THE ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL GUIDE CLASS will begin in the

 Consistory Room following the morning service today.

IN APPRECIATION – Thank you to all those who helped recruit and

 inform kids about Club 3:16 in the school this past week! We had 3

 volunteers at Jackson Park, 6 at Gladiola, and 4 at Newhall. Your

 WEDNESDAY NIGHT LIVE

 6:00 PM FELLOWSHIP DINNER – Come out and join us for a

 time of fellowship prior to Wednesday classes. On the menu...

 Homemade casserole buffet along with salads and dessert!

 6:30 PM SENIOR CHOIR members will give a concert at the

 Allen Springs Lodge on Cottonwood Dr in Jenison. Choir

 members please meet there at 6:30. 

 6:45 PM – 8:00 PM

 GEMS (Girls Everywhere Meeting the Savior) for girls in

 grades K – 8th. Meet at the Crossing

 VICTORS – For boys in grades K – 8th. Meet in the

 Fellowship Hall!

 BE BIG – For Preschool children. Meet in the Nursery!

 7:00 – 8:00 PM

 ADULTS – Meet in the Chapel. Pastor Scott Crane will lead

 this class. We will be reading Radical: Taking Back Your

 Faith from the American Dream by David Platt. The author

 challenges Christians with an open heart how we have

 manipulated the gospel to fit our cultural preferences. 

 

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 22, 2011

 6:00 PM CROSSING COMMUNITY HOT DOG ROAST

 Eat at 6 PM, but you may come as early as 5 PM for games

 and fellowship with our neighbors.

 

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 2011

 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM – GRACE GARAGE & BAKE SALE with

 profits for the Chiapas Mexico trip! Please be sure you bring

 your items for the sale to church by September 18. Contact

 us if you need them picked up from your home! If you are

 able to bake something and donate it, sign up in the narthex. 

 Also there is a sign up sheet for workers to mark prices and

 work at the sale itself. 

 

NEXT WEEK, SEPTEMBER 25, 2011

 

NEXT SUNDAY Pastor Rick will share the message “When God

 Shows Up…WALLS ARE TORN DOWN” from Acts 10. 

 

NOMINATIONS will be received for the 2012 Consistory. See the

 special insert in your bulletin today.

 

THE SPECIAL OFFERING for the month of September is designated 

 for ACCESS (All County Churches Emergency Support System). For

 29 years ACCESS has been committed to helping those in need in 

 our community. ACCESS maintains a network of 100 Food Pantries

 and also work with congregations to provide Thanksgiving and

 Christmas Baskets, and coordinate with the larger community in

 responding to local disasters. This offering with be received next

 Sunday morning.

 SUNDAY. We will once again join with other Wyoming area

 churches for a service at Wyoming Park High School Auditorium. 

 There will not be a service at Grace that morning and no Discovery

 Kidz.

 

Sunday, October 2, 6:30 pm Y-LIFE for youth in Middle and High

 School will be held. We will have dinner first! Meet at the Crossing.

 

Saturday, October 8 - COUNTY WIDE FOOD DRIVE! Sign up in the

 narthex if you can help by being a driver, sort and box the donations,

 or prepare and serve lunch! Also donations of home baked cookies

 are needed for the volunteers that work that day. The drive begins

 with a Praise Rally at 9:00 am and goes until 2:00 pm. Choose your

 own hours to help! 

 

GRACE FOOD AND PERSONAL CARE DRIVE for the County

 Wide Food Drive. We can help by collecting food and personal care

 items in advance! Boxes will be provided by the doors for your

 donations.

 

MISCELLANEOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

NEW MEMBERS CLASS – A new members class will start either 

 Sept. 25 or 28. This six week class can be held on Sundays after the

 morning worship service or on Wednesday evenings, whichever

 works best with those interested. This class is for those who would

 like to learn more about having a relationship with Jesus Christ and

 His church. This class will enable you to make Profession of Faith,

 but will not obligate you. Sign up on the sheet on the narthex table.

 If you have any questions, call Shari Dood at 538-3100. 

 

CANDY DONATIONS NEEDED! Once again the Grace Discovery

 Kidz will be participating in the Wyoming Pumpkin Path. Well

 over 2000 pieces of candy and information was given out last year. 

 Please drop off candy on the youth check in desk. 

 ALSO VOLUNTEERS NEEDED - Children or adults willing to

 dress up as Bible Characters and hand out candy from 5 – 7 PM. 

 

VICTORS (Cadets) are looking for one or two guys to help out this

 year. Your role will be to assist the kids in their projects that they do

 throughout the year as well as to chaperone outings. Victors meet on

 the 1st & 3rd Wednesday from 6:45 – 8:00 pm through December. 

 Beginning in January - March they will meet each week. If you are

 interested, please see Brian Gort, Eric Postema, or Heather Dood.

 

DISCOVERY KIDZ next rotation will run from October 16 –

 November 13. We need leaders for games and theater and 2

 shepherds. Sign up in the narthex if you can help!

 

 LOCAL Habitat for Humanity BUILD! Churches and

 Habitat are partnering in the ‘Faith United Build’ on the southeast

 side of GR. We are putting together a work group from Grace to

 work on these homes on Saturday, October 22. Some jobs include

 demolition, framing carpentry, trim carpentry, and landscaping

 opportunities. Sign up in the narthex if interested

 

THE MICAH CENTER, a group of Christians seeking to promote

 Biblical justice, will meet at Hope Reformed Church (Burton and

 Kalamazoo) on Tuesday, September 20. A light meal will be served

 at 5:30 pm. Program begins at 6:00 pm. Admission is free.

Congregational Prayers and Praise

  • Please be in prayer for Pastor George and his volunteers as Club 3:16 begins this week.
  • We pray for Heather Dood, our children & youth coordinator. We are so thankful for her love and energy.
  • Please pray for Jae & Julia as their refugee assistance income has ended and they now are on their own. 
  • We pray for our mission trip to Chiapas….may all the funding come in and volunteers be willing to give of their time, talent, and money.
  • We give thanks today that Larry Ver Merris, son of Ruth, is now in remission and doing well.
  • Please pray for Norm VerMerris, brother of Shirley De Bruin and brother in law of Ruth VerMerris, who just underwent surgery for pancreatic cancer. Also his wife, Dode, just had a massive stroke last Friday.
  • We remember in prayer the following family or friends of our members that are ill or receiving treatments: Dan De Vries, brother of Lisa Braendle; Amee Bekkering, daughter of Dick & Ruth Locke.
  • Keep these friends and family serving in the military in your prayers: Amie Pierce, Doug Desmarais, Mitch Dekker, Frank Senko, Dave Vander Berg.
  • Pray for our Shut-in’s: Mrs Tena DeVink, Mrs Miriam Schrotenboer, Mrs Anne Hoezee, Mrs Janet Yonkers.
