neighbor churches, Faith, Beverly, and Newhall as well as Christians

OUR CHRISTIAN SYMPATIES are extended to:

Bill & Ruth Tacoma and family upon the death of their daughter,
Linda, on Thursday, October 2nd at the age of 40. Visitation will be
held on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 at the Matthysse Kuiper DeGraff
Funeral Home on Clyde Park.  Services will be held at Grace
Monday, October 6 at 11 am with Pastor Rick officiating.

Ruth Ver Merris, Shirley De Bruin, and the extended Ver Merris
Family
upon the death of Gordon Ver Merris on Tuesday, September
30. Visitation will be held at Matthysse Kuiper De Graff Funeral
Home in Grandville from 5 – 8 PM on Tuesday and Wednesday.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, October 9 at 11:00 am
in the sanctuary at Grace.


IN APPRECIATION – Dear Grace Friends: Thank you to Pastor Rick for
his visit, for your prayers, cards, and other kindnesses extended to
me during my convalescence from knee surgery. It is appreciated
very much. ~Sheryl Steensma

I would like to thank my Grace family for all the prayers for Carole
as she fought the good fight for so long and as she went home
to be with the Lord. Thanks for all the prayers, cards, and other
acts of kindness shown to me. Thank you to Pastor Rick, Paul
Kerkstra, Terri Stadt, Tymie Boeve, Lynda Ver Merris and all those
who helped prepare the lunch or helped clean up following the
service. It is all greatly appreciated.

Thanks to all the Cadet counselors who went on the Chuckwagon
Campout this past weekend! Your service in the Lord does not go
unnoticed. Also a special thank you to all leaders and helpers of
Sunday School, Children & Worship, and Family Night for your time
and efforts to lead our children in the way of the Lord!

their ticket will see the play “Church Basement Ladies”.
We will leave church at 6:15 pm or you can meet us at the
Van Singel Auditorium at 6:30 or so.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 10, 2008
5 – 9 PM DISCOVERY KIDS MOVIE NIGHT. Youth Director Darrell
will host a night of movies, pizza, popcorn, and FUN! Parents
are welcome…kids bring your friends!

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 11, 2008
9:00 AM COUNTY WIDE FOOD DRIVE – Adults and youth are needed
to be part of a carload to pick up food donations in our
neighborhood…both drivers and runners (or walkers), and
sorters. The fun begins with a praise rally in the sanctuary at
9 am. Following the rally, cars go out to get the food. Then
volunteers sort and box the food for the pantries. Most of the
work is done by 1:00 pm, but feel free to pick your own hours
to work.

 NEXT SUNDAY – OCTOBER 12, 2008

NEXT SUNDAY – Pastor Rick will continue the series GROWING IN
DISCIPLESHIP with the message: “Going My Way?” from
John 14:1-21.

Meet at church for fun then we will head to Marne to ride the
Pumpkin Train. The ride starts at 3 PM. Cost is $14.50/adults,
11:50/kids and 2 and under free. Church members will be ½ off!! All
are welcome…Sunday School, GEMS, Cadets, C & W, and even
nursery! See Darrell if you have any questions.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 25 BIRCH RUN/FRANKENMUTH SHOPPING TRIP
sponsored by the Fellowship Team. We will leave church at 8:00 am
and have dinner at Zehnders. Cost is $$15.00 per person which
includes van ride, donuts, and coffee. Sign up in the narthex!

 MISCELLANEOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS

CADET SUB AND CROISSANT SALE – All Cadets will be selling
subs/croissants from October 3 – 19. Many varieties are available at
a cost of $3.00 each! An order sheet is available on the narthex table
or see a Cadet! Subs will be delivered on Wednesday, November 5th.
Thank you for your support!

OUR SPECIAL OFFERING for the month of October is designated for
ACCESS (All County churches Emergency Support System). This
offering will be received October 26.

COOKBOOKS for sale! Proceeds to go towards enhancements for our
church kitchen. Cost is $6.50 each. These cookbooks make great
gifts! Order sheets are available on the narthex table.

HOLIDAY FOOD BASKETS: If you would like to provide a “needy” family
with food for Thanksgiving or Christmas please sign up in the
narthex and Shari will connect you with a family name from UCOM
(ACCESS). Please respond by Nov. 1 so that we can get you a name.

• Willie Hiemstra as she learns more about the difficulties with her
eyesight and awaits her appointment later in the month
• Jerry Peterson, son of Ade & Marge, recently diagnosed with cancer
• Wilma Osterink whose cancer has returned
• The Tacoma and Ver Merris families as they mourn the loss of their
loved one
• Those in our church family with health concerns, are healing following
surgeries, or have recently been hospitalized ~ those members include:
