ELDERS INVITATION If you have questions, concerns, joys, or

 prayer needs that you would like to share, please see the Pastor or

 an Elder today. Elders will be greeting at the doors as you leave the

 sanctuary this morning and they are also listed on the back of your

 bulletin. You may also make a notation on the Fellowship Register.

 

TODAY AT GRACE

 

TODAY we welcome Rev. Cecil Martens who will lead our service and

 share the message. Thank you, Rev. Martens, for being with us this

 Lord’s Day.

 

9:50 – 11:15 AM DISCOVERY KIDZ MEET. All children ages 3

 years – 5th Grade meet downstairs by the youth desk. The kids

 have begun Christmas program practice and will continue every

 Wednesday and Sunday until December 16 when they will perform

 “Stranger in the Manger”. Please make every effort to have your kids

 at practice whenever possible.

 

OUR SPECIAL OFFERING for the month of October is designated

 for Cran Hill Ranch and Camp Geneva. This offering will be received

 this morning.

 

A PRAYER GROUP will meet following the service in the sanctuary

 to pray for Pastor George and the new church start.

 

THE ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL GUIDE CLASS will meet in

 the Consistory Room following the morning service today. This class

 covers various subject matter pertaining to our Christian walk. 

 

'BELONGING' NEW MEMBER CLASS -  If you are interested in

 attending this class, meet Shari Dood in Pastor Rick’s office following

 the service today. 

 

REV. SCOTT CRANE will be INSTALLED as Pastor at the First

 Presbyterian Church of Dimondale, MI today at 2:00 pm. If you

 would like to join with others to go there and support Pastor Scott,

 a van will depart following the morning service. We will stop for

 lunch on the way down. 

 

NO EVENING SERVICE WILL BE HELD AT GRACE.

 

PRAYERS & PRAISE

 

HEALTH CONCERNS – Lucille Systema was able to return to her

 home on Friday! For all other prayer concerns and praise reports,

 please see the insert in your bulletin today.

 

IN APPRECIATION – Dear Grace Congregation: We, as

 grandparents, wish to thank all the people at Grace who prayed for

 our grandson, Mitch Dekker, while stationed in the area of

 Afghanistan for nearly a year. Also, a special thanks to Mary

 Mc Alary for the box she sent to Mitch. He was very grateful for

 that gesture of kindness and caring. ~Wes & Arlene Dekker

 

 We feel so blessed to have had the support of our Grace family after

 our unexpected surgeries recently. We thank you for your

 prayers, visits, cards and meals.

SPECIAL DATES TO REMEMBER

 

Wednesday, November 7, 2012 – GEMS SPONSORED DINNER! It

 will be a Chili and Soup night. Put that date on your calendar and

 plan on coming to church for supper and support the GEMS!

 

Sunday, November 25, 2012 – ELECTIONS for Elders & Deacons will

 take place and a CONGREGATIONAL MEETING will be held

 following the morning service.

 

MISCELLANEOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

OUR GEMS will be putting together “Breakfast Bundles” for the

 Kids Food Basket Program. These Breakfast Bundles are used for

 children in need to eat on long weekends and holidays while not in

 school. The items needed for the bundles are: single serving cereal

 boxes, small 100% fruit juice boxes (less than 7 oz.), Poptarts, small

 raisin boxes, and 100% Vitamin C fruit snacks. The GEMS will be

 putting these baskets together on November 7. You can bring your

 donations to the church kitchen or the donation box near the front

 doors. Thank you!

 

ENJOY THE CITY coupon books are coming in November. The

 Discovery Kidz will be selling them for $20.00 each. They make

 great Christmas gifts!

 

PAPER GATOR – During the month of November we will get

 double points for all our papers recycled! Recycle your magazines, 

 phone books, newspapers, etc at the Paper Gator in our parking lot. 

 Proceeds are split between the Boy Scouts and Grace. Thank You!

 

CHICAGO BUS TRIP – We have been invited to join a bus trip to

 Downtown Chicago on Friday, November 30. They will leave at

 7:00 am from the parking lot of Zion Reformed Church in Grandville. 

 We will return approximately 10:30 pm. Cost is $35.00.

Prayers & Praise Line

Congregational Prayers and Praise

  • We thank God today for the ministry of Rev. Cecil Martens.
  • We praise and thank you Lord for the many good things in our lives. May we be ever mindful of all our blessings.
  • Please keep Joan Emaus’ brother, Gil (age 89), in your prayers following open heart surgery on Thursday, Oct. 25.
  • We thank and praise God that Lucille Sytsema was able to return to her home this week. We pray for her continued healing and strength.
  • Please remember those in prayer who are mourning following the loss of a loved one. In particular we pray for the Lorie Norden and family upon the death of Lorie’s Uncle, Rev. Russell Norden, age 86, who passed away on Monday, October 22. Rev. Norden was a RCA Missionary in Japan for 38 years. 
  • We remember in prayer the following family or friends of our members that are ill or receiving treatments: Lola De Young, Curt Boes, Dan De Vries, Brian Benthin.
  • Continue to keep these friends and family serving in the military in your prayers: Adam Simons and Justin Roelofs. 
  • Pray for our Shut-in’s: Mrs Tena DeVink, Mrs Miriam Schrotenboer, Mrs Anne Hoezee, Mrs Ruth Ver Merris.

 

Church Plant Prayer Focus

 Please pray for:

  • 2 additional new small groups meeting in homes.
  • A committed core group of 27 adults by November.
  • The work of the “Launch Team” for our February 2013 launch.
  • “Joyful Giving” taking root in people’s lives.
  • Families actively inviting their neighbors to Connections.
  • God revealing the Holy Spirit working in the lives of those attending Connections.
  • Folks responding to our 20 – 20 challenge – $20 a week for 20 weeks.

 

 Please praise God for:

  • The need for more kid’s helpers for 2 BY 2 kids class. (For those answering this prayer the sign up sheet is on the Narthex table.)
  • The 7 committed “Launch Team” Members.
  • Two existing small group adult Bible studies.
  • More new people responding to our door to door “Pop-In” drive.
