 TODAY AT GRACE

9:50 am – 11:15 am DISCOVERY KIDZ MEET. All children ages
3 years – 5th Grade meet downstairs for your very own service.

START POSTCARDS are inserted into your bulletin today. You may
bring these cards forward and place them on the growth tree during
the playing of the song “There are No Orphans”. In future weeks you
may return to the card and check the completed box. Each week a
different challenge will be given for you to consider.

OUR SPECIAL OFFERING for the month of September is
designated for Matt & Lindsey (Foster) De Young. Lindsey grew up
at Grace and has decided, along with her husband, to go to Tanzania
for 2 years. Lindsey will be serving the orphans and at-risk children
of the area and Matt will be helping to develop a Christian business
training that will teach local business people how to run a more
successful and profitable business. You can follow their blog at
http://followingthecall.org. This offering will be received this
morning.

NOMINATION BALLOTS will be received at the close of the morning
service for the office of Elder and Deacon.

ELDERS INVITATION – If you have questions, concerns, joys, or
prayer needs that you would like to share, an Elder will be available
in the front of the sanctuary following the service this morning.

THE SUNDAY SCHOOL GUIDE CLASS will meet following the
morning service. Meet in the Consistory Room

ALSO, IN THE CHAPEL, a 30 minute DVD that corresponds with
the morning message will be shown!

 WEDNESDAY NIGHT LIVE
6:00 PM FELLOWSHIP DINNER – We will enjoy a casserole
buffet! Join us for a time of fellowship prior to classes!
6:30 PM SENIOR CHOIR will meet.
6:45 – 8:00 PM
GEMS for girls in grades K – 8 meet at the Crossing.
CADETS for boys in grades 1 – 8 meet in the choir room.
B.I.G. CREW for preschool children will meet in the nursery.
7:00 – 8:00 PM ADULT CLASS will meet in the Consistory
Room. START Becoming a Good Samaritan ~ The DVD that
goes along with our Sunday Sermon Series will be shown,
followed by discussion. Ron Engels will lead this class.
THE NEW MEMBERS CLASS will meet in the room
opposite the chapel on the south side of the church. This class
is for those who would like to learn more about having a
relationship with Jesus Christ and His church. This class will
enable you to make Profession of Faith, but will not obligate
you. If you have any questions, call Shari Dood at 538-3100.

7:00 PM THURSDAY BIBLE STUDY GROUP meets at the
Crossing. We will meet the first Thursday of each month!
2:45 – 5:00 PM CLUB 3:16 for Grades 7 & 8

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 1, 2010
7:00 PM CRAFT NIGHT at the Crossing. Do you scrapbook,
knit, or do some other craft? Join us at the Crossing for a
“Girls Night Out”! We will meet the first Friday of the Month.
 


 NEXT SUNDAY, OCTOBER 3, 2010
 WORLD WIDE COMMUNION SUNDAY

10:00 AM We will participate in a combined communion service with
Newhall, Beverly, and Faith Reformed Churches! We will meet at
the Wyoming Park High School Auditorium (2125 Wren-
wood SW). Rev. Randy Weener, classis minister, will speak. An
exciting service is being planned! Invite a friend to attend with you.
This will replace the morning service here at Grace.

 PRAYERS & PRAISE
 

HEALTH CONCERNS – Sheila Mc Elroy was hospitalized earlier this
week. Keep Sheila in your prayers as she undergoes testing. Jim
Herrema returned home following hip replacement surgery. Keep
Jim in your prayers as he begins rehabilitation. See the Prayer and
Praise Line for all the prayer requests and praise reports.

IN APPRECIATION – Thank you to our Grace family for all the
cards, prayers, meals, and other acts of kindness! It is very much
appreciated. ~John & Fay De Jong

Thank you for your cards, thoughts and prayers during Bonnie’s
illness. They brought us comfort during this difficult time.

A huge thank you to Karen Ver Hulst for tending to the flowers here
in “God’s Garden”. They have been just beautiful this season, and
we have enjoyed that beauty greatly!

Saturday, October 9 PUMPKIN PATH – Candy donations for the
Pumpkin Path activity which will be held at Lamar Park are needed!
Our Discovery Kidz will be hosting a booth, handing out candy and
church info to the approximately 3000 kids that participate.
VOLUNTEERS (Youth and Adults) are also needed to hand out the
candy. Candy donations can be brought to the youth desk downstairs.

Sunday, October 10, 7:00 – 8:15 pm Y-LIFE for Middle and
High School Students. Meet at the Crossing.


 MISCELLANEOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS

NEW PICTURE DIRECTORIES are in the works!! Pictures will be
taken here at church on Sunday, Oct. 24 and November 7 from
9:00 – 9:45 am and from 11:30 – Noon, and on Wednesdays,
October 13 & October 27 from 6:45 pm – 8:00 pm. If anyone has a
recent photo they would like to submit instead of having another
picture taken they may do so via email, memory card, cd , flash stick
or we can scan it to the computer. SIGN UP FOR YOUR SPOT
TODAY in the narthex!

WEDNESDAY DINNERS – If anyone would like to donate a dessert,
or help in any way with the dinners on Wednesday nights, please
contact Tymie Boeve at 531-5700.

DISCOVERY KIDZ next rotation (Oct. 10 – Nov. 7) is still in need of 1
Shepherd! Can you help? Sign up in the narthex or see Heather
ASAP!

WEDNESDAY NIGHT LIVE helpers needed on the 2nd and 4th
Wednesday! Help needed in the nursery, devotions, and crafts. See
Heather ASAP! Thanks.


FOOD DRIVE COLLECTION: September 12 – October 3 we will
collect food (non-perishable) items, personal care products, cleaning
supplies, and paper products for the County Wide Food Drive which
will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2010. Bring items to the narthex
or by the bench at the downstairs doors.


COUNTY WIDE FOOD DRIVE is coming up on October 9. Once
again we will host the SW Food Collection! Volunteers are needed to
collect food from the neighboring streets (drivers & persons to walk
to the homes to pick up the food). Volunteers are also needed to help
sort and box the food so it can be picked up by the pantries. Finally,
a few volunteers are needed to prepare and serve the food for the
volunteers! The action begins at 9 AM with a short Praise Rally.
Please check your calendars and come help for a few hours…you can
pick your own hours from 9 AM till 2 PM. Check the Galaxy for more
information and sign up in the narthex!

COOKIES are also needed the day of the County Wide Food Drive. If
you would like to make cookies for the volunteers, sign up in the
narthex! You can bring your cookies on or before October 9th.

D & W and FAMILY FARE SCHOOL DAYS – Shop at one of these
stores September 26 – October 2, use our church code 95688 to
have a donation credited to our church! For all the details and
upcoming dates, see the letter in your church mailbox.

 We praise God today for the commitment made by Matt & Lindsey De Young to travel to Tanzania to help those in need. We pray for safety, energy, and open doors for their family and ministry.
 We praise God for a great first week of Club 3:16. We pray for Pastor George and the volunteers as they seek to make connections with the kids of our neighborhood.
 We pray for Sheila Mc Elroy who was hospitalized this week.
 Pray this week for Jim Herrema, Fay De Jong and Deb Pierce following surgery.
 We pray today for Lucille Sytsema.
 Remember John De Jong as he continues his chemotherapy treatments.
