUILD A HOME in St. Charles Louisiana for
 hurricane victims?  The RCA is partnering with Habitat again and
 they are in need of volunteers November 6-10.  If you are at all
 considering this trip, please contact Shari TODAY, OR BY WEDNESDAY
 AT THE LATEST.  In the spring we will also be looking at a work
 project, either with Habitat in LA or doing home repair/cleanup in
 the McComb Mississippi area.
 
D & W FUND RAISING DAYS ARE HERE AGAIN! D & W will donate 5% of
 our group’s total sales back to our Youth Groups.  All you need is our
 code 95688.  Local participating D & W’s are the Grandville, Breton
 Village, Caledonia, Rockford & Cascade stores.  The dates for this
 promotion are OCTOBER 1-7 and NOVEMBER 12-18.  Just jot down
 our code and shop!
