THIS MORNING Pastor Rick will begin a new series of messages. See
the insert today for all the details. JOIN US for the FALL KICK OFF
FAMILY PICNIC following the morning service. BBQ, salads, dessert
will be on the menu! Fellowship, fun & games too!

CHILDREN & WORSHIP will not meet this week. Children & Worship will
kick off the fall season next Sunday.

OUR SPECIAL OFFERING for the month of August is designated for
WESTERN SEMINARY, to apply directly to tuition assistance for Darrell
Delaney’s schooling. This offering will be received this morning.

SUNDAYS AT SIX – Tonight Pastor Rick will begin a study of
I, II, & III John. A time of discussion will follow the message.

Park, Wyoming. Steak & Shake will donate 20% of what we
spend on this day. All you have to do is bring in the voucher
show it to your server, and everything on your bill will be
counted toward the 20%. Extra copies of the vouchers are
available on the narthex table.

9:00 AM – 1st meeting of the Wednesday morning Bible Study
Group. Meet in the Consistory Room.

NEXT SUNDAY – Pastor Rick will continue the series GROWING IN
DISCIPLESHIP with the message: “BACK ON TRACK” from Romans
5:1-11, 18-21. All youth and adult Sunday School classes will begin!

7:00 – 9:00 PM HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH GROUP meets at the Crossing.

 PRAYERS & PRAISE

HEALTH CONCERNS – Sheryl Steensma was able to return to her home
following knee surgery. See the Prayers & Praise Line for all
prayer concerns & praise reports.

CONGRATULATIONS are extended to Matthew Vander Heide upon the
birth of a daughter, Jaylyn Reese, on August 28th! We thank God
for this precious gift of life and pray for His blessing on this child!

 SPECIAL DATES TO REMEMBER

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 15, 7:00 PM PRAISE TEAM PRACTICE.

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 17 – WEDNESDAY ACTIVITIES WILL BEGIN with
a Fellowship Dinner from 6:00 – 6:45 pm. GEMS & CADETS will
begin as well as the Adult Class “Politics and the Christian Faith”.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 7 – 10 PM SCRAPBOOKING at the Crossing!
We will meet on the 3rd Friday of the month from 7 – 10 pm to
scrapbook! Invite your friends to come along!

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 28 – A NEW MEMBERS CLASS will begin during the
Sunday School Hour. Sign up in the narthex or call Shari Dood (538-
3100 or 538-7498) if you have any questions.

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 9 – WOMEN’S NIGHT OUT – All those who reserved
their ticket will see the play “Church Basement Ladies”. 

 MISCELLANEOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS

PRAYER PARTNERS – New Prayer Partner Lists for the next 6 months are
in your boxes. Thank you for your willingness to be a Prayer
Covenant Partner at Grace!

CHILDREN & WORSHIP – Looking for individuals willing to worship with
our children. We need your help this fall to keep our children
worshipping God in their own setting. Looking for those willing to
teach the Bible stories and helpers to monitor the children. If you
were involved in C & W last year, there is no need to sign up unless
something has changed as you will be put on the schedule
automatically. Also, needed is someone who is creative to
help set up the crafts. Please contact Heather Dood (534-1794)
if you have any questions.

VOLUNTEERS STILL NEEDED for ELEMENTARY CLUB on Thursdays this fall
from 3:30 – 5:30 pm. Sign up in the narthex or see Kia!

SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS NEEDED: We are in need of a few more
leaders and helpers! Even if you can only help a couple times a
month, feel free to join us! Some of our leaders have decided to take
the year off, so that opens up a spot or two for you! Questions?

SCHOOL SUPPLIES! Concerning the RCWS SCHOOL BAG PROJECT, Grace
sewed the most school bags (over 200!) and by doing so won the
Deacon Center award, so Shari Dood and Phyllis VanderSloot will be
able to go, free of charge, on the mission trip to Baltimore MD in
November (see announcement below).

MISSION BUS TRIP OPPORTUNITY: If anyone is interested in doing a
short mission bus trip from Nov. 10-14, 2008, please contact Shari or
pick up a flyer on the narthex table. It is called the “Learn and Serve
Bus Trip”, a work trip of Church World Service, and it goes to
Baltimore. Monday & Friday are travel days and Tuesday – Thursday
will be volunteer days at the Service Center in New Windsor,
Maryland. Special things are planned for the evenings. The cost is
$430.00 and that includes the lodging & food while there…not the
Monday & Friday travel days.

LEADERSHIP TRAINING EVENT - Thursday, September 25, 6:00 - 9:30 pm.
Volunteers in Service is putting on a workshop for anyone who
wishes to improve their leadership abilities. If you are interested,
please pick up a brochure from the table in the narthex and turn it in
to Shari before Sept. 14. Your registration fee will be covered.
