TODAY AT GRACE

9:50 – 11:15 AM DISCOVERY KIDZ will meet.  All kids ages

 3 years – 5th grade meet downstairs by the youth desk.  Our theme for

 October is “Use words to build people up, not tear people down”.

 (James 3:3-12)

 

A PRAYER GROUP will meet following the service in the sanctuary

 to pray for Pastor George & Connections, and the needs and vision at

 Grace Reformed Church.

 

THE ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS will meet in the

 Consistory Room following the morning worship service.  They cover

 various subject matter using the Sunday School Guide.  You are

 welcome to join them!

 

6:00 PM JOINT EVENING WORSHIP – For the month of

 October we will be meeting at FAITH Reformed Church

 (618 32nd St SW, Wyoming) for our evening service.  Rev. Harvey

 Hertz will share the message.

 

PRAYERS AND PRAISE

 

HEALTH CONCERNS – Mary Huizinga was transferred to

 Brookcrest after being hospitalized last week.  Please keep her in your

 prayers.  See the Prayers & Praise Line for all prayer requests and

 praise reports.

 

IN APPRECIATION – Thank you Grace family for the kindness you

 have shown.  The prayers, cards, and well wishes have meant so

 Come out and enjoy dinner and a time of fellowship prior to

 classes.

 6:30 PM SENIOR CHOIR PRACTICE.

 S.O.N.G. (Soldiers of the Next Generation) for all kids Pre-K 

 -8th Grade. Meet with Mrs. Heather in the Discovery Kidz area.

 FORGIVING THOSE WHO HURT US – Meets in the

 Consistory room.  This upcoming week we will be studying

 Chapter #3 in Lewis Smedes’ book “The Art of Forgiving –

 When You Need to Forgive and Don’t Know How.”  If you

 need a book or study guide, see Lorinda Vander Werp.

 

NEXT SUNDAY, OCTOBER 16, 2016

 

NEXT SUNDAY Rev. Harvey Hertz will lead our service and share the

 message.  Pastor Rick will be on study leave October 10 – 16. 

 

DATES TO REMEMBER

 

Monday, October 17, 6:30 pm ELDERS MEET.

 7:30 pm CONSISTORY meets.

 

Wednesday, October 26, 6:00 pm – TRUNK OR TREAT.  Looking for

 volunteers to decorate your trunks or a table inside (you don’t have to

 decorate for “Halloween”, it can be any type of decoration or bible

 story, etc) and hand out candy to the neighborhood children.  Note

 that this year we will have tables set up inside as well as

 your trunks outside.  Indicate which spot you would prefer when

 signing up on the narthex table. We will also need servers for the hot

 dog dinner that will be provided!  See Heather if you have any

 questions. 

 ALSO WE ARE IN NEED OF CANDY. Candy can be dropped off

 in the bin at the youth desk downstairs.

 

MISCELLANEOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

DESSERTS are needed for our Wednesday night dinners.  A sign-up

 sheet is in the narthex if you would be willing to take a turn.  Please

 remember that Grace is a peanut free facility.  Thank you so much!

 

DISCOVERY KIDZ – Volunteer sign-up sheets are on the narthex

 table through December!  Find a place where you can help! 

 

Our SPECIAL OFFERING for the month of October is designated for

 ACCESS.  This offering will be received on October 30.

 

FAMILY NETWORK OF WYOMING is in need of the following:

 Toilet Paper, Toothpaste , Toothbrushes, Hand Soap, Lotion,

 Shampoo, Hair Care (Hair Spray/Conditioner), Deodorant (also

 Men’s Shampoo and Deodorant).  We will continue to collect for

 the month of October.

Prayers & Praise Line

Congregational Prayers and Praise

  • We pray for all those affected by the devastation of hurricane Matthew.  We pray for protection and comfort during this difficult and scary time.
  • We pray as we work through the process of electing Elders and Deacons to serve on the Consistory. 
  • Please pray for our staff here at Grace.  Pray for Pastor Rick, Heather Dood, Paul Kerkstra, Lorinda Vander Werp and Sue Stuk.
  • We pray for Pastor George and Connections and for the youth and adults that attend each week.
  • Lift up Mary Huizinga in your prayers as she is at Brookcrest for a time of healing.
  • Remember in your prayers the sister of Trena Battjes.  Her sister is really struggling since the loss of her daughter in February at the age of 39.
  • Please keep Shirley De Bruin in your prayers as she continues chemo treatments.  We thank God for his faithfulness to Shirley as she goes through treatments. 
  • Please continue to remember our family members who are in need of healing, comfort, and strength.  We pray for Jackie, daughter in law of Roger and Phyllis Vander Sloot;  Mike Stuk, brother of Dan; Betty Parps, mother of Tymie Boeve; Deb Stouten, sister of Pastor Rick; Brent Kerkstra, son of Paul; Janet, sister of Wes Dekker.
