OUR MINISTRY OF MUSIC TODAY is presented by Lexie Wagoner of our
congregation. Thank you, Lexie, for your special part in our worship
service today.

5:00 PM COMBINED WORSHIP SERVICE. You are invited to Unity
Reformed Church, 4450 Poinsettia, Kentwood for a combined
evening service. Please note that this service will begin at 5:00 pm.
We will not have a service at Grace this evening.




COMING NEXT SUNDAY: “START Becoming a Good Samaritan”.
Participants guides will be available soon. Cost for the
participants guide is $5.00. If you are able, you can pay for your
book by putting your donation in the offering plate in an envelope
marked “START”, or you can pay in the office.

A FALL KICK OFF LUNCHEON will be held following the morning worship
service. Lunch and games for the kids! SIGN UP IN THE NARTHEX
TODAY so we have an approximate number to plan on.


will begin with dinner at 6:00 pm. GEMS and CADETS will meet as
well as the BE BIG Preschool Class. Ron Engels will lead a class for
the Adults which will correspond with what we are studying on
Sunday mornings. More detailed info next week!



HEALTH CONCERNS – Fay De Jong is now home following hip
replacement surgery on Thursday, Aug. 26. Keep Bonnie
Harmsen and her family in your prayers as she battles cancer.
Deb Pierce underwent another foot surgery on Friday. See the
Prayer and Praise Line for all the prayer requests and praise reports.

OUR CHRISTIAN SYMPATHIES are extended to Brad & Gracia Class upon
the death of Gracia’s mother, Hazel Huisman, on Tuesday, August 31
at the age of 88. Services were held on Saturday, September 4th.

THE NEXT EDITION of the GALAXY will be published on Sept. 12…perfect
time to put in your plug for fall activities! Please turn in your articles
to Sandy Gort or Pat Ter Beek by Wednesday, September 8. Articles
also may be placed in the bin attached to the file cabinet in the office.

HELP WANTED – SNOW SHOVELERS for our church grounds for the
winter months. Pay will be $12.50 per hour. Contact Stan De Witt
(455-2009) or Dan Stuk (532-7729) for more information.

THE SCHOOL BAG SUPPLY collection ends today! Thank you so much for
all the supplies you brought in. The GEMS will be filling the school
bags at the end of September and then we will give them to Church
World Service. Any extra supplies will be given to Pastor George to
give to our own Club 3:16 kids.

NEW PRAYER PARTNER LISTS for the upcoming 6 months are in the
boxes of all prayer partners today!

THE MICAH CENTER, an organization seeking to pursue justice,
introduces the first of its fall series of speakers on Tuesday,
September 7 at 7:00 pm. Dr. Nicholas Wolterstorff will speak on the
topic “The Moral Significance of Poverty”. You are invited to Hope
Reformed Church (2010 Kalamazoo Ave. SE) to hear this
distinguished speaker. Admission is free!

COMING! FOOD DRIVE COLLECTION: September 12 – October 3 we will
collect food (non-perishable) items, personal care products, cleaning
supplies, and paper products for the County Wide Food Drive which
will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2010. More details to come, but
if you see big sales, pick up a few items early!

COUNTY WIDE FOOD DRIVE is coming up on October 9. Once again we
will host the SW Food Collection! Volunteers are needed to collect
food from the neighboring streets (drivers & persons to walk to the
homes to pick up the food). Volunteers are also needed to help sort
and box the food so it can be picked up by the pantries. Finally, a few
volunteers are needed to prepare and serve the food for the
volunteers! The action begins at 9 AM with a short Praise Rally.
Please check your calendars and come help for a few hours…you can
pick your own hours from 9 AM till 2 PM. Check the Galaxy for more
information and sign up in the narthex!

COOKIES are also needed the day of the County Wide Food Drive. If you
would like to make cookies for the volunteers, sign up in the narthex!

We Pray and Trust God
As school begins, pray for the students in our congregation.
Ask God to be with them and help them meet the
challenges of each day.

 We thank God today for our jobs and the ability to work.
 Pray this week for Fay De Jong and Deb Pierce following surgery.
 We pray today for Lucille Sytsema and John De Jong as they go through treatments.
 Praise God for His precious gift of His Son and through Him, life eternal.
 Keep Amie Pierce in your prayers as she ends a weeklong visit home and leaves next week to serve in Germany with the US Army.
 Pray for all those who have recently lost loved ones.
 Keep Bonnie Harmsen and her family in your prayers.
 Please pray for Connie Maile, sister of Jim Emelander, who is battling cancer.
 Pray for all those involved in planning fall programs.
