ELDERS INVITATION If you have questions, concerns, joys, or

 prayer needs that you would like to share, please see the Pastor or

 an Elder today.  Elders will be greeting at the doors as you leave the

 sanctuary this morning and they are also listed on the back of your

 bulletin.  You may also make a notation on the Fellowship Register.

Whatever led you to our church today, we believe God rejoices in having you in  

this place.  Please take a moment and sign your name and address on the Fellowship Register

as it is passed today.

 

TODAY AT GRACE

 

TODAY WE CELEBRATE THE SACRAMENT OF THE LORD’S

 SUPPER with Christians around the world!  We invite all those

 who are members of Christ’s Church and have found forgiveness of

 sins in Him, to participate in the supper.  A brief Communion

 Service will be held in the Chapel following the service for

 anyone who was not able to be present during the worship

 service.  If you are aware of someone who is not here today, but

 would like to receive this sacrament, please contact the church office.

 

NOMINATIONS will be received for the 2017 Consistory at the close of

 the morning service today.  Deacons will be at the exits to collect your

 slips as you leave the sanctuary.  If needed, additional nomination

 slips are available on the sound board. 

 

9:50 – 11:15 AM DISCOVERY KIDZ will meet.  All kids ages

 3 years – 5th grade meet downstairs by the youth desk.  Our theme for

 October is “Use words to build people up, not tear people down”.

 (James 3:3-12)

 

A PRAYER GROUP will meet following the service in the sanctuary

 to pray for Pastor George & Connections, and the needs and vision at

 Grace Reformed Church.

 

THE ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS will meet in the

 Consistory Room following the morning worship service.  They cover

 various subject matter using the Sunday School Guide.  You are

 welcome to join them!

 

Y-LIFE PARENTS – There will be a brief meeting in the Fellowship

 Hall following the worship service this morning. We will go over the

 Silver Ring event details and what our plans are for the year. 

 

6:45 – 8:00 PM Y-LIFE will meet.  “How Does Your Story Fit into

 God’s Story?”

 

6:00 PM JOINT EVENING WORSHIP – For the month of

 October we will be meeting at FAITH Reformed Church

 (618 32nd St SW, Wyoming) for our evening service.  Rev. Harvey

 Hertz will share the message.

 6:00 PM FELLOWSHIP DINNER –Home Cooked hot dishes

 are on the menu made by our own Choir!  Come out and

 enjoy dinner and a time of fellowship prior to classes.

 6:30 PM SENIOR CHOIR PRACTICE.

 6:30 – 7:45 PM VICTORS CAR WASH! 

Please join us for the Victors ONLY fundraiser this year.

We are asking this year that you do not just hand keys to the leaders

or kids (we may have misplaced some last time).  

The car wash will be donation based. 

**VICTORS PARENTS the boys will participating in the car  

wash and most likely will be getting wet!  Please bring extra clothes  

 for them if you do not want then wet in your cars. Please let  

 Grandparents and family know so they can come

 GEMS (Girls Everywhere Meeting the Savior) for girls in

 grades K – 8th.  Meet in the Choir Room.

 BE BIG – For Preschool children.  This week:  “A Rainy,

 Rainy Day – The Story of Noah”  Meet in the Nursery! 

 7:00 – 8:00 PM ADULTS

 FORGIVING THOSE WHO HURT US - Lorinda

 VanderWerp will be leading this Bible study utilizing Lewis

 Smedes’ book “The Art of Forgiving – When You Need to

 Forgive and Don’t Know How.”  Everyone is invited to attend.

 Meets in the Consistory room.

 8:00 PM WORSHIP DESIGN TEAM MEETING.

 

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 6, 2016

 7:00 PM THE THURSDAY NIGHT SMALL GROUP  

 They will meet once a month in the Consistory Room and will

 study the Book of Proverbs. We have room for newcomers.

NEXT SUNDAY Pastor Rick will continue the series of messages

 “The Contagious Community” with the message “Building a

 Community that Multiplies:  A Discipling People”.

