Saturday, October 13, 2012 - COMING… COUNTY FOOD DRIVE

with ACCESS! CHANGES are taking place this year and in the

future as to how the Food Drive operates. This year there will be a

week long collection of food at the local Family Fare Stores. The

Saturday neighborhood food collection, which Grace will host as they

have done in the past, will be held, but on a limited basis...there will

be less streets covered and limited hours. We will still need some

volunteers to drive the routes and sort and box the food, as has been

done in the past. Also, a few persons will be needed to serve lunch

between 11AM and 1 PM. Please sign up on the sheet in the narthex,

or call Shari with any questions.

NOTE: Between October 3 – 8 volunteers will be needed to pre-bag

and pre-flyer a few streets in our neighborhood. Details to follow.

Saturday, October 13 – PUMPKIN PATH – We will be participating in

the Pumpkin Path activity once again this year at Lamar Park.

Volunteers are needed to help pass out candy. Please let Heather

know if you can help. ALSO CANDY is needed! We see about

3000 kids at this event!! You can bring your candy donations to the

 youth desk downstairs! Thank You!

Saturday, October 27, 8:30 am – 4:00 pm - HABITAT FOR

HUMANITY WORK DAY at the construction site which is still to

be determined. We are hoping for 10-15 of YOU to sign up to help

work on one of the Habitat projects. They have several projects going

but will not know exactly what stage of construction the homes will

be in since progress is dependent on all the volunteers before our

date. The minimum age for volunteers is 16 years, although it is 18

for the 'deconstruction' phase. Please sign up or contact Shari if you

are interested. If you cannot give a whole day, please consider 1/2 day.

Prayers & Praise Line

September 16, 2012

Church Plant Prayer Focus

 Prayer of Praise for:

Another new family! Two new mentors!

As we continue to grow we invite other “church folk” to come alongside Connections

people to listen and encourage. We are looking for people who want to use their gifts

and talents in Connections on Thursday evening. It won’t interfere with any of your

current church responsibilities and at the same time gives you an opportunity to

exercise your gifts such as caring and listening and hospitality for the benefit of

everyone. All for the purpose of responding to the call of the Great Commission to

help a new church for non-churched folks grow. If you feel that God may be leading

you also in this direction let’s talk.

We also have an opportunity for adults to simply be available to help with our new

children’s program: “2 BY 2”. It’s a simple lesson format that teaches children about

God’s faithfulness based on the story of Noah’s Ark. No studying or preparation

ahead of time just be there to support the teachers and help the kids for as little a

commitment as once a month. There is a sign up sheet on the Narthex table if you

 are able to help.

 Please continue to pray for:

- Neighbors and members of other churches being called to Connections.

- New families and individuals joining in God’s plan for Connections.

- Connections families actively inviting others.

Congregational Prayers and Praise

  • We thank God today for a new season of opportunities at Grace.
  • We pray for Pastor Rick as he prepares the messages and leads our congregation.
  • We pray for Heather Dood and Daniel Jung as they guide the youth. We are thankful for their dedication and love for our kids.
  • We thank and praise God for the many volunteers who are so willing to lead our children’s and adult programs.
  • We pray today for those who have recently lost loved ones. In particular we pray for the Palma Family, De Jong Family and the Dood Family.
  • Please keep Rose Borkowski, mother of Anna, in your prayers as she fell and is injured quite badly.
  • We pray today for Lucille Sytsema as she undergoes rehab at Brookcrest.
  • Remember Willie Hiemstra in your prayers as she continues rehab.
  • We remember in prayer the following family or friends of our members that are ill or receiving treatments: Lola De Young, Curt Boes, Dan De Vries.
  • Keep these friends and family serving in the military in your prayers: Amie Pierce, Mitch Dekker, Brent Wenzel, Adam Simons, Justin Roelofs.
  • Pray for our Shut-in’s: Mrs Tena DeVink, Mrs Miriam Schrotenboer, Mrs Anne Hoezee, Mrs Ruth Ver Merris.
