TODAY AT GRACE

 

FALL KICK OFF SUNDAY!

 

We are so blessed that you are here today as we kick off our fall programs! 

Take note of the Education Guide in your bulletin today that outlines our fall education programs. 

Following the service this morning, a BBQ Lunch with delicious salads and dessert will be served. 

Coffee will be available downstairs instead of on the patio today!

 

Everyone is invited to stay!

 

The Tumble Bus will be here for the kids to enjoy

and there will be games for both adults and children!

 

 

9:50 – 11:15 AM DISCOVERY KIDZ MEET. All children ages 3

 years – 5th Grade meet downstairs for your very own worship service.

 

ELDERS INVITATION – If you have questions, concerns, joys, or

 prayer needs that you would like to share, an Elder will be available

 in the front of the sanctuary following the service this morning.

 

THIS EVENING we will meet at the Crossing at 6:00 pm to view

 the film “State of the Nation 2”. This film is hosted by Ken

 Ham, the Director of the Creation Museum. Come out and hear this

 challenge to put God back in the picture in America.

 6:00 PM FELLOWSHIP DINNER – Come out and join us for a

 time of fellowship prior to Wednesday classes. On the menu..

 lasagna, salad, bread sticks, dessert.

 

 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM SENIOR CHOIR will meet to practice! 

 New voices are welcome!

 7:00 – 8:00 PM

 S.O.N.G. – (Soldiers of the Next Generation)

 This class is for Preschool Children – 5th Grade. Meet with

 Mrs. Heather in the Fellowship Hall.

 

 ADULTS – Meet in the Chapel. This year class will begin

 reading the book Radical: Taking Back Your Faith from the

 American Dream by David Platt. This book is currently being

 discussed in Christian circles and was a New York Times

 bestseller. The author challenges Christians with an open

 heart how we have manipulated the gospel to fit our cultural

 preferences. Pastor Scott Crane will lead this class. There is

 a sign up sheet in the narthex for those planning on attending.

 

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 15, 2011

 6:00 PM CROSSING COMMUNITY HOT DOG ROAST

 Eat at 6 PM, but you may come as early as 5 PM for games

 and fellowship with our neighbors.

 

NEXT WEEK, SEPTEMBER 18, 2011

 

NEXT SUNDAY Pastor Rick will share the message “When God

 Shows Up…The Church is Built” from Acts 2:42-47. 

 The Adult Sunday School class will begin in the Consistory Room

 following the morning service.

 

SPECIAL DATES TO REMEMBER

 

Saturday, September 24, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm – GRACE GARAGE &

 BAKE SALE with profits for the Chiapas Mexico trip! Many items

 are left from our last Flea Market and we hear that many of you have

 more things to clean out of your homes and sell! So, just bring them

 to church by September 18 if possible, or contact us if you need

 them picked up from your home! Since we are also including a

 BAKE SALE ...if you are able to bake something and donate it, sign

 up in the narthex. Also there is a sign up sheet for workers to mark

 prices and work at the sale itself. 

 

Sunday, September 25 - NOMINATIONS will be received for the 2012

 Consistory. See the special insert in your bulletin today.

 

Sunday, October 2, 10:00 am WORLD WIDE COMMUNION

 SUNDAY. We will once again join with other Wyoming area

 churches for a service at Wyoming Park High School Auditorium. 

 

Saturday, October 8 - COUNTY WIDE FOOD DRIVE! See the Galaxy

 for ways you can help.

 

MISCELLANEOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

NEW MEMBERS CLASS – A new members class will start either 

 Sept. 25 or 28. This six week class can be held on Sundays after the

 morning worship service or on Wednesday evenings, whichever

 works best with those interested. This class is for those who would

 like to learn more about having a relationship with Jesus Christ and

 His church. This class will enable you to make Profession of Faith,

 but will not obligate you. Sign up on the sheet on the narthex table.

 If you have any questions, call Shari Dood at 538-3100. 

 

CANDY DONATIONS NEEDED! Once again the Grace Discovery

 Kidz will be participating in the Wyoming Pumpkin Path. Well over

 2000 pieces of candy and information was given out last year. Please

 drop off candy on the youth check in desk. Thank you!

 

THE SPECIAL OFFERING for the month of September is designated 

 for ACCESS (All County Churches Emergency Support System). For

 29 years ACCESS has been committed to helping those in need in 

 our community. ACCESS maintains a network of 100 Food Pantries

 and also work with congregations to provide Thanksgiving and

 Christmas Baskets, and coordinate with the larger community in

 responding to local disasters. This offering with be received on

 Sunday morning, September 25. 

 

NEEDED ASAP! DISCOVERY KIDZ VOLUNTEER!

 One Shepherd is still needed! Please see Heather TODAY if you can

 help! Rotation started today! 

 

ALSO NEEDED are volunteers for the nursery on the 2nd and

 4th Wednesday evenings! See Heather if you can help.

 

VICTORS (Cadets) are looking for one or two guys to help out this

 year. Your role will be to assist the kids in their projects that they do

 throughout the year as well as to chaperone outings. Victors meet on

 the 1st & 3rd Wednesday from 6:45 – 8:00 pm through December. 

 Beginning in January - March they will meet each week. If you are

 interested, please see Brian Gort, Eric Postema, or Heather Dood.

 

 Local Opportunity for helping on a Habitat for

 Humanity BUILD! Churches and Habitat are partnering in the

 ‘Faith United Build’ on the southeast side of GR. We are looking at

 getting a Work Group together from Grace to work on these homes

 on Saturday, October 22. Sign up in the narthex if interested

of our new Congregation Plan and our grant request.

  • We thank you, O Lord, that you alone are our refuge and our strength, our ever present help in times of trouble.
  • We pray today for comfort for those who suffered loss on September 11, 2001.
  • Thank God today for the many volunteers who have committed to another season of service.
  • Please be in prayer for Pastor George and his volunteers as they visit the schools this week.
  • We pray for Heather Dood, our children & youth coordinator, as the fall programming begins. We are so thankful for her love and energy.
  • Please pray for Jae & Julia as their refugee assistance income has ended and they now are on their own. 
  • We pray for our mission trip to Chiapas….may all the funding come in and volunteers be willing to give of their time, talent, and money.
  • We remember in prayer the following family or friends of our members that are ill or receiving treatments: Dan De Vries, brother of Lisa Braendle; Amee Bekkering, daughter of Dick & Ruth Locke; Larry VerMerris, son of Ruth VerMerris.
  • Keep these friends and family serving in the military in your prayers: Amie Pierce, Doug Desmarais, Mitch Dekker, Frank Senko, Dave Vander Berg.

Please transfer our (Marcus and Jane Wierenga) membership to the Ann Arbor First Church of theNazarene 2780 Packard Rd., Ann Arbor, MI  48105 in care of Pastor Ann Salyer.You will always be in our thoughts and prayers but feel very comfortable in our new church. Willkeep you posted.Thank you very much.
