TODAY AT GRACE

 

TODAY WE CELEBRATE THE SACRAMENT OF THE LORD’S

 SUPPER. We invite all those who are members of Christ’s Church

 and have found forgiveness of sins in Him, to participate in the

 supper. A brief Communion Service will be held in the

 Chapel following the service for anyone who was not able

 to be present during the worship service.  If you are aware of

 someone who is not here today, but would like to receive this

 sacrament, please contact the church office.

 

9:50 – 11:15 AM DISCOVERY KIDZ MEET. All children ages 3

 years – 5th Grade meet downstairs by the youth desk. 

 

ELDERS INVITATION If you have questions, concerns, joys, or

 prayer needs that you would like to share, please see the Pastor or

 an Elder today. Elders will be greeting at the doors as you leave the

 sanctuary this morning and they are also listed on the back of your

 bulletin. You may also make a notation on the Fellowship Register.

 

THE ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL GUIDE CLASS will meet in

 the Consistory Room following the morning service today. This class

 covers various subject matter pertaining to our Christian walk. 

 

A PRAYER GROUP will meet following the service in the sanctuary

 to pray for Pastor George and Connections.

 

6:45 – 8 PM Y-Life will meet at the Crossing.

 6:00 PM FELLOWSHIP DINNER – On the menu: Lasagna

 Dinner with all the extras! Come out and enjoy dinner and a

 time of fellowship prior to classes. 

 

 6:30 PM SENIOR CHOIR PRACTICE.

 

 7:00 – 8:00 PM

 S.O.N.G. (Soldiers of the Next Generation) for kids ages

 Preschool – 5th Grade will meet. The theme this year

 “The Armor of God”

 ADULTS

 The Old Testament Tabernacle – This class is studying 

 the symbolism, typology, prophecies, and imagery of the

 tabernacle. Wes Dekker leads this class in the Consistory room.

 Understanding Your Bible – Learn about themes,

 people of the Bible, connections throughout Biblical history,

 and how God has formed and fashioned his people from Adam

 & Eve through the life of the church today. Meet with Pastor

 Rick in his office.

 

 ACCESS COUNTY WIDE FOOD DRIVE THIS SATURDAY! 

 Please pick up a bag today from the narthex! All the

 donations that we collect here at Grace will be

 donated to Family Network of Wyoming. You may bring

 your bags to church Monday – Thursday this week between 9 - 3. 

 You may also drop your bag off at a local grocer. Volunteers are still

 needed to help sort and box donations at UCOM (1311 Chicago Dr.

 Wyoming). You may come anytime between the hours of 9 am –

 2 pm. Help is also need at local grocery stores collecting the

 donations that are dropped off. Call Gary at Family Network of

 Wyoming (885-9919) for your assignment.

 

NEXT WEEK, OCTOBER 13, 2013

NEXT WEEK Pastor Rick will continue the series of

 Messages “Body & Soul”, with the message “Living Out Gratitude”. 

 Further study will take place during the evening worship service. 

 

PRAYERS & PRAISE

HEALTH CONCERNS – Marge Veldheer will undergo knee

 replacement surgery on Thursday, October 10. Luke Dieffenbach,

 father of Juel Grevenstuk, is hospitalized at Metropolitan Hospital. 

 He is showing improvement and is expected to be transferred to

 Mary Free Bed Hospital soon. For all other prayer requests and

 praise reports, See the Prayers & Praise Line in your bulletin.

Saturday, October 19, 1:00 pm FALL FAMILY FUN at Fruit Ridge

 Hayrides! The Fellowship Committee is sponsoring a fall event at

 Fruit Ridge Hayrides, 11966 Fruit Ridge Ave., Kent City, MI 49330.

 We would like everyone to arrive at 1 p.m. -- they have lots of

 activities: hay ride (which you can stop off at a pumpkin patch or

 apple orchard to pick your own), corn maze, and for the little kiddos -  

 petting zoo, pony rides, tractor rides. The hayride costs $6 per

 person, 2 year-olds and under are free. There are two corn mazes this

 year $6 (two mazes for the price of one) -- Pumpkins are $5; U-pick

 apples are priced per peck/bushel. Sign up in the narthex!

Wednesday, October 30 from 6 – 8 pm TRUNK OR TREAT - Looking 

 for volunteers to decorate your trunks and hand out candy to the

 neighborhood children. Since this is a fifth Wednesday in our

 rotation, it will free some of you up to participate! Please sign up in

 the narthex or see Heather.

 

Friday, November 8, 6:30 pm VEGGIE TALES LIVE for all those

 with reservations! See Ms. Heather if you have any questions!

 

MISCELLANEOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

COLLECTION OF WINTER WEAR – For the month of October we

 will be collecting winter gloves and hats for the children in need that

 attend Parkview Elementary School. Teresa Dood has asked that we

 consider partnering with her in this project that is so needed for

 many of the children right here in Wyoming. Be on the lookout for

 gloves (preferred over mittens) and hats as they become available in

 the stores this fall season. 

 

ACCESS HOLIDAY GIVING NETWORK is once again asking for

 volunteers to provide a Christmas or Thanksgiving basket for a family

 in Kent County. You will be matched with a family in our area that is

 in need of holiday dinner food items. If interested, sign up at

 www.accessofwestmichigan.org. Questions or need more

 information? Call the office here at church 538-3100.

Congregational Prayers and Praise

  • We pray today for our Christian brothers and sisters around the world celebrating the Lord’s Supper.
  • We thank God for the freedom we have in this country to worship our Great God.
  • We pray today for the leaders of our country.
  • We praise God for the many volunteers that will be involved with the ACCESS Food Drive this week. 
  • We thank God for this community we live in. For the many kind and compassionate persons who give of their time and talents to help those in need.
  • We pray for the plans that are being made to host an Alpha Class here at Grace. We pray for Rowin & Rachel Mulder as they lead this process. 
  • Keep Marge Veldheer in your prayers as she undergos knee surgery this week.
  • Lift up Luke Dieffenbach in your prayers. We pray for strength and patience as he begins therapy. 
  • We pray today for Rose Borkowski, mother of Anna, who has struggled through so many health issues of late. We pray for her as she continues testing and the possibility of surgery.
  • Please be in prayer for Betty Holmes, friend of Jan Higley, who underwent knee surgery.
  • Please pray for Shawn Keener who is battling cancer. Shawn has begun her stem-cell transplant at Spectrum in is now in isolation. She will be there at least 4 weeks. Thank you all for your continued prayers on her behalf.
  • Continue to be in prayer for Lola De Young and her parents, Matt & Lindsey. 
  • Continue to keep Amie Pierce in your prayers as she is stationed at Fort Riley in Kansas.
  • Pray for our Shut-in’s: Mr. Ralph Bolt, Mrs Tena DeVink, Mrs. Jane Duthler, Mrs. Wilma Kamphuis, Mrs Miriam Schrotenboer, Mrs Ruth Ver Merris.
