We joyously welcome you to Grace Reformed Church! 

Whatever led you to our church today, we believe God rejoices in having you in

this place.  Please take a moment and sign your name and

address on the Fellowship Register as it is passed today.

 

TODAY AT GRACE

 

9:50 – 11:15 AM DISCOVERY KIDZ for kids ages 3 years – 5th

 grade meets downstairs by the youth desk. 

 

NOMINATIONS will be received for the 2018 Consistory at the close of

 the morning service today.  Deacons will be at the exits to collect your

 slips as you leave the sanctuary.  If needed, additional nomination

 slips are available on the sound board. 

 

ELDERS INVITATION If you have questions, concerns, joys, or

 prayer needs that you would like to share, please see the Pastor or

 an Elder today.  Elders will be greeting at the doors as you leave the

 sanctuary this morning and they are also listed on the back of your

 bulletin.  You may also make a notation on the Fellowship Register.

 

THE ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL GUIDE CLASS will meet in the

 Consistory Room after the morning service. They cover various

 matters using the Sunday School Guide.  You are welcome to join in!

 

PRAYER GROUP will meet following the service in the sanctuary

 to pray for Pastor George & Connections, and the needs and vision at

 Grace Reformed Church.

 

5:00 PM we will gather at Calvary Christian Reformed Church (3500

 Byron Center Ave., Wyoming) to hear about the “Feast of Booths”.  

 

7:00 PM The BUILDING TASK FORCE will meet in the sanctuary.

 

PRAYERS AND PRAISE

 

HEALTH CONCERNS:  Pastor George Grevenstuk was hospitalized

 earlier this week with stomach concerns.  Please keep him in your

 prayers.  For all other praise reports and prayer concerns, see

 the prayers and praise line in your bulletin today.

 

IN APPRECIATION – Thank you for the cards, words of sympathy,

 and visit from Harvey & Sheryl Steensma after the passing of my

 dear brother, Clare.  It is all very much appreciated. ~Joan Emaus

 

THE SEARCH PROCESS has begun.  We would like to thank the

 Transition Team for their help in building the foundation.  We would

 like to ask all of our Grace family to keep this process in your prayers

 each day.  We pray for the Holy Spirit to guide us as a church.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT LIVE!

 6:00 PM FELLOWSHIP DINNER – Lasagna and salad are on

 the menu! Come out and enjoy dinner and a time of

 fellowship prior to classes.

 6:30 PM SENIOR CHOIR PRACTICE.

 6:45 – 8:00 PM S.O.N.G. (Soldiers of the Next  

 Generation) will meet.  This is for ages 3 years – 8th Grade.

 

 THE ADULT CLASS will be starting on October 18.  Wes Dekker

 will lead this class!  Watch for details coming up!

 

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 14, 2017

 6:00 PM WOMEN’S MINISTRY KICK OFF DINNER! 

 We will enjoy dinner together in the Fellowship Hall and get

 to know one another.  TODAY is the last day to RSVP to

 Heather!

 

NEXT WEEK, OCTOBER 15, 2017

 

NEXT SUNDAY Pastor Rick will share the message “Though Angels

 Seem to be a Step Ahead” from Job 38:4-7.  For the 6:00 pm evening

 service we will be meeting back at Faith Reformed Church.  Pastor

 Rick will continue the series “The New Covenant: A New Testament

 Survey”.  The message:  “Will Jesus Come Back this Week or Next?”

 I & II Thessalonians.

Tuesday, October 17, 1:00 pm THE ELIZABETH CIRCLE will meet in

 the Consistory room to discuss Lesson 7, Amos 1 & 2, in our study

 book.  All women welcome.

 

Wednesday, October 25, 6:00 – 7:30 pm TRUNK OR TREAT! 

 Start thinking about how you would like to decorate your “space”. 

 Indoor and outdoor spaces will once again be available.  Dinner will

 be served.  Please sign up in the narthex if you would be willing to

 decorate a trunk (or table) or be a kitchen helper.  ALSO CANDY

 DONATIONS are needed!  Please drop off at the youth desk

 downstairs.

 

MISCELLANEOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

OUR GEMS are having a fundraiser!  They are selling awesome kitchen

 pans with lids that can be personalized!  Also miscellaneous items

 such as cutting boards, mugs, and other gift items.  These would

 make great Christmas presents!  A brochure is on the narthex table as

 well as order forms.  You can also look online at

 thatsmypan.biz/staceylocey.  Once on the website select our church

 to order from.  Checks can be made payable to Grace Reformed

 Church.  This sale will run through November 1.

 

WEDNESDAY CROSSING DRIVER needed beginning in January.

THE SPECIAL OFFERING for the month of October is designated

 for ACCESS.  This offering will be received on October 29.

Prayers & Praise Line

October 8, 2017

 

Make your ways known upon the earth, Lord God, your saving power among all people.  Renew your Church in holiness and help us to serve you with joy.  Guide the leaders of all nations that justice may prevail throughout the world.  Let not the needy be forgotten, nor the hope of the poor be taken away.  Make us instruments of your peace and let your glory be over all the earth.

 

Congregational Prayers and Praise

  • We pray for God’s leading as we submit names of persons we are nominating to serve on the Consistory.
  • We pray for all the victims of the recent tragedies.  May they feel God’s presence and love now and in the days ahead.
  • Please pray for the Holy Spirit’s presence and guidance as Pastor Rick and Donna and all of us go through these days of transition. 
  • We pray for Heather as she prepares for Discovery Kidz sessions, fall events, and her final exams as she works toward becoming a Commissioned Pastor.
  • Please pray for Pastor George and Connections and for the youth and adults that attend each week.  We pray for them as they continue to grow and expand. We remember them in prayer as they have begun meeting for a Sunday worship service in the Chapel at Grace.
  • We thank the Transition Team for their work.  Please pray for the Search Team as they take over.  May the Holy Spirit guide their paths. 
  • We pray that Pastor George has a complete and speedy return to health and strength.
  • Keep Rev. Al Schreuder in your prayers as he was recently diagnosed with ALS. 
  • Continuing prayers for Lucille Sytsema, Bill Ver Hulst, Jerry Hendrickson.
