TODAY AT GRACE

 

TODAY WE CELEBRATE THE SACRAMENT OF THE LORD’S

 SUPPER. We invite all those who are members of Christ’s Church

 and have found forgiveness of sins in Him, to participate in the

 supper. A brief Communion Service will be held in the

 Chapel following the service for anyone who was not able

 to be present during the worship service. If you are aware of

 someone who is not here today, but would like to receive this

 sacrament, please contact the church office.

 

9:50 – 11:15 AM DISCOVERY KIDZ MEET. All children ages 3

 years – 5th Grade meet downstairs by the youth desk. 

 

A PRAYER GROUP will meet following the service in the sanctuary

 to pray for Pastor George and the new church start.

 

THE ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL GUIDE CLASS will meet in

 the Consistory Room following the morning service today. This class

 covers various subject matter pertaining to our Christian walk. 

 

6:45 – 8:00 PM Y-LIFE for youth in Middle & High School meets at

 the Crossing.

 

 

PRAYERS & PRAISE

 

HEALTH CONCERNS – Nate Zondervan will undergo surgery at

 De Vos Children’s Hospital on Tuesday. Please keep the Zondervans

 in your prayers. For all other prayer requests and praise reports, see

 the Prayers & Praise Line in your bulletin today.

 

OUR CHRISTIAN SYMPATHIES are extended to Neal & Judy Klein

 and family upon the death of Judy’s mother, Lucille Bosma, on

 Monday, October 1 at the age of 96. Services were held on Saturday.

 

IN APPRECIATION - Your thoughtfulness in expressing sympathy to

 us, with cards and prayers, in the recent "ongoing" of Mac's

 sister, Marian, is appreciated. A special thank you to Shirley

 De Bruin, for her extended kindness. -Mac and Mary Mc Alary

 S.O.N.G. (Soldiers of the Next Generation)

 Children preschool through 5th Grade will meet with Mrs.

 Heather in the Fellowship Hall. The theme this year is “Travel

 Guide to the Lord’s Prayer”. 

 ADULTS – Come and join the discussion of “The Story”. 

 The study “CONNECT THE D.O.T.S. will connect the

 Sunday sermon with additional study options. Pastor Rick

 will lead this class.

 

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 11, 2012

 6:00 PM CONNECTIONS gathers at the Crossing for a time of

 Praise Singing, Devotions, and Dinner. 

 

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 13, 2012

 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM COUNTY WIDE FOOD DRIVE – The

 morning will begin with a Praise Rally in our sanctuary. 

 You can still sign up in the narthex to help drive or sort and

 box. 

 

NOTE: Volunteers will be needed to pass out grocery bags to the neighborhood for them to fill. 

This can be done anytime this week beginning today! See Shari in the narthex immediately

after the worship service if you are available to help today, or sign up for a time you would

be available this week and Shari will coordinate with you.

 

 5:00 - 7:00 PM PUMPKIN PATH AT LAMAR PARK – Bring

 your children or grandchildren out in costume for a fun and

 safe trick or treating activity. Our Discovery Kidz will host a

 booth to hand out candy and church info to the kids.

 CANDY DONATIONS NEED to be in by October 10! 

 Please drop off candy on the youth check in desk. Thank you

 to everyone who has already donated! It is much appreciated.

 ALSO VOLUNTEERS NEEDED - Children or adults

 willing to dress up as ROCK STARS and hand out candy.

NEXT SUNDAY Pastor Rick will share the message, “The Hour of

 Darkness” from The Story. Please read Chapter 26 in preparation.

 the service at Grace.

 

Monday, October 22, 7:00 pm – PRAISE TEAM PRACTICE

 

Saturday, October 27, 8:30 am – 4:00 pm - HABITAT FOR

 HUMANITY WORK DAY at the construction site which is still to

 be determined. We are hoping for 10-15 of YOU to sign up to help

 work on one of the Habitat projects. They have several projects going

 but will not know exactly what stage of construction the homes will

 be in since progress is dependent on all the volunteers before our

 date. The minimum age for volunteers is 16 years, although it is 18

 for the 'deconstruction' phase. Please sign up or contact Shari if you

 are interested. If you cannot give a whole day, please consider 1/2 day.