IN APPRECIATION – Thank you for all the prayers, visits, cards,

 and phone calls on my behalf during the last couple of weeks.  Your

 prayers and our Almighty's touch of healing was evident. I am truly

 Thank you to Pastor Rick for his visits and call after knee surgery

 and to the congregation for the visits, calls, and cards.  All were

MISCELLANEOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS

THE WORSHIP DESIGN TEAM meets monthly to discuss ways to

 creatively add to the worship of our Lord and Savior at Grace.  If you

 have any suggestions or concerns, we would invite you to let the team

 know!  Members of the team are Shari Dood, Ray Zondervan, Robin

 Zondervan, Paul Kerkstra, Lorinda VanderWerp, Sandy Farris, Erika

 Wigent, Jerry Hendrickson, Brian Licari, George Grevenstuk, Pat

 Ter Beek, Elaine Martin and Pastor Rick.  Also, if you are interested

 in serving on the team we would love to have you join us!

 

DESSERTS are needed for our Wednesday night dinners.  A sign-up

 sheet is in the narthex if you would be willing to take a turn.  Please

 remember that Grace is a peanut free facility.  Thank you so much!

 

DISCOVERY KIDZ – Volunteer sign-up sheets are on the narthex

 table through December!  Find a place where you can help! 

 

CARETAKER – We are looking to fill the position of caretaker here at

 Grace.  Tymie Boeve is no longer able to fill this position due to her

 health concerns.  This new position will include maintenance duties.

 If you are interested or know of someone who might be, please call

 the church office (538-3100) for more information.

 

Our SPECIAL OFFERING for the month of October is designated for

 ACCESS.  This offering will be received on October 30. 

 

FAMILY NETWORK OF WYOMING is in need of the following:

 Toilet Paper, Toothpaste , Toothbrushes, Hand Soap, Lotion,

 Shampoo, Hair Care (Hair Spray/Conditioner), Deodorant (also

 Men’s Shampoo and Deodorant).  A box will be put by the entry

 doors for your donations.  Thank you so much!

 

THE OTHER WAY MINISTRY turns 50 next fall and they are going

 to celebrate this milestone all year long.  They will be kicking off this

 celebration with an open house gathering to unite all supporters and

 neighbors.  Join them on Tuesday, October 4 from 5:30 – 7:30 pm at

 704 Fulton West, GR.  Enjoy food from local establishments, sharing

 of experiences, and plans for the future.  RSVP online at

Congregational Prayers and Praise

 

  • We pray for God’s leading as we submit names of persons we are nominating to serve on the Consistory.
  • Please pray for our staff here at Grace.  Pray for Pastor Rick, Heather Dood, Paul Kerkstra, Lorinda Vander Werp and Sue Stuk.
  • We pray for Pastor George and Connections and for the youth and adults that attend each week.
  • Remember Joan Formsma, John Sawyer, Sandy Sorenson, and Paul Kerkstra in your prayers following surgery.  We pray for quick and complete healing.
  • Please keep Shirley De Bruin in your prayers as she continues chemo treatments.  We thank God for his faithfulness to Shirley as she goes through treatments. 
  • We continue to keep Tymie Boeve and her mom in our prayers. 
  • Remember Jackie, daughter in law of Roger & Phyllis Vander Sloot, in your prayers.  She began the radiation treatments this past week. 
  • Also, please pray for Mike Stuk, brother of Dan, who has been fighting cancer.  He has now entered into hospice care.
  • Keep Robbie Stouten, nephew of Pastor Rick and Donna, in your prayers. 
  • Please continue to keep Sandy Sorenson’s niece, Rachel, in your prayers. 
  • We ask for prayers for Wes Dekker’s sister, Janet as she has had a setback due to recent surgery. 
  • Please keep Brent Kerkstra, son of Paul, in your prayers.  Prayers for a complete return to health and wellness.
  • Lift up Josh Sawyer in prayer as he is home and stationed in Battle Creek.
