We joyously welcome you to Grace Reformed Church! 

Whatever led you to our church today, we believe God rejoices in

TODAY WE WELCOME Rev. Matthew Wright who will lead our

 service and share the message.  Pastor Matt is a minister of Word and

 Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church (USA). He served as pastor of

 Parkwood Presbyterian Church in Jenison from 2009-2015, and is

 currently a PhD student at Calvin Theological Seminary. He is

 married to Krista, who teaches at Grand Rapids Christian High

 School. They have two daughters, Morgan (a sophomore at Miami

 University (OH)) and Hannah, a senior at Christian High.


DISCOVERY KIDZ will not meet today.  Kids are invited to sit with

 their parents in the sanctuary.  Kids bulletins are available on the

 narthex table.


OUR MUSIC MINISTRY today is presented by Lorinda Vander Werp

 and Sandy Farris.  Thank you for sharing with us this Lord’s day!


ELDERS INVITATION If you have questions, concerns, joys, or

 prayer needs that you would like to share, please see the Pastor or

 an Elder today.  Elders will be greeting at the doors as you leave the

 sanctuary this morning and they are also listed on the back of your

 bulletin.  You may also make a notation on the Fellowship Register.


A PRAYER GROUP will meet following the service in the sanctuary

 to pray for Pastor George & Connections, and the needs and vision at

 Grace Reformed Church.


5:00 PM – A SPECIAL HYMN SING will be held at Unity Reformed

 Church (4450 Poinsettia Ave SE, Kentwood).  Please note the time!

HEALTH CONCERNS – Three members of our congregation will

 undergo knee surgery this week!  Please be in prayer for:

 Joan Formsma – Tuesday, September 6 at Metropolitan

 John Sawyer – Wednesday, September 7 at Blodgett Hospital  

  Sandy Sorenson – Thursday, September 8 at Mid-Town Surgical Center


 Also, Paul Kerkstra will undergo surgery on his hand on Friday, 

 September 9 at the Walker Surgical Center.  We pray for quick and

 complete healing!  See the Prayers & Praise Line for all other prayer

 requests and praise reports.













NEXT SUNDAY morning we will kick off our fall session!  Pastor Rick

 will begin a new series of messages “The Contagious Community,

 Building a Community that Attracts the Lost”.  See the insert in your

 bulletin today.


THE ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS will begin meeting in the

 Consistory Room following the morning worship service. 


VICTORS MEETING – All men involved in the Victors program are

 asked to meet next Sunday following our morning service to go over

 plans for fall.


CROSSING VOLUNTEERS will also have a meeting next Sunday

 to talk about the 2016-2017 session.  If you would like more

 information about becoming a volunteer, please attend this

DISCOVERY KIDZ – Volunteer sign-up sheets are on the narthex

 table through December!  Find a place where you can help! 


OUR SPECIAL OFFERING for the month of September is

 designated for CONNECTIONS.  This offering will be received on

 September 25.


FORGIVING THOSE WHO HURT US - Lorinda VanderWerp will

 be leading this Bible study following the Wednesday Night Live

 Dinners (from 7-8 pm) beginning September 21.  In this study we will

 primarily be utilizing Lewis Smedes’ book “The Art of Forgiving –

 When You Need to Forgive and Don’t Know How.” Please let

 Lorinda or Sue Stuk know if you are interested in attending the class,

 so that we can order enough books.  Thank you.


CONNECTIONS is looking for a good USED FREEZER. We are

 open to either an upright or chest style. We were blessed to have an

 older model chest freezer but it has become undependable. Please

 talk with Pastor George if you have a lead on a newer unit. Our

 provisions for families and Connections meals are dependent on

 stocking up when supplies are available.  


FAMILY NETWORK OF WYOMING is in need of the following:

 Toilet Paper, Toothpaste , Toothbrushes, Hand Soap, Lotion,

 Shampoo, Hair Care (Hair Spray/Conditioner), Deodorant (also

 Men’s Shampoo and Deodorant).  A box will be put by the entry

 doors for your donations.  Thank you so much!


SOUND BOARD – Would you be willing to help run the sound

 system?  We can teach you the ropes, if you would be willing to give

 of your time.  See or call (218-5770) Tim Boeve if you would be

 willing to help.

Prayers & Praise Line

Congregational Prayers and Praise

  • We pray for our youth as they go back to school.  We ask God to be with them and help them meet the challenges of each new day. 
  • We pray for guidance as fall plans are made.  We pray for Pastor Rick and Heather as they prepare for a new season of activities. We pray for volunteers to come forward to help with our programs and dinners. 
  • We pray for Pastor George and Connections and for the youth and adults that attend each week.
  • Remember Joan Formsma, John Sawyer, Sandy Sorenson, and Paul Kerkstra in your prayers as they each undergo surgery this upcoming week.  We pray for successful surgeries and quick and complete healing.
  • Please keep Shirley De Bruin in your prayers as she continues chemo treatments.  We thank God that there has been some success, which is an answer to prayers.  We thank God for his faithfulness to Shirley as she goes through treatments. 
  • We continue to keep Tymie Boeve in our prayers.  She was encouraged at her last Dr. appointment as she was given the go ahead to drive for short distances.  We pray for continued healing and strength. Also, please remember Tymie’s mom in your prayers as she fights cancer. 
  • Thank you for your prayers for Ethan, young grandson of Ed & Kathy De Ruiter.  His surgery went well. 
  • Please keep Sandy Sorenson’s niece, Rachel, in your prayers.  She is a young mom hospitalized and on a ventilator.  She is slowly showing signs of improvement.
  • We ask for prayers for Wes Dekker’s sister, Janet as she has had a setback due to recent surgery. 
  • Please keep Brent Kerkstra, son of Paul, in your prayers.  Prayers for a complete return to health and wellness.
  • Continue to lift up Josh Sawyer in prayer as he is home and stationed in Battle Creek. 
  • Pray for our Shut-in’s: Mrs. Tena DeVink, Mrs. Betty Figueroa, Mrs. Wilma Kamphuis, Mrs. Ruth Ver Merris, Mr. Jim Friar.


As other prayers are shared, you are invited to writethem down and include them in your prayers for our congregation this week.Please keep the church informed of your prayer needs and praises.