 

Sunday, October 28 – PASTOR SCOTT CRANE WILL BE

 INSTALLED as Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of

 Dimondale, MI in a special service at 2:00 pm. If you would like to

 join with others to go there and support Pastor Scott, a van will

 depart following the morning service. We will stop for lunch on the

 way down. Sign up on the narthex table or see Tymie Boeve. We will

 not have an evening service at Grace that evening.

 

Saturday, November 3 - GRACE VAN TRIP to Birch Run,

 Frankenmuth, and Bronners! We will be leaving church at 7:30 am

 and will stop on the way for a quick breakfast. We can all meet

 together for dinner if you would like. Cost is $10.00 per person plus

 your cost for meals. Sign up in the narthex!

 

 

MISCELLANEOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

DISCOVERY KIDZ needs your help! PLEASE, PLEASE sign

 up in the narthex if you would be willing! It is only a one week

 commitment! See Heather if you have any questions.
 

OUR SPECIAL OFFERING for the month of October is designated

 for Cran Hill Ranch and Camp Geneva. This offering will be received

 on October 28.

 

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED to prepare the parsonage for Pastor George

 and Juel to move in. This will include cleaning, painting, and repairs.

 Sign up on the sheet in the narthex and we will contact you. 

 

'BELONGING' NEW MEMBER CLASS - The beginning date for

 the 'Belonging' New Member Class is being postponed until October

 28.This will allow more time for people to pray about being part of

 this class. Whether the class is held on Sunday following the worship

 service or Wednesday evening after dinner will be decided by those

 attending. The class usually has 6 sessions. Questions? Call Shari at

 538-3100.

 

POVERTY SIMULATION WORKSHOP – The Poverty Simulation

 is a 2 ½ hour workshop designed to provide insight into what living

 in poverty is like. You will experience what low income families go

 through and some of the barriers they face. It will also encourage

 involvement in poverty reduction activities. It will be held Tuesday,

 Oct. 23 6:30 – 9:30 pm at Ivanrest CRC, 3777 Ivanrest Ave,

 Grandville. See Shari if you are interested in attending. 

 

EMERGENCY REQUEST – Family Network of Wyoming is in

 urgent need of Toilet Paper for their clients. If you are able to help,

 please bring your donations to the kitchen downstairs.

Prayers & Praise Line

Congregational Prayers and Praise

 

 

  • We pray today for our Christian brothers and sisters around the world celebrating the Lord’s Supper.
  • We thank God for the freedom we enjoy in this country to worship our Great God.
  • Remember Nate Zondervan in your prayers as he undergoes surgery this week.
  • Continue to keep Willie Hiemstra in your prayers as she finishes up the treatments for infection and continues therapy.
  • We pray for the upcoming ACCESS Food Drive on Saturday.
  • We thank God for this community we live in. For the many kind and compassionate persons who give of their time and talents to help those in need.
  • We pray this week for Heather and those who will be participating in the Pumpkin Path at Lamar Park on Saturday. We pray that the candy, and more importantly our church information, be received by many. 
  • We think of those today who are mourning the loss of a loved one. In particular we pray today for Neal & Judy Klein and their family.
  • Please keep Daniel and the Club 3:16 volunteers in your prayers as they have begin sessions with very large groups of youth.
  • We remember in prayer the following family or friends of our members that are ill or receiving treatments: Lola De Young, Curt Boes, Dan De Vries, Brian Benthin
  • Keep these friends and family serving in the military in your prayers: Amie Pierce, Mitch Dekker, Brent Wenzel, Adam Simons, Justin Roelofs. 
  • Pray for our Shut-in’s: Mrs Tena DeVink, Mrs Miriam Schrotenboer, Mrs Anne Hoezee, Mrs Ruth Ver Merris.

 

As other prayers are shared, you are invited to write
