TODAY AT GRACE

 

9:50 – 11:15 AM DISCOVERY KIDZ will meet.  All kids ages

 3 years – 5th grade meet downstairs by the youth desk.  Our theme for

 September is “God Wants Us to Love Everyone”. (Luke 14:1-17)

 

TODAY we will begin a new series of messages “The Contagious

 Community”.  See the insert in your bulletin with all the details.

 

OUR MUSIC MINISTRY today is presented by Bob Moreno of our

 congregation.  Thank you for sharing with us this Lord’s day!

 

A PRAYER GROUP will meet following the service in the sanctuary

 to pray for Pastor George & Connections, and the needs and vision at

 Grace Reformed Church.

 

THE ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS will meet in the

 Consistory Room following the morning worship service.  They cover

 various subject matter using the Sunday School Guide.  You are

 welcome to join them!

 

VICTORS MEETING – All men involved in the Victors program are

 asked to meet in the Chapel following our morning service.

 

CROSSING VOLUNTEERS will also meet to talk about the 2016-

 2017 session.  If you would like more information about becoming a

 volunteer, please attend this meeting in the Chapel.

 

6:00 PM JOINT EVENING WORSHIP – For the month of

 September we will be meeting at BEVERLY Reformed Church

 (2141 Porter St SW, Wyoming) for our evening service.  Rev. Harvey

 Hertz will share the message.

 

PRAYERS AND PRAISE

 

HEALTH CONCERNS – Continue to be in prayer for Joan Formsma,

 John Sawyer, and Sandy Sorenson who underwent knee surgery this

 past week.  Also, remember Paul Kerkstra as he recovers from hand

 surgery.  See the Prayers & Praise Line for all other prayer requests

 and praise reports.

 

CONGRATULATIONS are extended to Chad & Natalie Ayers (nee

 Gerbers) upon the birth of a daughter, Morgan Elizabeth, on

 Wednesday, September 7.  We thank God for this precious gift of life!

OUR SPECIAL OFFERING for the month of September is

 designated for CONNECTIONS.  This offering will be received on

 September 25.

 

FORGIVING THOSE WHO HURT US - Lorinda VanderWerp will

 be leading this Bible study following the Wednesday Night Live

 Dinners (from 7-8 pm) beginning September 21.  In this study we will

 primarily be utilizing Lewis Smedes’ book “The Art of Forgiving –

 When You Need to Forgive and Don’t Know How.” Please let

 Lorinda or Sue Stuk know if you are interested in attending the class,

 so that we can order enough books.  Thank you.

 

FAMILY NETWORK OF WYOMING is in need of the following:

 Toilet Paper, Toothpaste , Toothbrushes, Hand Soap, Lotion,

 Shampoo, Hair Care (Hair Spray/Conditioner), Deodorant (also

 Men’s Shampoo and Deodorant).  A box will be put by the entry

 doors for your donations.  Thank you so much!

 

GRACE WOMEN – The women of First Reformed Church of

 Grandville invite you to a Bible Study on the Festivals of the Bible. 

 They will meet for orientation/registration, September 14 anytime

 between 9:30 – 11:00 in their church gathering room.  Study will

 begin September 21 at 9:20 – 11:00 for 10 weeks.  Each Wednesday

 they will begin the morning with coffee and fellowship followed by

 the study.  Questions – call Kathy Thompson at 534-5923.

Prayers & Praise Line

Congregational Prayers and Praise

 

  • A Prayer of Remembrance as we look back on the tragedy of 9/11.

“May all of us remember with love and compassion this day.

May we grieve with those who still mourn,

And share memories with those who cannot forget.

May we draw strength from those who bravely responded,

And gave their lives to save others.

May we stand with strangers who became neighbors that day,

And remember their generosity and hospitality.

Above all God may we remember your faithfulness

And learn to trust in your unfailing love.”

  • We thank and praise God for the birth of Morgan Elizabeth Ayers. 
  • We pray for Pastor Rick and Heather as they prepare for a new season of activities. We pray for volunteers to come forward to help with our programs and dinners. 
  • We pray for Pastor George and Connections and for the youth and adults that attend each week.
  • Remember Joan Formsma, John Sawyer, Sandy Sorenson, and Paul Kerkstra in your prayers following surgery.  We pray for quick and complete healing.
  • Please keep Shirley De Bruin in your prayers as she continues chemo treatments.  We thank God that there has been some success, which is an answer to prayers.  We thank God for his faithfulness to Shirley as she goes through treatments. 
  • We continue to keep Tymie Boeve in our prayers.  We pray for continued healing and strength. Also, please remember Tymie’s mom in your prayers as she fights cancer. 
  • Remember Jackie, daughter in law of Roger & Phyllis Vander Sloot, in your prayers.  She was recently diagnosed with stage 3 cancer.  She will begin with radiation treatments for 5 weeks followed by chemo.
  • Also, please pray for Mike Stuk, brother of Dan, who has been fighting cancer.  He has now entered into hospice care.
  • Keep Robbie Stouten in your prayers.  He was hospitalized once again this week with colon disease. 
  • Please pray for Ethan, grandson of Ed & Kathy De Ruiter.  He now has in infection and will be hospitalized for a couple weeks. 
  • Please keep Sandy Sorenson’s niece, Rachel, in your prayers.  She is doing better, off the vent and eating and drinking.  She will be transferred to another facility soon. 
  • We ask for prayers for Wes Dekker’s sister, Janet as she has had a setback due to recent surgery. 
  • Please keep Brent Kerkstra, son of Paul, in your prayers.  Prayers for a complete return to health and wellness.
  • Lift up Josh Sawyer in prayer as he is home and stationed in Battle Creek. 
  • Pray for our Shut-in’s: Mrs. Tena DeVink, Mrs. Betty Figueroa, Mrs. Wilma Kamphuis, Mrs. Ruth Ver Merris, Mr. Jim Friar.
